He isn't a bum but he has to be the laziest player I've ever seen in the famous red shirt
He doesn't have a bad attitude and seems like a quiet bloke but my god he's static - I would love him to prove me wrong but can not see anything changing here
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that's simply not true, Balotelli was a lot lazier than Benteke and he was here only last season.

I assume you had your eyes closed when Balotelli was playing then?
Balotelli's body language and stroppy attitude highlighted his lazyness but i genuinely believe Tekkers is lazier than him and anyone else I've seen
I can't believe this laziness and static rubbish, does anybody expect migs to run around? No, his job to save. What good would Tekkers do running around midfield whilst all of our midfielders are trying 40yard wonder strikes?

We need to move away from buying players for the sake of it and actually have a coherent plan of what we need in each position.
Only 3 players have more than Bacca in Serie A so he is doing OK, but irrespective, we didn't HAVE to buy someone.
We were already buying Ings and Origi, two strikers much more suited to the other players in the squad. We could have kept the money for a later date.
I know fans don't like that, and have a spend spend spend mentality, but they don't like flop signings either.
Please please please can the board let Klopp shape the team over the next few years with players he and his team really want instead of just randomly buying footballers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Buying a striker was an absolute necessity. Unfortunately across Europe there is a real shortage of quality centre forwards, particularly the type of player that we have been looking for.
It's not often you find centre forwards than can do it all- i.e lead the line on their own, hold the ball up well,
make runs in behind to make space for the attacking players behind -as well work hard and press intensively. We were lucky to have two of the best in the world but they no longer play for us for different reasons.
Benteke was the best option available and its understandable why we signed him. He doesn't fit the system well but he will still score goals, and very few others in the squad provide that consistently.
It's easy in hindsight to say we don't we wait for someone else , but it's likely we'd have the same problem in the next window.
In hindsight I'm glad we did sign him, it would have been disastrous given our injury situation now if we hadn't.

In fairness with Mario out the door we were left with a broken Sturridge; Origi who had scored 8 goals in an inferior league and been named in the leagues worst team; and Ings who had scored 11 but was making a significant step up in expectation.
I'm not sure anyone would have been happy going into the season with those 3 (2 if you consider Sturridge's injury).
I kind of agree, Benteke was the best there was available.
You never have to buy a player.
'Best available' is just short termism.
It just means 'we don't really want him, not really, but he'll do I suppose'.
I'd agree with that in most cases, but in this case our striker position was so poor that it actually was a necessity.
We had Lambert, Borini and Balotelli for Christ sake.
Take out Bentekes goals out of this season we could well be in the relegation zone.
That's just hyperbole.
We are 13 pts clear of the drop zone as it is, and obviously the season would have been totally different anyway had we gone down a different route.

Quality player not helped by the system we play. We are the worst crossers of the ball in the league by miles, not his fault.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow...it doesnt help if the intended target stands like a lump in the middle of the CBs and makes no effort to attack the crosses.
Another thing on Benteke, he's been on the receiving end of some quality chance and failed to score from less than 10 yards.
Just accept that maybe he isnt that good. Perfect plan B though
He also, almost always wants the ball to hit him and never targets space to run into.
When you hit it at him he then complains that it wasn't put in space.
And his touch is worst than Lukaku.
That first half performance and especially the first 20 mins won't have been possible if he was playing. Firmino isn't perfect but he finds space, runs about and presses. He was a good focal point for our AMs and wide players.
We don't get that with Benteke.

brilliant plan b, if we paid half the fee would have been an great signing
Fee doesnt matter...I'll keep him in the squad until he feels he needs to move but we should definitely look for a Studge-like striker to make the system work.
Or ride it out and depend on Origi until Ings comes back and see where we're at then.
I think the games against Chelsea and City showed the best way to use Benteke while we have him.
Let Firmino run his butt off for an hour or so then bring Big Ben on for a completely different problem for defenders in the last 30 mins or so.
It's not a coincidence that our best performances have been when he hasn't started, and most of our worst ones have been when he has.
Watford was the exception, but to be fair we didn't intend for our keeper to chuck one in the net after 2mins.
He ruffles the onion bag, so despite his less than scintillating form, I'm more than happy to see if he can adapt to playing for us.
With the right additions to the squad in the summer, I'm still hopeful that Benteke will be an asset to the squad. He has still scored goals even if his general play hasn't been that easy on the eye.
