Liverpool fan Jamie Carragher is the one who thinks Liverpool aren't a big club, not the Spurs fans.

You've out run every team SO FAR because you have the youngest squad in the league. You are going to be against the 2nd youngest squad in the league with the added boot of new manager syndrome which should be worth another 10%-15% effort.

Liverpool also have the most industrious player in the league (Milner) who just seems to keep going and going.

These factors suggest to me that you won't be out running Liverpool at the weekend.

The Ace,

Lamela who has scored and/or assisted in each of the last 5 games, or Townsend who looked utter crap in his last cameo. Let's just leave our in form players out because of some daft agenda why not.

===============================

Wrong. Eriksen assisted Son for the only goal in the 1-0 win against Palace (5 games ago). And Eriksen scored direct from 2 set pieces against Swansea (1 game ago).

Apart from one being pale, with slightly balding blonde hair, and the other having a far darker complexion, with spikey black hair, they do look rather similar…I’ll give you that..

Townsend is bloody awful. Needs to be on his way in January.

Disagree. Townsend is a useful squad player and could do without the treatment he gets from Spurs fans if he's ever going to get back into form.
So I want him staying!

That said to suggest he should start over Lamela is poultry inspired poo-wummery.

Chadli has been woeful this season. Offers little and not contributing with the goals of last season.

Eriksen left side lamela right . Both behind Kane. Bentaleb alli and mason as the 3 in midfield as Liverpool will pack it .

i saw mason have a really good match recently

is that a one off or is he just a squad player having a good day?

first few games I think mason was our best player.

toby and jan not far behind.

Rose & Eriksen/Chadli

Or

Davies & Townsend/Njie

Preferably I'd have a midfield three of Bentaleb, Mason and Alli, with Eriksen and Rose left.

Dembele in for Mason if not.

Mason started off well last season, then sort of got found out as the season unfolded. Hope he can continue where he left off for the rest of this season. Needs to add more goals and assists to his game though.

Is that his job Spurtle? As part of a 2 in a 4231 as he was last season?

Nice if they can, but not the be all and end all in that position. Modric springs to mind (not saying Mason is like Modric, just similar roles)

HRH

When you look at how much he comes forward and takes shots, then I would expect him to work on that part of his game. One of the 2 in midfield should do this more than the other.

If we strive to be better than we are then these are the things that need to improved on.

He does get himself in good positions, agreed.

I think it will come, he started out as a ten and scored goals throughout his youth career.

Maybe playing further back, less chances, higher pressure when you get one etc has played on his mind a bit.

Ace Face,

Not so long ago you were banging the 'Townsend was our 2nd or 3rd most productive player last season' drum. Well Lamela must own that title this season - if not first, but you don't afford him the same fanfare. Mr Consistent? Hmmmm.

================================

Brilliant . So when I used the “Productivity” comment last season, you didn’t agree with it – yet now you believe Lamela’s productivity is up there, you want to use it as a blueprint for the first XI…absolute priceless….

The problem with your comment to start with is that the productivity comment only came about because Lamela was getting praised for his contributions, and as a mocking comment, I was challenged by Chronic to compare them with Townsend’s (followed by a laughter smiley). It was only then that HRH provided the stats and this put Townsend above Lamela (and above all but 2 players to be precise). And this is why the stat re-appeared. It wasn’t my analogy to start with, “son”.

For the record, I have always maintained (i.e. this consistency thing you mention) that we should always look at the bigger picture, and look at a player’s all round play, and not focus solely on 6 or 7 touches of a football over 100’s / 1000’s of minutes of play – AND THIS IS THE REASON I would not play Lamela against Liverpool.

Can we assume then, that judging by this latest “spur of the moment / chop and change to suit” opinion of yours, you now believe the team should be picked on a stats table basis? Or shall we wait to see what Chronic thinks before you commit to this?

Chronic, can you help Face Ache out here…he’s like a sheep who’s lost its shepherd…
