Playing football as a kid and constantly hearing 'close 'em down!', made me stop playing it. I just wanted to be a cultured lazy European style player in my head and I had my manger screaming at me for not running around enough.
Yeah good points about France.
I think being hosts and having this stuff with Paris happen could galvanise them.
Dechamps captained France to a world cup in their own country don't forget so if there's anyone that can stress the importance of winning a trophy on home soil its him. France have won the last two tournaments they've hosted as well.
But yeah, on the otherhand it could be too much and they implode. I fancy the former, though.
It was weird that England literally dominated Europe for close to a decade but never did well internationally. Even in Italia 90 they were pretty poor when you look at it again
A lot of the best players in those teams were from Scotland, Wales and Ireland, though.
I have a feeling there may/will be another attack during the Euros this summer. Seems likely when you see how hard it is to stop it. I hope not but I get the feeling where once we spoke about hooligans ruining a tournament it will be terrorists

True but I remember reading that in the late 70s England fielded like 8 Liverpool players and didn't even qualify for the world cup
Yeah, it wasn't just English players, that was the problem. If there was a British side I'm sure they would have got a few more trophies.
I've got a sneaking feeling for France at the Euros. I also think that with all the sh-t happening there the Euros must be a prime location for any idiot.
I think we were poorly managed in the late 70s and early 80s though which didn't help. You wonder what would have happened had the FA grown some balls and appointed Clough.

How would the Daily Mail react if the terrorists targeted, and wiped out, the hooligans?

It would be an epic fight. Like those late 90s MTV celebrity death matches
Imagine if the hooligans combined and fought Isis, lol.
You may be right, Rob.
England were managed badly as well I believe. But was just making the point about the English sides in Europe.
No doubt it's because they weren't technically good enough in qualifying eh Nohlman?
It would be like the Suicide Squad. But with snakebites and bacon butties

I S, I S I, I S I S, Isis!
Robb has put the kiss of death on Belgium
France have a good chance
Lloris
Varane
Matuidi
Pogba
Griezzman
Lacazette
Martial
Benzema
To be fair so do Belgium..
Courtois
Kompany
Alderwereid
Vertonghen
Witsel
Hazard
Fellaini
Mertens
Lukaku
Benteke
Dinc
Belgium have a chance if they can get a front three of Hazard, Lukaku and De Bruyne firing. That's enough talent to hurt any team, especially on the counter.
I'm just not sure whether they will. Hazard in particular doesn't seem to be that good for Belgium and he's hardly going to be full of confidence coming off the back of this season.
Excuse me
Stones
Jones
Wilshere
Barkley
Lallana
Milner
Vardy
Rooney
I wonder how Portugal will do. Think they've improved under their new manager and have some talented players, and of course Ronaldo.
There seems to be a lot of highly rated young players from Portugal at the moment. How good they are I'm not too sure.
But I remember mentioning a few years ago that I could see them having a renaissance in a few years as they restructured their league with a view to improving the talent pool by allowing the big Portuguese clubs to play B teams in the second division.
May not bw enough for the next tournament but may be one worth watching out for in future tournaments.
Could do with Ronaldo adapting to a cf role as well. Especialy because I can see him playing until his late 30's.
