But you will laugh if they don't get promoted Chicago?
Everton accept bid of just over £4m from Leicester City for striker Jermaine Beckford, report BBC Radio Leicester.
FOX1884
The premier league has become a joke, with regards to the ridiculously overinflated valuations of players.
Some of that has over the last few years filtered down into the championship. Leicester are doing their best to cement that.
I dont expect you to agree as its easy to sit there on your high horse when its your team.
So, ImFrankStrandli, explain to me what you believe Leicester should be doing? As i've stated, I have nothing against Leeds. I read your forum most days as I have genuine interest in how your team is doing and what its fans think of Grayson etc.
I read every day articles from Leeds fans complaining, rightly so, that there is a serious lack of investment in the team when it appears, on the face of it, the money is there. I would equally be annoyed if I were a Leeds fan.
Hence my confusion. Leicester are operating in a football world whereby transfer fees are over inflated (not Leicester's fault believe it or not), but we have owners who CAN afford it and WANT promotion. Whether Sven is the right man remains to be seen (I for one am still unsure).
No high horse here, just posing questions.
What a pathetic argument. That's like complaining that you've lost a game because the other team scored more goals than you did.
Bet you weren't whinging and carping when Leeds spent all that money were you - and money that they didn't even have in the first place. At least our owners are spending their OWN money.

..................................
My opinion re Leicesters spending is based solely on extreme amounts of money being spent in the second division.
As a fan of a rival team, are you so surprised that I am displeased with the extreme amounts of money you have spent especially when it appears that my team cannot and will not spend anywhere near the same amount.?
I bring it back to my original point. I think Leicester have spent crazy money to get out of this division. And myself and probably many other fans in this country hope that you fail because of the way you have gone about trying to buy promotion.
Of course you hope we fail. I wouldn't expect anything else. I hope you don't get promoted, or Derby, or Southampton, or Brighton, because it means it's one less promotion space up for grabs.
I just think a Leeds fan complaining about another club spending a lot of money is beyond ironic.
And of course, ImFrankStrandli, should Leeds be bought by an oil billionnaire and throw serious cash at getting promoted, you'll be the first to protest against it I imagine?

FOX1884....I'd not be happy if a billionaire bought Leeds...this probably is going off topic, but as stated in many other threads, money unfortunately runs the game, but is the ruination of it too...I think most Leeds fans just want to see SOME reinvestment of monies gained over the last couple of seasons....we are not asking for the club to give Seth Johnson 37 grand a week.

Again, that was in the premier league, playing champions league football. Im trying to make clear the distinction in my opinion between the PREMIER league and the SECOND division.

Here's a hypothetical question back at you. Should you be still owned by Mandaric/or previous owners, and Derby County were bought by Mr King Power. Derby subsequently spent more money than some prem league teams in the quest to get promotion.
What would your reaction be?
Everton only want to keep him for lack of a better alternative i.e. injuries and no money available for a better alternative, all the fans I speak to know he is a very flawed player at prem level.

My reaction? Jealousy. That a team, and in particular a local rival, had the resources to fund a genuine promotion challenge whilst we were being left behind with limited cash, well that'd hurt to be honest. I'd be jealous as hell.
Would I wish them nothing more than administration, like many Leeds, Forest and Derby fans have with Leicester? Absolutely not. I am an adult, and I enjoy the banter with my local rivals but do not wish to see them go out of business, not even Coventry.
Would I concern myself with how much they were paying for players? No not really. It would be their money so they can do what they like with it. If they can afford it, who I am to say otherwise. I haven't criticised WHU for example for allegedly paying Nolan incredible wages for this league.
For me, there is a huge difference (that most ill-informed fans don't seem able to see) between Leicester's situation and that of, say, Cardiff. Cardiff, we are told, were spending money they didnt have on players they couldn't afford (ring any bells?) all in the hope they would get promoted and they would then be able to pay off their debts. Leicester on the other hand are not spending money we don't have.
Have we overpaid for players? Quite possibly. Will we continue to overpay? Yes, also quite possible. Are we showing ambition? Yes. Is that wrong? Absolutely not.
You state that you just want to see some reinvestment in your team. I agree with you, Ken Bates is clearly sucking your club dry. And I find that a shame for a club of Leed's stature.
But why should Leicester not be afforded the same opportunity to invest in the club if there is someone out there willing to back it to the hilt?

What a splendid contribution, thank you.
A Leeds fan for over 40 years? I doubt that.
Beckford to Leicester may all be rubbish.....
"BBC Sport understands that Yakubu will be joining Blackburn from Everton today. The striker is on his way to Ewood Park as we speak."
Unlikely that both would be sold.
1884, for what it's worth, I agree with your sentiments.
I don't want to see any club go out of business.
It is a concern about money, but any fan wants to see their club do well and be able to compete and if your acquisitions are coming out of owners pockets then good luck to you and my advice is enjoy it whilst you can, you never know when it will change.

If we had a discussion at length on the current state of football, I'm sure we would agree on lots of points.
However on the point at hand, ie my moral judgement of Leicesters transfer dealings.....
Well we have to agree to disagree because I am a busy man with things to do.
Let's leave it on this (which is applicable to both of us)
... If the shoe were on the other foot

Quite right Jonty, i'm glad there are sensible Leeds fans posting.
The money being spent is that of the owners, and is not being secured against Leicester's future. Naturally, if we fail to get promoted, players will leave. In addition, the amount being spent this summer would not repeated again if we are in the same league (I assume).
From a purely simplistic point of view, I of course have no control whatsoever over the spending of Leicester City Football Club and so, as you rightly point out Jonty, all I can do is enjoy the ride while it lasts.
