Beevers was our best player last night.

I just don't think Meggo will sell him. If he gets rid of any of the defenders, surely it would be Reda.

But this is what I cannot understand, why did Meggy play reda for those two games that R Jones was injured and not Beevers?

It seems to me that Reda gets ahead of Beevers so if the Dingle story is true then it wouldnt suprise me if Beevers did go seeing as he is seemingly out of Meggys first team plans

OR, do we need the strength in depth at the back - it's a long season. Could we afford to lose a defender?

posted on 31/8/11

Well, we currently have 5 CB's, 2 RB's and 3 LB's, two who can play CB & LB too (Reynolds & Krasnik) and 2 of them on loan till Jan-Feb, it'll be intresting what Meggy does in Jan. At the moment theres strength in depth. Dont think it would hurt if Reda or Beevers left, though id prefer it if Reda left

"Beevers was our best player last night."

Seriously, I thought he was poor. Offered no help to his partner, lost his man for both the goalline clearance & when they hit the bar & generally looked like he was going through the motions.

ROD, Palmer, Reynolds & Nyoni were the stand out performers!

No one could have offered help to his partner last night. I thought Beevers looked good on the ball and seemed solid.

I'll give you the corners.

I thought Beevers looked good his partner was all over the shop tho. Well I for one be disapointed if he goes, always prefer him over reda and would of thought he would be 3rd choice after batth and jones.

Of course they could, talking to him for a start would have helped. The backpass he left short for example, Beevers was stood there, could see the striker gambling on it & just allowed him to do it rather than letting him know, didn't even react to it until ROD had saved it. Just little things like that would have helped the kid so much.

He looked ok defesively but that's the minimum I'd have expected. In terms of his passing & his general demeanour I just thought it was all very laboured, just going through the motions & the kind of performance I'd expect from a player who wasn't really bothered anymore (his first pass of the night summed it up), not the performance of a player trying to force his way back into the first team & show the manager what he's capable of.

It's a shame because as recently as the backend of last season before he was smashed in the face, he looked like he was getting back to what we knew he could be & imo a good Beevers is twice the defender of Rob Jones.

Changing the subject ever so slightly, dosnt Lowe look like JOC's uglier, but far more talented twin

to be fair Lowe looks like one of my mates who works a a building site lol. But I hope we keep hold of Beevers tell him you can learn under Jones and possibly be first choice next term, be a shame to lose him for peanuts

Only a rumour but apparently we've had 2 bids for Roberts turned down by Huddersfield today!

posted on 31/8/11

Mixed messages now....

Someone on Twitter saying Hudders accepted 250k plus add ons & Seth saying whilst there is something in the story, nothing accepted yet.

New Beevers rumour is MK Dons on loan, not Rochdale!

prefer a short term loan deal for Beevers if im honest to a sale.

not sure on Roberts as I dont really know enough about him .... any good ?

Roberts would be a great signing - hope it's true.

Maybe something in it too as he's let Coke go on loan to Bury. Different positions I know but at the moment seems we're playing Lines wide left - could see him move inside.

We really need another midfielder I think. Apart from that we are sorted; not necessarily the players I wanted but it's Megson's choice eh..

Roberts can play on either wing and loves to take players on and also a dead ball specialist.
Played 5 and scored 3 goals so far this season.

so Coke Definitely gone?

Yes: Coke had gone to Bury on loan.

season loan i take it ?

shame as I liked him but could be what he needs to get back to full match fitness

posted on 31/8/11

I've not seen the Coke deal confirmed anywhere buteverything suggesting it will happen.

posted on 31/8/11

I've not seen it either but would of thought he would be 3rd choice center mid behind Prutton and Semedo

posted on 31/8/11

Coke had to go, he'd gone a bit flat IMO

posted on 31/8/11

Coke going out on loan makes perfect sense. If he does well we get a better more confident player back and if not we sell him in January or end of season.

I hope he sorts himself out and comes back as he may be one of the squad that could make the step up if we get promoted.

Roberts would be a great signing. He is versatile, scores goals and it on paper weakens a rival.

posted on 31/8/11

coke promised so much with his early performances but agree that he's gone flat. He could do a great job for Bury.

I think Johnny was being witty prof.

So, looks like the only possible signing we MIGHT get is Gary Roberts.
