oh and fluidity, howcomes my players when they turn or try and cut back its like they are being pulled by a tug of war team?
I hear you, it just refuses to let you have a fun, open game.
Myself, I have to be fully concentrated just to keep the score at 0-0, and if I get a bit lucky I'll score a few good goals, but majority they'll be counters/podgy ones.
It's certainly not what I think FIFA should be, a "pick-up-and-play" type of game, it's just taken all the fun out.
Having said that, on Career Mode, it does feel very, very satisfying when I do eventually score a goal.
But when I play against a mate at their house, I can't create anything, despite me being able to batter them in previous editions.
I haven't got a PSN subscription, so I can't comment on what it's like to play online, but I imagine it to be more frustrating.
I just dont understand it seems to of sucked the joy out to even the playing field and make a scrap fest, all the games i've won ive still felt frustrated
What difficulty are you playing on?
This game requires a much more patient approach, you have to pass the ball around, pulling the opposition around and look for the spaces that open up to capitalise. If you score first you'll find the game opens up as the opposition have to be a bit more adventurous.
Im enjoying it personally, I don't know if its better than PES or not like some people say as i haven't played pes. But once you get the hang of it its good fun.
And LFC, the passing and moving is the way i;ve always played, looking at space, playing into strikers and back out, dragging defenders away. SO I cant agree with what you've said at all.
How do you get your players stronger and quicker though, every player i've played so far has quicker and stronger players than my 93 pace players
Thing is, in real life, teams usually have to work for their chances and take time with building up play so I can kind of understand why they're trying to promote slower build up and less cheap goals, but a game of Fifa only lasts 15 minutes so if you want to win you need fast play somewhere.
I do like how I have to work for goals and chances instead of just playing a couple of one-twos and booting the ball over the top for a pacey player to chase to create an opening. But at the same time counter attacking play like that doesn't feel effective enough anymore.
Most of my games (career) have finished 1-0 or 0-0 and been very dull. I was a pretty crap defender in past Fifas but now looking at my stats you'd think I was brilliant. I've resorted to getting 90 pace players just so I can create a tiny bit of extra space and make games more open and quick but it isn't really working.
I agree with Nick
I'm selling mine, each game feels like a chore and it's not actually fun to play at all.
Why would I want to come home from work and play this boring pile of crap?
Thing is, in real life, teams usually have to work for their chances and take time with building up play so I can kind of understand why they're trying to promote slower build up and less cheap goals- This is a massive flaw though, although I understand it, in real life, pro footballers can usually pass and control a football. In fifa they cannot.
Also most goals in this game are either penalties, or crosses/corners so again that doesnt add up.
I do like how I have to work for goals and chances instead of just playing a couple of one-twos and booting the ball over the top for a pacey player to chase to create an opening. -Don't know what level you normally get to but I always win division 1, and you cant play like that, I usually dominate possesion and break players down.
Agree that counter attack is non existent though.
I also feel like because they have made the dribbling so bad, they have made the tackling even worse to even it out, rather than improve both.
I never play career so cant comment on that.

I hardly play online, I just play career mode on legendary difficulty, I'm not a great player by any means, but I do like to dominate possession and used to throw in the odd lobbed through ball to mix it up but now that's pointless. No disrespect but most of my games are a bit like watching a Man Utd home game, pass, pass, pass but little chance creation and usually hoping for a lucky pen or deflection on a shot.
Here is what I would do .
1 Return game
2 Buy PES

got PES before, that was the reason I got FIFA, both terrible tbh
If you're counters aren't effective then heavy touch is your friend
If you find a bit of space to get past the defenders with, flick the analogue stick forward to the direction you want to go. Get past CPU defenders easily.
I've also been trialling fake shots as they can be quite effective but that's a work in progress.

It's boring yeah but the AI do give the ball away a lot as I've altered the sliders and play high press, even managed to grab the odd cheap goal after forcing them into terrible backpasses to the keeper.
I can understand why they've made it so that attacks are built up more rather than it being quick and end-to-end, but I think they've gone a bit too far in regards to taking or negating the effects of pace in the game.
I only play it on career mode so all my games are against the CPU. Definitely have to concentrate more than I did on 15 if I want to win, although it's hard to be patient at times. Have managed to score more frequently than I did at first, managed to score 5 in one game
My big gripe with the game is the passing... The pass completion by the CPU is ridiculous, regardless of whether you're playing against Bournemouth or Bayern Munich. Pretty much always at least 85% which is unrealistic to say the least, I drew 1-1 against United earlier and they managed 96%
Ahh okay Nick fair enough. I don't play online, only career so can't comment or help on that.
Regarding strength though, holding L2 (if on playstation) when you have the ball helps shield it a little more making it harder to have it taken off you. Thats about all I have to help sorry man.
Just figured out more about this game, about how poorly made it is. It seems that the designers are so lazy that rather than imrpove the defending, theyve made both the dribbling and defending worse.Rather than improve both.
I dont know what the point in the direction stick is either:
Nick:tap x and hold direction to left
Fifa:Oh you mean try hit a 30 yarder along the floor right?
Nick: wtf.
Also I've noticed that whenever your up against a good dribbler or 5 star dribble moves(say yanick bolasie) the AI of your player turns obsolete and rather than just get the ball they will sp@z around and do ANYTHING BUT get the ball.
This is probably the worst game i've ever played and EA should be ashamed of themselves
The first touch, the pass, the lack of goals(most my games are 0-0 or 1-0 via a pen) It really is an atrocity
Games against the computer are too hard this year. I don't play career mode only UT and I just tried a single player tournament the other day. I came up against Borussia Gladbach on World Class difficulty and got absolutely rekt. I remember I used to destroy teams like them on fifa 14 now it's the other way around
Don't think they realise that games are meant to be fun to play. Not an absolute chore
AI teams are too defensive minded, park the bus, pass the ball around sideways and back and make it very hard to win possession, create almost nothing. For me most games are just attack (me) against defence. I play with an attacked minded formation and leave $hit loads of gaps in my defence due to high press yet manage to keep clean sheets 75% of the time.
Still on career mode and I've got to the January transfer window in 2018. Among others, the following players contracts run out in 6 months and can be approached on a free transfer:
Deulofeu
Oxlade- Chamberlain
Isco
Gotze
Neymar
Looks like I'm going bargain-hunting....
Still haven't played a single players game yet. My record online is terrible. Bout 45 wins 12 losses 🙈
