I tryed to listen to footy using the freeveiw box in the spare room sometimes due to the wee man stealing the other telly's in the house to watch cartoons.
Shocking decision IMO surely it doesnt cost anymore to broadcast 24hr in this format instead of just part of the day.
a dunno but am still beelin' that Sky took Sky Sports News off Freeview
That certainly peeeed me off as well Wobgnorts, didnt they realise that if people cannot see it on freeview they cannot count them in their viewing figures (doh)
If they remove services that you have been receiving for your license fees, I would think you have a case for withholding the fees or a rebate.
People should stand up to governments slashing services, and this is 1 where you can hit them in the wallet.
Another terrible move from the BBC.
That company gets worse and worse.
Remember, they show guff like eastenders but they continue to make cuts in nearly every service.
Joke of an organisation.
Don't have freeview but my son does. Disgraceful that they're doing this.
Could you go into more detail about these cuts?
Are these radio cuts? So the 606 forums and match coverage on fivelive?
Are these television cuts to news, bbc3, bbc4 etc?
I hardly watch anything on BBC so wouldnt bother me the slightest if it was a made a commercial station like ITV or Channel4.
Why should people be forced to pay for a service whne it doesnt give them one in the first place.
Radio Scotland broadcasts on a channel on freeview they have now cut the time broadcasting on this channel as OP explains I am not sure if any other of the bbc radio channels on freeview have been cut
anyone care to elaborate on these cuts?
BBC's services being cut? No surprise to me, think this will turn more people to Sky and Murdoch.
Isn't it Sky, among others, who have been pressurising the authorities for them to make these cuts?
Its so the BBC can free up signal space to allow them to broadcast BBC Alba in Scotland on freeview
Some BBC radio channels don't broadcast on freeview between certain hours - normally about 5pm to 11pm. The television budgets have been cut but the broadcast times haven't. It just means programmes have to be made cheaper.
As for the OPs question, if you feel like not paying your TV license in protest, feel free. It annoys me a little but since I don't pay a license fee I can't really complain. Can you not just listen to the radio on the internet, or a radio?
If you watch programmes on demand then I think you may be exempt from paying a licence.
The BBC has really gone down hill over the last few years. I think Radio Scotland has gone from being one of the best stations around (not just for sport) to probably one of the worst. They brought in a 'new' guy a while back and it is absolutely woeful now. ... especially from 8.45am to around 8.00pm. Cheap nonsense now... it's like loose women meets Scotty McClue
Scotty McClue? No heard that mentalist in years.
I still think Sportsound is by far the best football coverage, tv or radio, in this country. Have you ever listened to radio five? Everyone on it either has no passion, no knowledge or is just very bland.
And the thing on sky with Jeff Stelling has been completely overtaken by Open All Mics, which does a similar job but in a much more entertaining way.
Disagree mate, Soccer Saturday is miles better than anything on the Beeb.
Fair enough, but whenever I've seen it they seem to spend all their time trying to entertain themselves rather than the viewers. It's like watching a group of guys you don't know at the pub watching football. Its impossible to get any sense of what is actually happening in any of the games they are watching.
Radio scotland's sportsound is absolutely guff! they only concentrate on gossiping and do very little talking about stuff on the pitch!
