Djokovic isn't a much better player than Murray. Its marginal but Novak has the slightly better mental strength.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mental strength is a big facet of sport. Look at athletes like Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell. Powell religiously chokes in the finals because he lacks it

ahahaha

What planet are you on? Novak is a much better player, hence why he wins. He's one of and potentially the greatest ever. Murray is not as talented or as good.. mental strength is also a huge skill and Murray lacks this and the general ability to put player away. He lacks the consistency the big boys have and the ability to win in the big moments. This is major. There are many talented players on tour.. murray is no better than the likes of Stan tbh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Murray is no better than Stan??? What explain yourself. Murray has about 20 more titles than Stan and has been in around 9 slam finals, fail to see go he is not better than Stan. Stupid comment.

If anything, in his hey day, Fed had little competition - Roddick??!!! Then Nadal burst on the scene, soon followed by Djokovic and Murray.

If anything, Djokovic has had more competition with a peak Nadal and Murray, and a still strong Federer. It's only in the last couple of years that Djokovic has really stepped it up to be clear number 1.

You could argue that it's unfortunate for all 3 of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic to be around at the same time, as they could have had more titles, just as Murray would be on a handful titles if the other 3 weren't around at the same time also.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This. Although I think Murray has underachieved compared to the others. I feel like he should have kicked on to win more majors after he won Wimbledon, and he hasn't been able to do that, and maybe never will.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I had hoped that Murray would kick on, but looking back, I'm not sure he has underachieved. Everytime I see Murray play I always think 'be more aggressive', but it's his style of play and one that has got him far. In all the finals he has lost, I don't think he's choked, but his opponent has just produced the goods.

And he's simply not quite as good the other 3, but still better than the rest - both he and 'Stan' have 2 grand slams, but Murray is a better, more consistent player, Stan is streaky but when he produces the goods he can be unbeatable in a way that Murray is not.

Murray is not a 'poor man's' Djokovic, but a 90% Djokovic - still able to beat most, but lacks that bit of magic when it matters at the very highest level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He may not have choked, but I do think he'll let emotion get the better of him. Whereas the others can hide it better or use it to their advantage, it seems as if it takes over Murray and makes him more vulnerable.

It's a shame he isn't still with Lendl because it's when he won his slams and looked very solid mentally.

I suppose United will also think Murray will go down as no better than Hewitt (who also has 2 slams) when Murray's career is over.

Arsene. That's like saying Man U are only better than Accrington because they have a better mental strength

I think that losing Lendl as coach was a setback for Murray. Of course impossible to say for certain if he would have won more slams with Lendl, but the empathy between the 2 was perfect - Lendl knew exactly what Murray was going through, both in many ways had similar style of play and Lendl knew how to get the maximum out of himself.

I think in light of how good the big 3 are, it's easy to forget just how good a player Murray is - comparing him to the other 3 just does dis-service to him. It's almost like when Rooney is compared to the likes of Ronaldo and Messi. Just because he's not of that calibre, does not make him a poor player - just a very good player compared to truly great players
It's all what ifs and buts,

Think Rafa should approach Andre Agassi for guidance - he was World No 1 in 1995, dropped to World No 141 in 1997 and then made an incredible comeback returning to World No 1 in 1999 followed by his most successful 4 year run. Agassi suffered from both injuries and personal issues - really think he could be the one to help Rafa get out of this rut.

Djokovic is marginally better in pretty much every department than Murray

Out of the big 3 Nadal is/was my favourite - I just liked his never say die attitude, and you always felt he was just working so hard to win every point. I'm not sure if his scenario is quite the same Agassi's, and during the time that Agassi came back there was no-one really outstanding (post Sampras peak, pre Federer peak). I just sadly feel that Nadal has got the most out of his body, he's no longer the fittest man on the court, and he's had a good 10 years at the top - his success came to him at a younger age than both Federer and Djokovic, and I would be amazed (but gladly be proved wrong) if there is another grand slam in him.

He really has had a dramatic fall since his last French Open win of 18 months ago.

For me he is already the best. He is as closest to unbeatable as you can get in tennis i think

I think he needs to ditch Uncle Toni and get a new coach.

It's what he's famous for, have you been living under a rock?

He's known as the most boring man in sport.

Given Federer is certainly not the player he once was despite a resurgence of late, he has still beaten Djokovic 6 times the last two years.

Federer at his best was the best of all time, and we have been spoilt to see such great players all at one time in Federer, Nadal and Djokovic and to a slightly lesser extent Murray.
