Its been done in a slick manner, can't be bothered to even think what Rodgers could or would have done with more time.

Just moved on pretty quick from Rodgers, who has really quickly become a footnote.

It is the first appointment since Benitez where arguably the appointment has had the credentials for the job.

He could flop spectacularly, but if he does you won't be able to reflect and ask what qualified him for the job in the first place.

very jealous right here, id sack LVG now if you could guarantee Klopp taking charge, for me he's one of the 5 best coaches in europe, and plays the most exciting football of any manager in europe

Definitely it's a big move for me.

This is our first manager since Benitez who was a proven name and winner.

This will raise the profile of the club throughout Europe, as well as him being a top manager of course.

We don't have many (any?) big name global players anymore but this guy is a big name leader that COULD transform the mentality of whole club in time.

Very exciting to see what he does, and even if he fails nobody can say we didn't bring in the right man, he was the obvious choice.

i have to agree, it's a great appointment. well done.
but here's hoping Klopp flops

I liked Rodgers so I get no pleasure in seeing him leave, however Klopp is the very best replacement available and I'm sure he will be a massive influence on the club.

Exactly how I feel ARE

Hodgson had a decent record (how high a stock would a foreign manager have if he got a Fulham size team to the Uefa Cup final?), but not the charisma.

Rodgers had the charisma (of sorts, he talked in middle-management speak that drew a lot of people in), but not the record.

Klopp has a very good record and is really charismatic. So there's plenty to encourage. Does that lift expectations higher, sooner though?

Not really.

Fans know the current limitations of our squad.

Nobody is going to be expecting titles straightaway.

People will expect a top 4 challenge (note challenge not definitive place), and will expect us to be better in Europe than we ever looked under Rodgers.

I was fortunate enough to live in Dortmund during Klopp's greatest years and watched Borussia Dortmund regularly and can safely say you have just acquired a great manager. Klopp is a huge motivator, a great tactician, charismatic, energetic, very witty and has that rare quality that makes players want to give their all for him. He is very intelligent, modest and demands much more from his players than most managers. He worked miracles at Dortmund, back to back titles over Bayern, the Cup and a CL Final.
Liverpool have made a great appointment.
Good luck to you and good luck to Klopp, the Prem is better for him.

Hodgson was just a strange appointment, to me it had a short term feel. Admittedly I didn't think for one minute it would be as short term and bad as it turned out to be but there you go.

Rodgers was an interesting appointment to me but it had the feeling of second choice, maybe worse. Strong rumours of approaching Klopp at that time and him turning us down. Strong rumours of the owners wanting Klinsmann and him turning us down to stay in the US. Then there appeared to be some support for both Martinez and AVB.

Rodgers came out with the job but it didn't feel like a decisive process to me, especially when the Director of Football / no DoF thing.

Klopp feels like we've landed our top choice. It's been decisive, it's been quick and he has the pedigree for a job of this size.

Hopefully we've located a manager who won't need to do anything other than win on the pitch to win over the fans.

This description put in in mind of Bill Shankly.

No idea what he will bring but I had to react to that thought.
