When will Sturridge be fit again? Will he ever be?

Please tell us who, in world football, you wouldn't swap Albrighton for

No room on the wing for Albrighton, Where will Vardy play?

posted on 5/11/15

I'd swap a lot of players but he's very underrated. I've not seen a better winger at Leicester since Stevie Lynex when he was whipping in balls for Lineker and Smith.

His crossing is top class, he's fast, strong, works really hard and has a great attifude (now, he hasn't always since being at Leicester).

I'd rather have someone like Albrighton, who can deliver a great cross and help his full back, rather than a lot of the overrated wingers around.

Odds on a Vardy goal assisted by Albrighton?

Good for him.

I think what's surprised me most about Albrighton is his work-rate. He's a battler and a harrier, and willing to help out his teammates - not really what I was expecting. My expectations were that we'd get someone who was inconsistent, sometimes had a good game and grabbed some goals and assists but sometimes was just bypassed by a game. However, I've been impressed that he always puts in a shift.

Sometimes I wonder if he puts in too much of a shift and that that is to the detriment of his crossing, which can be a bit hit and miss at times. But what's good about them is that he's not afraid to whip a delivery into the box, and do it quickly. So even if some don't reach their intended target, at least those targets know that they can time their runs and won't be wasting their energy, jumping back and forth or constantly getting caught offside. When the crosses are good, they're difficult to defend against.

For England, I'm not entirely convinced - although I'd be interested to see someone like him as an option on the bench. I'm more interested to see the possibility of having Vardy lead the line in a 4-2-3-1 with Rooney in behind, as that might bring out the best in both of them. Despite the frustrations, I still believe Rooney is a class player and the best one we've got. Having a dangerous and hardworking speed merchant like Vardy ahead of him to stretch the defence and give him an outlet in behind could give him the kind of room in the centre of the park where he could thrive.

Rooney is a number 10 now, simple as that. I absolutely agree the role in behind will bring out the best in him. He's lost that yard and simply can't play the lone striker role anymore.

His best attributes, in my opinion, are his vision and passing ability and having Vardy making runs ahead of him, I'd fancy him to pick him out. The idea of that for England gives me a little tinkle ha ha

I also think having someone like Vardy to feed off, will allow him the opportunities to score the type of goals he's renowned for.

As for Albrighton, he continually gets balls into the box and law of averages means he delivers undefendable balls in every game. It shows what happens when you've got players making the runs to get on the end of them, the net bulges.

arro - By that logic, we'd have to take it that Lloyd Dyer defied the law of averages.

posted on 5/11/15

No Dunge, Lloyd was like most wingers. He looked good and was exciting to watch but had no end product.

The difference with Albrighton is he does have an end product and it results in goals. Also a cross is only really a great cross when someone has made the run to get on the end of it.

Just a question if Nigel was such a perfect manager why did Albrighton one of the saviors of last season and so far of this did not get a look in till we where nearly doomed?

Beckham got away with being an average, hard working winger for years, why shouldn't Albrighton.

An average player doesn't voted to be the second best in the world as Beckham did twice. Sure he wasn't always world class but he was an excellent player whose ability with the ball at his feet was superb

Albrighton’s career was going nowhere until Nigel Pearson rescued him from Aston Villa’s reserves. He then didn’t get picked until he’d sorted out his attitude and work ethic, before finally making an impact towards the end of last season.

Credit goes to Albrighton who refused to let his career go the same way as: Beckford, Powell, Danns, Mills, St. Ledger, Marshall and Peltier (amongst others). Credit also for Pearson and his management team for some brilliant man management. Hopefully it might be England’s gain.

Hodgson is making an absolute mockery of getting an England cap, no offence to albrighton, he is just one of many, it's pointless trying these guys out in friendlies as they are not gonna get into a competitive England XI at any point

I must have missed this news and cannot find anything online about his call-up. Where has this news come from?

while Joby and TB conratulate each who attitude needed sorting i think it was the other way rounds NP's attitude and stuburness not to pick a player that then went on to help save NP's career and keep us up.

It will take a lot to convince me that Albrighton was creating the chances he was in training, he obviously offended the easily offended Manager.

posted on 5/11/15

Actually Nev, I have on excellent authority that he definitely did have a bad attitude. He spat his dummy when he didn't get back into the team after his injury.

Pearson made him think he was a shoe in because before his injury, Nige had said how important he was going to be.

He didn't play well for the U21's and for a spell, didn't work hard enough in training.

Testament to Pearson for recognising the effort he'd put in to change his attitude. He rewarded him with a start and since then it's all been about Albrighton.

He took his chance and since then has shown a brilliant attitude and it's been rewarded with an England call up. Fair play to the lad.

The thing is Albrighton is as good most wingers in the league. He's better than Lallana and has way more affect than Milner, yet they keep getting picked and nobody has a problem but they're no better than Albrighton. Have a look at their stats and MA is well on top.

He's been one of our most consistent players since April and has been a pivotal part of our team. He's improved no end and I never thought I'd see this from him. I'm not being biased, he's a genuinely decent player.

He deserves a call up because he every squad needs a winger that works hard to protect his full back and delivers quality balls into the box. If we persist with Kane, he'll benefit from Albrighton's crossing.

Dead right he is. Best manager we've ever had because turning a football club from a shambles to where we are now is remarkable. He changed the whole ethos of the club and shaped it's future.

He built this team and instilled this ethic and that is way more of an achievement than winning a few football matches to lift a trophy or two.
