Jesus Robb did you really create an article so that you can record people's stance on Jose so that you can use it as a stick to beat them with should they change their mind in the future. Are you really taking time to gather ammunition for future arguments on a football forum? You need to take a break from this place.

Exactly, people act like Jose killed someone. He's flawed but so are most people. People sound like they want us to get a saint in to manage our club who can also win every game 5-0.

No,if you want a nice guy with a record of success, plus connection with the club, Laurent Blanc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Blanc is a long shot. And he certainly wouldn't come now. LVG may well be gone in days (I think he will be) so we need a manager who's available now. Jose is that man.

Put me down for some Jose love, Robb.

In a straight fight I'd prefer Pep but if we wait around until the end of the season we seriously risk missing top four again. Imperative we get CL football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

or based on maureen this season we could be come relegation candidates
-----------------------------

We're going the wrong way in the table as it is. So it's a gamble worth taking.

Futhermore, it seems odd that you're willing to put so much stake in Jose's last few months at Chelsea as being instructive of him as a manager. He wins trophies wherever he goes and we desperately need to stop the rot. Mourinho is the smart move.

I'm sure most of us here have done worse than him so I won't be judge and jury on here on that score.

I idolised Cantona when I was a teenager but what he did at Palace was worse, IMO, than anything Mourinho has done.

He attacked a fan and if a Liverpool player would have done that we'd have been all over it.

If people don't want Jose please base it on the football side of things at least. If he got us playing well and winning most would forget his past.

If we want a nice guy may as well hire Hodgson.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed.

I was saying yesterday that Jose is kind of like the managerial equivalent of Cantona. You'll get controversy and the odd act of sheer stupidity, but you'll also get charisma, style and a pure winner.

Not at all my good man. It's just always interesting seeing how people think. Some people would have you believe that no-one wants Jose. This says otherwise.

It'll be interesting in a year from now if Jose is doing well and is successful if anyone pretends they always wanted him.

I have zero problems if people wanna do that - you may not know this but I change my opinions sometimes. But at least this is an iron clad page to come back to in case people swear blindly they always wanted Jose (but didn't)

And that's why I've always admired him. Football is entertainment and virtually all people I admire in any form of art or entertainment is flawed and had both good and bad sides, the thing is you want them to offer you more good than bad, something I feel Jose does and would do with us.

It's why I also had reservations from the beginning with LVG, I could see a man who offered both but was concerned we would see more bad than good and that is what has happened.

laurent blanc over mourinho

heck even fat sam would be above mourinho

anyone who wants mourinho in charge of united doesnt really care for united and it's traditions, just quick cheap success and 3 years from now we will be in the same mess as when fergie left. probably worse based on chelsea's fall from grace this season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rubbish.

What about the mutual respect between Ferguson and Mourinho? Mourinho has the personality to succeed at United, and Ferguson knows it.

Not only that, but Mourinho would love to be given the chance. The United job is his dream and his destiny.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

let me refresh you on a few things

mourinho physically assaults other managers and insults his doctors based on their gender. he abuses managers like wenger who are 10x the manager he is.

mourinho has been sacked from 3 clubs now. he had chelsea fighting a relegation battle

he is not proven to take a struggling team and make them champions. everything is ready made for him or he has a big warchest available to him.

bringing through youngsters or buying potential for future planning? forget it. all about short term success and his cv

he falls out with the media, is childish, is petulant and hated by all rivals fans. he is an embarassment to the sport.

oh and he plays worse football than lvg bar the odd freak results.

you want this man to be man utd manager based on his friendship with fergie? heck fergie went down in my estimation (only a little) because he gave his buddy moyes a job at united. i think it's safe to say we need to move on from fergie.

there is no indication united is his dream job. he rejected us for chelsea when fergie left. this man is no way a good fit for united. he may get us trophies but we will sell our soul and jepordise the stability of the club

I was happy with the appointment of both Moyes and Van Gaal. I've no problem admitting that.

Most of us aren't too bothered about being proved right or wrong. We just want to see United doing well again, which will only happen under the right manager. For me, that's Jose.

I was for Moyes. I gave LVG a bit of time but like the Spurs fans who didn't want him, I could tell what was to come. And I was right. I take no joy in that.

Is CL even that essential? Sadly these days other than its financial reward I don't see what much else we get out of it other than looking krap.
----------------------------------------

I'm not expert on these matters but I understand a lot of our financing/sponsorship rests on being in the CL - so the likely impact on signing good players and remaining competitive in the market could be jeopardised with constant spells out. Not to mention extra revenue at the gates on game day.

Even under Fergie's last few years, we always did well in the CL - we just need a top manager at the helm again.

We've also seen just how hard it is to consistently get back in the CL once a team falls out of it a couple of times. There's a real danger at the moment that Spurs, Klopp's Liverpool, a renewed Chelsea, plus City (maybe under Pep), Arsenal and the odd outsider will start to consolidate those top positions in the coming seasons as they improve. We're stagnating at best and in reality starting to fall away.

I think we're in an even more important phase in our history than when Fergie left. We all expected a dip when Fergie retired but we need to steady the ship pretty damn quickly before it becomes a long Liverpool-esque slog.

Tbh I wasn't pleased with either Moyes or LVG as I felt that neither were right. I was one of the few who really wanted Jose first time and was hoping for someone like Klopp second time.

This time with all things considered and my feeling that pep is unlikely, Jose seems the obvious choice and a very good one at that.

No I get your point, it's just sad that the main reason for wanting to be in it doesn't seem to be to do well and enjoy some games. It's all about the financial side and how it improves us as a brand.

I don't know anyone who is 100% happy with Jose. I too would have loved Klopp.

Pep is the sexy choice. But Jose is the unpredictable and fun choice.

We seem to do well with a siege mentality at this club.

Adding Jose to United would be like adding Tom Cruise to a Tarantino movie.

you were not right

you supported lvg

as soon as the results got shaky last season you started an agenda because you like to cause controversy here and be a contrarian,

you being you, you wouldnt back down because you'd be wrong again. especially after your support for moyes.

and a year later lvg might be sacked despite reaching his targets last season. a whole year later.

you were in no way "right", you have never been right in any prediction you've made here ever.

So you don't think Jose can play good football?

I guess you missed when he beat Arsenal 6-0? Or Swansea 5-0? or Everton 6-3? Or Schalke 5-0 and 3-0 (both away from home). Or Spurs 4-0?

I half agree. Under LvG, the CL games were awful. No doubt about that.

But I have to say I enjoyed our CL games under Moyes. The Bayer Leverkusen games were good, the Olympiakos games were tense and the Bayern games were a great spectacle.

I'm not saying the performances were great as oten as I'd have liked but you'd be a hard man to please if you weren't entertained.
