Chance for Rob to shine - Brian Flynn as No 2

To those who wouldn't buy season tickets or go to games while PD was in post.
I'm sure there will be another thousand at home attendances now! We'll wait and see on that one.

The club were very generous in the time they allowed him and I wonder whether he will look back and acknowledge that he failed to use it wisely; not many get such an extended opportunity.

The club should perhaps have set him some interim objectives and examined his strategy critically instead of them feeling guilty that he was handicapped by the failed takeovers. There was no contingency planning by either him or the club.

Is Redfearn a really suitable choice or is he just in the frame because he has attended some matches? Would the Board really invite a favoured potential successor to visit the ground on match-day? Is it not more likely that he would be doing a bit of scouting for another club?

The meeting last week seemed to ill timed.
To be fair to dickoff.to attend the meeting and set out his objectives last week looks ludicrous

You maybe right Don, but the beauty of Redfearn is that he has served a good apprenticeship and he is probably one of the best coaches of young players.

The crop of youngsters we now have is the best for years, at least something Dickov did right, but if they are to be the future of Doncaster Rovers first team, they need a manager who will push them to the hilt.

Look at the young players he has brought through at the Weeds, I would prefer him to Clough, Evans, Megson etc.

While this should have happened when we were relegated, I was surprised by the timing. We were a little unlucky at Gillingham and I thought he'd be given ten games - although Sean only got seven.

One Free Press article (Buckley) thinks the final straw was the very low attendance at the Keepmoat as well as the poor results. Maybe the Board do take notice of ja606 and other sources as comments such as "I'll not buy a season ticket while Dickov is in charge" does bring home the feeling of many supporters and no doubt rattled the business sense of the Board. The supporters provide the continuity and survival of the club, not the individual players and managers.

I agree with Selby and would be happy with a Jones/Flynn combo or Redfearn. Paul Mayfield in the Free Press is suggesting Glynn Snodin.

I wish Rob and all the lads the best of luck in the upcoming games. Maybe some of the under-performers will blossom now being free of Dickov's "brilliant leadership".

How quickly a managers "stock"can change.
When dickoff was appointed many of us fancied Terry Butcher but It was thought he had better things in front off him .....Newport

An odd start to the season. Defensively we had started to look a lot more sound, then came Port Vale and Ipswich. A large number of injuries, which always makes you wonder about over-training, made life difficult but the players that came in looked ok without showing much creativity for the front two to feed on. The results did not reflect the quality of our play but, despite this for me, the killer blow was the loss of match day numbers. Too many regulars have clearly decided that there have other things to occupy themselves with for a couple of hours - like watching paint dry. Not remotely surprised to see Dickov gone.

The thing is though Albi, would we be as secure at the back without our big friendly German keeper? We would not have had the clean sheets Dickov goes on about WITHOUT his fantastic saves every game.

So, are we as good in defence as the figures show? I don't think so.

About time.

Redfearns pedigree as a manager is 38 games in charge of Scarborough and Northwitch plus his short spell at Weeds so he would have much to prove.
A win percentage no better than what Dickov got slated for too.
I am puzzled as to why he would be first choice for some fans?
