There is no point in sacking him now. I'm never a fan of sacking managers in the middle of the season
We're still easily in contention for a top four finish. Not too long ago, we were sitting closely behind the first place and seemed to be on the right track. The worst decisions usually result from emotional overreactions, which a sacking of van Gaal right now would be. A manager taking over at the current point in time would require plenty of weeks to get acquainted with the team and implement his game plan.
We're not doing well and unless we seriously climb back up the ranks, van Gaal should be gone at the end of the season regardless. But as of right now, things, despite being bad, are still not bad enough in terms of the entire season to sack him.
The only reason to sack him now is if we viewed Mourinho as our manager of the next few years. I wouldn't be opposed to it, but IIRC Sir Bobby Charlton was one of the people who was completely against bringing him on.
Outside of Mourinho and Ancelotti, who is most likely gonna wait and see what happens at Bayern, there's no good alternative left.
Interesting point of view. Rooney and Mata are significant weaknesses in our side

Plenty of alternatives everywhere and all of them better than what you have right now.

Wish we could risk a manager with a lower profile but we just cannot. He will be blown away by the characters in the club.
Who chose to go into the season with a small squad?
Who chose to hopefully (yes I mean hopefully) spend £58m on a teenager?
You're acting like this is a squad LvG inherited, this is a squad that has seen £250m spent in 1 year
What about the 19 players that left or were moved on?

LvG didn't fancy Rafa from the start, Rafa is better than what we have
ADM said he fell out with LvG based on what LvG tried to make him do, ADM is better than what we have
We put Smalling up front, Wilson surely is better than Smalling
Hernandez, see Wilson
Welbeck is better than Depay
That is 5 players he didn't need to get rid of
What a terrible thing to want? A small team so that youth players can come through. People harp about united way but really dont know what it means. Its not his fault players you harp on about are not championship standard. Unsellable players I might add.
He has sold off ton of player s many of you all wanted gone. Replacing them cannot be all at once. And will also cost much more than the foolishly touted 250 million (which include the cost of di maria and falcao, big name signings, and Shaw that's 100 million right there) let's ignore many were signings we made to prove to some fans "we were serious" and many were excited for.
Our attack cannot be improved when it means benching almost 20 million in wages per year. Its not just happening not without serious proof they are she it which we have now. We need to spend another 250 million to get in what we need and we MUST get rid of Rooney. We cannot manage him any more
Just read a stat on SSN, hardly any difference between Moyes and LvG
Would Welbeck have played from the treatment table? He is not better than Depay apart from tracking back
Wilsons side lost yesterday with 2 shots
ADM never wanted to stay here.
Rafa was injured all the time

Truly not understanding how welbeck and Hernandez name is being broughbup here. Do you know how maligned they were when they were here? Not one player sold was cried for now its the new stick to beat lvg with. I cried for Rafa and nani leaving, even welbeck BEFORE they left and people said falcao rooney rvp superstars best attack ever rubbish. They could not stay that is not even a topic to bring back. When they left most of you ignored we had an aging syriket force a were willing to let go. SLM I sure if we searched we will find evidence of you supporting them leaving now u are harping like you cried for them leaving . welbeck who you used to blast you are now bringing up?
Most managers would give their right arm for the opportunity to build their own side / squad using Unites resources.
Why is this seen as an obstacle for LVG?

It is a terrible thing to want. The state he's left our squad in is a joke. It's all well and good cutting squad size down it you have talented youth who are good enough coming through. But we don't. We have a lot of mediocre youth who are being thrown into the lion's den through necessity, not choice.

Because too many idiots think that those old players are good, especially the likes of Woodward who signed rooney and mata and saw it as a feather in his cap. Many still love seeing Carrick's passing ignoring his flaws. Many believe fellaini causing chaos in the box is a good thing.
Fans still think we can squeeze results with rubbish like under fergie. He was a one in a million manager.
Neither Carrick or Fellaini are starters though thanks to LvG spend

Your pain is talking. We lost pogba because of it. The prem is littered with players who could do a job for us now. Against Leicester we played against 2 of them with Drinkwater more than able to stand his own in this midfield. Against Bournemouth their match winner was josh king, former united boy. Yesterday we went against another united lad.
They have been able to perform and be at us with people we discarded. How about we use the ones we have? The 99 squad is so loved because they were so many united young boys in and came to the fore because out previous great manager did exactly what lvg is doing now. I can never fault that.
And in any case we are light at centre back and attack, and it did not show in defence till recently, and as I have explained for a million times you do not want peace if you sign a player who is an experienced striker who can bench rooney, captain and superstar player who was going to shine. That's why we bought am 18 year old. If we got Cameron Jerome he would bench rooney. Can you imagine the repercussions of that? We are in a real world here. Rooney needed to be found out before he could be replaced mata too. Now if January comes and he does nothing then I join the lvg out crew.
We are in the real world and in the real world we don't currently have a single youth player who is good enough to play for Manchester United. If they were good enough, they would be forcing their way into the first team, not being thrown in as a last resort due to injuries.
Even if they were world beaters, throwing them in when we're struggling and have an injury crisis is an atrocious way to blood a youngster. You should bring them in over time and eventually they will become a mainstay in the team if they're good enough
OP, you're forgetting the biggest thing here. He's lost the squad. They're not playing for him anymore.
So you can live in the dreamworld where players like McNair and Lingard are good enough to help us get top 4 or you can accept that LVG gambled and lost.
He will be sacked and a decent and relevant one will come in

We are like a short blanket that covers the head and not the toes but then the toes but not the head.
LVG has had 18 months and we're as bad as under Moyes right now. Worse even as he never lose twice in a row to promoted sides.
Yesterday was LVG's last game thank fack. Once we get a capable manager in we'll start to click again.

Good thing they are average players who we should have sold. Pure overrated trash. I do hope they act like the fools at chelsea . we lose nothing if the likes of rooney mata and young are grumbling. Memphis and martial want to play. Smalling want to play. Blind Herrera and players who are the future want to play for him. Get rid of overrated time wasters. They are not worthy of playing for our club. Collecting a salary for nothing.
We have to start from scratch. Those players who have looked so she it need to go.
I don't mind. It took me a while to accept Moyes wasn't the guy.
LVG is no better. There was not a single person on here that could watch yesterday and think anything in the Moyes reign was a lower ebb.
