Can't really see the need for yet another midfielder unless he is looking to send Ebicilio back to Holland?
Powell has been about for few years now and seems to be in a similar situation to Bamford at Chelsea. Both loan cash cows. Might be a decent punt it don't forget there is only one squad place left.
Would also be stuffed if DDV picked up an injury with Evtimov as the only cover.
Before caniggia starts whining because I'm daring to comment on a Leicester or ex-leicester player on a forest forum (being a Leicester fan) let me be the first to say that Hammond would be a top signing for you guys.
He was brilliant for us last year when he did play and as a holding mid you can't go wrong. We took Powell on loan last season but it didn't work out, apparently he never bothered getting to training on time etc, he has a bit of an attitude problem apparently. Very talented lad though
Liam Trotter apparently Waggy, so not a Leicester midfielder.
Yes TEG just seen it on NEP internet page looks solid enough for the job so many bloody injuries
I'd rather have Hanmond given the choice. Must mean Mancienne is out for a while, I guess?
Just checked, Mancienne out until December so DF's hand is forced.
Liam Trotter is pretty average from memory. Would also prefer Hammond
When i first saw a article forest to sign bolton midfielder i thought jay spearing, fair enough he needs first team football and maybe loan with a view to buy in January. Once i read it was trotter i didn't stop laughing for half an hour. Famous for this goal though http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DclkJzzvWrc
It will be short term to cover for injuries though
DF signed him for Bolton so there is a loyalty thing going on. Not convinced by the move on the face of it if Trotter can't break into a struggling Bolton side?
Decent signing in the circumstances and if he is match fit. Definitely better than Ebecillio.
He was decent at Milwall, but has lost his way a bit.
He may have to start on the bench if Mendes Vaughan Lansbury Osborn and Ward are all fit to start on Friday
One of the loanees will have to miss out as they'd have six in the squad. Guess Ebicillio being injured makes that an easy decision at the moment.
That's if they can get the transfer through in time for Friday. Remember how long it took to get the last lot of loan signings in. Hopefully, they'll be experts now and will whizz through the red tape!
I came on here to see if anyone was commenting on the potential Hammond transfer and I’m afraid I would have a slightly different opinion from Blackstarr.
If you want a player to sit in front of the back four or to be a defensive lynchpin when you’re trying to close a game out then Hammond is your man. For almost everything else I’m not sure I would bother.
Hammond was actually better for us when he’s played in the Premier League. When you’re conceding an awful lot of possession Hammond is the ideal man to drop in the middle and do a job in breaking up the oppositions play and starting off attacks of your own.
As one of the better sides in the Championship, however, I would expect Forest to be dominating possession in a lot of games and will want the creativity, invention and passing from midfield to unlock teams that set up defensively. Hammond would add little value to this and would only be useful to drop in for the last ten minutes if you’re leading the game. Is that really what Forest need?
Joby, we have plenty of creative and attacking midfielders, the position we're short on is the CDM so doesn't sound a bad option
That is exactly what we want! To link between a very creative midfield [ Vaughan, Henri, Osborn, Burke, and our new loanee's] and our trio of some what average centre halves.
Jonathan Williams had a good run out last night in the Wales game along with Vaughan. Hopefully he's getting up to full fitness and we'll see a bit more of him
Yes - didn't see the Wales game, but heard good reports about Williams (and Vaughan). Surely time to give Williams a run out.
I would imagine DF won't want to change things around too much given he'll already have to replace Mancienne in the midfield. Williams may have to be patient for his chance.

Fair enough. He won't offer any creativity, but if you just want someone to sit in then he's your man!

Not overly excited by the signing either but managers like to have players they have prior knowledge of and can trust. Can see the logic in it. To be honest, options are very limited thanks to the FFP rules.
How many ex-Bolton players we got Rev?
