Wait until january or next summer and we can sign some young exciting players but for now arteta can help us lift the team into the top 4 again

He is creative. If it is Arteta or nobody I would take Kaka.

If we do buy him and he can stay fit (big question mark) then I think he will be loved at the Grove

Granted I've never seen them play, but signings like Hazard, Goetze and M'Vila would be the kind to propel us back to challenging for the title.

The signings we've made are decent, and may help reestablish us as a challenger for the top 4 this season. As per usual though, it indicates the fierce lack of ambition at Arsenal. We're signing players that will suffice.

It's dissappointing.

he definatly adds a bit of quality and creativity and is better than what we've got

I agree.....we want experienced and we have in Mertesacker, Santos but we moan that Arteta is too old ??

Stupid....but I can confirm its too late to sign him......45 min to fly to London and get a medical....we know the medical is a 10 week affair for us alone....

We will fail in this one.....

I'm glad he's signed. I won't lie, I would've preffered Götze/Hazard/Martin, but he's alot better than Benayoun on his own. Him and Benayoun good signings I say. Still if you put them both together, they still aren't as good as Cec, but they are better options than our current midfield esp Arteta.

That's a comment. Odd, all this contradiction I'm agreeing with.

We're still not sure if we've signed him yet!

Arteta is a good player, but one who hasn't played 30 league games in a season since 2006/07.
And thats without the extra strain of the Champions League, and of course he doesn't play international games either.

Big question marks over how many games we can get out of him...

I'm very pleased that he is likely to join Arsenal. His EPL experience will pot him ahead of lots of the foreign players that play in lesser leagues and are unproven as said above.

If only we can get Cahill and sell Djorou we will be up and running.

Arteta is a good buy. We should have signed him 2 to 3 seasons ago already.

anyone else worried we wont have enough time to complete this deal?

There won't be a medical before 11pm, but there does not have to be.
As long as the paperwork is done and he is registered then he is ours.

Even details of contract don't have to be completed for a player to be registered.

i've liked him for a while, i was hoping we'd sign him when hleb left.

he hasn't signed yet though, i'm gonna assume he won't until it's announced

Really hope we don't mess up this deal now. What an underwhelming summer this has been.
