You have to admire the Saffers. Spinners killed them the first match and are killing them again. Medium pacer takes one wicket, one run out and 8 wickets to spin.

Yet they go with their three pronged pace attack. They should have filled their side with spinners.

This pitch wasn't a turner. SA are just atrocious. They have fear of playing spin and missing straight balls. Apart from ab the rest have average. It seems this series is headed only one way -4-0.

There is definitely some fear there, but Jadeja ( a non spinner of the ball) was turning it square. He befuddled AB with a ripper.

You can't blame the pitch for poor batting. Watch all of the wickets

Surely you can understand that wickets don't necessarily fall due to the quality of the actual ball. If the pitch is doing odd things, maybe batsmen play shots they wouldn't normally play.

Did you see the ball from Jadeja that pitched around leg and spun and bounced over off stump?

Good to see the Kiwis showing some backbone.

Nearly 1,000 runs scored by tea on the 3rd day for only 12 wickets.

Lool now it seems very clear how the Aussies are doing really well by producing flat wickets and boosting their averages.

I would rather result oriented pitches India are producing, where if batsmen apply themselves they will do well.australia have been producing flat wickets since 2011. Only the ashes had good pitches otherwise all other pitches have been batting paradise.

Where's the outcry for these flat Aussies tracks like there was for Abu Dhabi? Shocking wicket this.

Come on Viru, India's result wickets are turners from day 1.

posted on 15/11/15

Yeah some are. But England got the same wickets and they won.

Now compare this with what the Aussies are producing. How can you justify a team scoring 400+ in one day? Australia are producing such wickets like literally every other match. Even the India series. They had such pitches for SA series where Clarke scored 300 runs like for fun.

We have critisized subcontinent pitches far too often and off late pitches in Australia SA and NZ have been way too flat. They have nothing for the bowlers.

Well played to Taylor on his double ton <ok

Just a quick question to the Indian supporter's, what has suddenly changed in terms of wickets in India? I remember a few years flat beds, 500 playing 500 versus Sri Lanka. What has been the shift in the other direction

All unfair pitches deserve criticism. But turning square from day one is a bit ott.

Having said that, India are at home and can prepare whatever pitches they like.

I bet they tried to make it fast and bouncy, but they have failed to produce a good pitch at Perth of late. The Gabba has been more WACA like than the WACA itself.

posted on 15/11/15

The difference is Kash that because it is still relatively fast and bouncy so the ball comes on to the bat allowing fast scoring. The pitches in the UAE have no bonce or pace so produce turgid cricket with a run rate of 2.

England is the best place for wickets imo. Only place in the world bowling first is an option. Admittedly our cloudy weather helps this, but love a test match where the captain isn't sure what to do after winning the toss.

posted on 15/11/15

That was probably unfair of me, the last day of one of the Pak Eng tests was very entertaining and this Perth test has not been great.

I broadly agree with Lamela, however sometimes English pitches go too far the other way, where bowling first is actually a big advantage.

Starc bowls the fasted recorded ball in test history which was blocked with ease by Taylor. Seriously fast pace.

The Dubai wicket was a great test wicket. Good for batting but something always for the bowlers with new and old ball. Like Duncan said the wickets in England can be to much in favour of the bowlers and we don't want 2/3 days tests.

Australian and NZ wickets have gone flat with these drop in wickets, Indian wickets have become too spin friendly while SA are hit and miss with some flat and some very bowler friendly.

posted on 15/11/15

Starc is overrated in tests, currently, but he has the making of a seriously good bowler.

I agree Aus pitches are currently too flat, they always try to prepare fast bouncy wickets but sometimes get it wrong. I blame AFL. grrrr

India haven't lost a wicket yet.

It's a wicket that favours spinners... India have a better spun department.

It's not rocket science. All teams do it

Taylor dismissed for 290. Looked tired. But, thanks to him, NZ leads by 65.

Wouldn't it be nice if NZ won this test match after Australia declared its first inning at 559? Not very likely, but keep in mind Australia is short by one batsman.

NZ had a chance when the Aussies were 2 down and still in deficit but Smith and Vosges have turned it around. No chance they'll win now unless their is an almighty collapse.

South Africa have probably had their best two days on tour so far.
