Yep city won their first four, so we were already 9 points behind them!

So....we're still in great form when others around us have been dropping points....good signs

We made a lot of changes in the summer and started with a new defence, Dier at DM, Alli, injuries and a loss of form for Kane.....we had no right to start fast, next season we should expect more.

You could more easily point to more recent results. If wed beaten Leicester wed be top. Overall, we cannot be too critical as no one predicted such a strong season

Another plus we have suffered injuries and actually coped for once. I think I saw a table and we were at least in the top 6 or 7 for having the most injured days in the league. That could be mainly due to Pritchard though but Nabil, Mason, Mousa, Chadli, Njie, Son have all suffered on the sidelines at some point. Hope Verts is not out for too long but again this is a test the squad have to overcome. We could do with another centre half imo.

And it's worth noting, that we have had to cope with Europa and other cups in that 19 game period

Im sure those around us could point to bad patches or games they should of won but didn't. For example Leicester have recently missed match winning pens against Bournemouth and Villa. We've got ourselves into a great position and its what happens from here that matters.

Ranieri said this weekend: “I’d like another striker to give support to the other three [Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki, Leonardo Ulloa], because our strength is playing at a high intensity.

“It’s not possible to play at high intensity for all the season. Everyone is reinforcing or taking players because they want to save their season or want to win something."

*********************************
Now, we play "high intensity" football. So.... where's the strike partner for Kane?
And ... who will replace Vertonghen if he's out injured?

We got a lot of stick for changing our style against you but when I heard Ranieri say it was to conserve our energy due to the fixture congestion, it became tactical genius and his experience shining through.

We successfully negotiated a very tough set of fixtures and continued to pick up positive results, when far below our best.

Where we have two styles, high pressing and sitting deep, Spurs have the one and to be fair your energy levels and intensity, so far anyway, have maintained consistently high and you've been able to play the same every game. Fair play 👏

Spurs could potentially play another 29 games but would hope to play at least two more FA cup and four more EL, so another 21 games minimum.

As Ranieri said though, can that be maintained for the duration of the season, especially with a very difficult March and April?

Oh and I think we're the most consistent team in the league, just two defeats and only three in 32 😉

Your defence has also been brilliant and Vertonghen and Alderwiereld are probably the best partnership in the league and with only 19 goals conceded, it would be hard for anyone to argue that.

Since the Arsenal defeat, we do have one of, if not the best defence in the league though. Conceded only 12 in 16 games, keeping seven clean sheets.

In the last 10, we have only conceded six, having played United, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, City and Spurs.

It's a pity we didn't play with Simpson and Fuchs as full backs all season because our current average, with this defence, would be 28 over a season. Not bad for a dodgy defence.

Not wumming just debating 👍

Just for the record, I'm not interested in arguing with you and I will choose what I write more carefully 👍

Spurs are a rival (league position wisr) and I will take an interest in what is happening, for obvious reasons. Same with Arsenal and City but I'm not here to wum!

I'll even go one further and apologise for being dismissive of your squad. You are better than I thought and I genuinely hope you finish 3rd above Arsenal but still below us of course 👍

Arro, when your like this you are fine but you do ruin yourself at times on here with your arrogance.

It's not arrogance mate, I'm the least arrogant person you'll meet (in the flesh), I'm just defensive but maybe too defensive and yeah I can see how it comes across.

It really isn't my intention to wind people up and I apologise for my part 👍

A lot of responsibility has to be taken from you guys too for being so disrespectful towards us and me, for suggesting we could challenge for the same league position this season, that was where it all started.

We're both (me and the majority of this board) responsible for what has gone on because we've both been disrespectful towards each others squads but let's draw a line under it yeah? 👍

Yeh we have wound you up I'm not denying that but coming on saying " your team ain't really that great" when clearly spurs are a very good side and you are going to get a reaction. Most if not all spurs fans on here have given Leicester tonnes of credit including myself. Water under the bridge...... For now

Yes... well this is what I feared from a crowded fixture list:
"Spurs are worried key defender Jan Vertonghen, 28, may have suffered knee-ligament damage which would rule him out for the rest of the season."

Now wot??

Who'd have thought we'd be sweating on news of a vertonghen injury after his shoddy form under AVB and sherwood. But him and Toby have been fantastic and we really don't want him out for a long stretch

Each club challenging for the title can look back and think "if only we won that game" or "if only we scored that penalty" etc... All teams have bad patches and all teams have unlucky games/streaks - if we don't win the league then the first 3 games are just one of a thousand factors you could consider as to why things panned out as they did

If we bothered to get in another striker when Lamela was dodgy as hell and Kane was missing sitters then maybe we wouldn't have had that poor start.

When you compare the points gained this season from the same fixtures as last, we're actually not doing as well as you may think. We were 8 points ahead at one stage, and now we're something like 3 points. Yet we still find ourselves comfortably in 4th and involved in a title race. Somewhat fortunate the top end of the table has been a lot weaker this season.
