I am hopeful he will get more from our squad than Rodgers has done in the last year or so.

How much more he can get is impossible to quantify. We should be able to challenge for a top 4 place (note that's challenge, not necessarily achieve), and compete much better in Europe (QF's etc) and have a good go in the domestic cups.

After that any progress will be determined by making the right deals. Like Rodgers, Klopp won't have full control of that, but hopefully the club will make a much better fist of getting transfers right than in most of the last 25 years.

............

If Klopp has anything about him he will make sure he has full control of signings.

Either that or he can wait around a few months and get the Chelsea job.

The things I hear here never ceases to amaze me. We are talking about a manager here who went up against the mighty Bayern and won the league. Took Dortmund ffs man to the champs league final. To compare him to Ancelotti is daft, as the latter has been in the game for decades. No one should be scared, but be very wary of them.

He didn't have full control at Dortmund either VC.

It's not 1985.

Hard to say really, Klopp's an very good coach but Liverpool also have a very average squad and are not the most desirable of teams in the prem for top players to move to.

What he achieved with Dortmund was brilliant but, despite having more money, Liverpool have more competition ahead of them than Dortmund had.

Will Klopp have the 'eye for a bargain' that Liverpool will need to break into the top four, maintain that status and then push on towards winning titles? I'm not so sure, as far as I was aware Dortmund's president and director of football have been their biggest source of success in the transfer market, not Klopp.

Also worth baring in mind what the repercussions of the prem losing it's fourth CL spot will be, should it happen.

Can see Liverpool playing exciting football again, though. How far it takes them remains to be seen.

Dont think fear is the right word.
United should wary of quite a few teams in this league, as they are no great shakes themselves.
Irrespective of whether Klopp came, or Rodgers stayed, United and Liverpool would not of, and will not, be far away from each other this season in the race for a top 4 place.
Will Klopp improve Liverpool as a team, and also improve their chances of top 4, well I believe he will, but only time will tell to what extent .

That will explain why their success was only short term then.

............................

I think they should have, or at the very least the final say.

If you have someone outside of you manager telling you who your players are going to be, then that is plain daft.

Somehow I can't imagine Malcs kids telling LVG they need to buy Mario or Rickie.

If you think that is the way Liverpool should be run, then good luck to you.

i wouldnt say that was the reason, more likely the fact that Bayern came in and stole 2 of their best players in consecutive seasons.

You are changing it now though aren't you?

I never said he wouldn't or didn't have the final say.

That's not the same as having full control of transfers.

If Klopp is really as good as he has been made out to be then top 4 should be a piece of cake even this season and liverpool should be challenging for the title within 3 years.

Anything less than this and he will officially be over rated. No pressure then
----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why? Would you still see him as a world class manager if he did not achieve top four and then challenge in 3 years?

Liverpool have has much resource as Arsenal so if an awful manager like Wenger can do it then surely a world class manager like Klopp will find it even easier right?

The underrating of Klopp is quite bizarre. Yes things eventually went down hill after huge amounts of success at Dortmund. If the same happened to Simeone I'd like to think people would still rate him as a top class manager.

To compare him to Rodgers is ridiculous full stop.

Only one manager in my living memory has had almost non-stop success and that was Sir Alex Ferguson at a far bigger club than Dortmund. Klopp doesn't guarantee Liverpool success but he's a massive coup.
