Sharticle.

Only a fool would put 'stability' over victories and trophies.

Wouldn't any Arsenal fan swap their last 8 years with Chelsea.

Judging a top manager like Jose over 2 months, whilst talking about longevity, bit daft.

Except, if you read the article, you'll see that I'm not judging him over two months, I'm looking at his entire managerial career in fact and trying to view it from a particular context.

No one can question José's ability to win trophies, but shouldn't a manager also be judged on other aspects too, namely the ones I outlined in the original article.

It's a tough one. Would Pompey say trophies over longevity?

Mourinho is a special manager. However I don't think anything he did with Chelsea was remotely special, in fact he underachieved IMO.

What he achieved at Porto and Inter was amazing, better than anything even Fergie did in one season in terms of the squad available.

Wenger has longetitivity which is something Mourinho will never have. He can never sustain his success for more than 2/3 years at a club.

But he's won more in those 3 years than wenger in 10.

It's ALL about victory and triumph.

Mediocre managers like Wenger deserve culling imo. boring, safety-first happy with 4th or 5th.

so bitter. I think it's time for Wenger to move on but calling the bloke mediocre shows an embarrassing lack of football knowledge.

Exactly, and what about Wigan? How much are they enjoying their FA Cup win now they're in League 1?

I remember when Villa fans criticised O'Neill back when he left because, despite his cup runs and high league finishes, he was deemed as having done very little to build for Villa's future. He was accused of over-spending and not developing youth. We've all seen how Villa have suffered since he walked away. Since as fans of a club we're in it for the long haul, shouldn't we value managers who take the same attitude?

Wenger has not won the title in 12 seasons, has been abysmal in the CL and only saved his ass by a couple of fa cup wins in the last two years...........and to you that is success?

All of Maureens success has been in the early years at clubs where he has taken over a team someone else put together. He has built on their work and been successful but once those players move on and it becomes more of a team he's built they drop in form and he leaves or gets sacked

Wenger will be judged a genius in future years. He could have left and won titles at Madrid, bayern, peg with ease.

that is simply not true.....Ranieri did sign a lot of great players and deserves some credit for sure but he would never have turned Chelsea into title winners........

Mourinho inherited an Inter side that had been shambolic in the CL and took Madris to their first title in six years.......................and he certainly did not inherit a good chelsea team 2nd time round..

The announcers were questioning the tactics of Jose after Chelsea went ahead. It seemed like they were becoming too careful, instead of trying to put Liverpool away? If this is so, the blame would fall at the feet of the manager.
