How can you prove me wrong you idiot, its an opinion and one based on the FACT that whilst all around us have strengthed for the second season running we have stood still because Levy couldn't/wouldn't do the deals.
Is no one else wondering where the 30m+ we bid for Rossi and Augero in January has gone? Oh no just me then . Enjoy your wet dreams over Levy and the Europa League...
talksport just said that rumours going around everton forums that moyes may have resigned... next spurs manager?

Parklaneyid,
Welcome to the fairground that is JA606 .
I see your points to be fair but the problem we have at the club at the moment is a Chairman who has a large EGO and a manager who has a large EGO who opens his mouth to much to the media.
Basically we have just got to get on with the season with what we have. Top 4 will be very very difficult for sure. I am not a Harry fan and I do hope come the end of the season he packs his bags and off he goes no matter where we finish.
Parklaneyid.....................................I am afraid I have to agree with Scribe on this one, plus one other fact you got totally wrong, it was a May evening, the 5th to be precise!!
We couldn't get replacements in because we needed to shift players, the dynamics of the market meant that if we shifted (at reduced prices) players out early in the window we would then NEED to replace & other clubs would increase valuations exponentially.
If we had tried for Parker in June, the price would have been nearer £10m, not the £5m quoted.
Levy is a shrewd business man, he was looking at the bigger picture re ongoing stadium costs. The OS (which I am pleased we did not get) would cost us some £200m less than the NPD........................any business would have to look at savings like that seriously.

Thanks Hitman, nice to see someone with a bit of respect and enough about him to be able to see through the myth that Levy is a good businessmen. What good businessmen pasess up the opportunity to cement his teams financial future by investing in a squad that could have kept us in the Champions League for years to come? What shrewd businessmen looks over at his neighbours who have always been above us but see's them struggling and passes up the chance to move ahaead of them for the first time in 20 years.
Sorry but people need to take Levy down from this gold pedestal. He has done some good things for the club but i'm afraid that in the last 2 years he has done nothing but hold us back whilst massaging his own ego. Some questions;
1. Does anyone believe we were serious about spending 30m+ on Augero, Rossi or Llorente in Jan?
2. Who thinks we will finish above 6th this season?
3. Who thinks the total control of transfers in and out of the club should be controlled by someone with no football knowledge or experience?
History is littered with footballers who became managers & were a disaster in the role.
Levy has to control the finances, we are a PLC, accountable to both shareholders and the LSE to run a professional & financially viable business.
Look what happened at Leeds when O'Leary was allowed a free reign, one year of CL glory and then into the financial equivalent of an abyss!!
Harry manages the football side, he indicates (at least I hope he does) to DL who he likes and then negotiations start.
It is a chicken and egg situation really, to attract the top players we need regular CL football, pay higher wages etc...............................however because our income stream is less than Arsenal because of the ground size, we cannot match the current wealth of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manu & Man City that in itself creates a major problem.
We urgently need the NPD to get going, but if we ramp up expenditure on bringing expensive players in we might not have the funds to build the stadium. You see where this is going?
To get financial backing, The Board are going to have to show investors & Banks alike how our business model looks going forward.
I would rather finish 6th & have a solvent club than chase a holy grail that could see us in financial peril.
The days of the manager controlling the finances, Fergie excepted, are gone............................................
Levy is all about Levy, he is not a football man so why is he dealing 100% with transfers with little input from Harry or any other football people at the club. He is a control freak who believes he is the club. Sorry but what do you want for the club?
Whilst I admire your obvious passion parklaneyid, I have to ask you, what evidence do you have that HR or anyone else has little input into transfers?
HR himself has outlined the process, him & his staff indicate their preferences and the approaches are made by Levy & Eales.............however foreign players think the PL is a cashcow & so do other clubs, which is where I think the problem lies.
As for Levy, he is a major shareholder in Enic, which owns the Club and by major I believe he has invested in shares worth millions.
He is a fan of football and I think he has been great for us, do you want to go back to before Alan Sugar when we were very nearly bankrupt? Only Sugar's financial nous saved us and Levy is just ensuring those dark days do not come back.
If we had sold Modric, how long before clubs came knocking for Bale, VDV, Sandro etc??? Look at the Modric thing, if we had sold him in June we would have got only £22m for him, Chelski's latest offer was £40m..................................................now if they had come in for him in June at £40m I would have said let him go......................
Its not about controlling finances, I am not talking about that its about FOOTBALL decisions being made by non football people, i.e. Levy. Its quite clear over the past 18months that Levy is going to Harry with players, ie. VDV etc and for all sense and purposes seems to have total control about who comes in and who goes out of the club. Sorry but i am really uneasy with this and it is the main reason why i just think Levy has far too much control in the club. Yes he is there to 'manage' the club as a PLC but he is not there to recruit player surely. What i will say that if Comolli or Arnesen had been DOF durign the last 3 windows they would have received a slating for what they produced in the transfer market. Make no mistake Levy is now doing their job and has not imo come up with the goods, that is why i can't understand why the guy is looked at as somem god.
As for being happy with 6th (never should be) over financial peril, of course we can't spend what we don't have but remember we supposedly made 3 30m+ bids in January;
a) Where has that money gone?
b) Were they genuine bids or little more than token gestures to try and convince gullable fans into believing we (levy) had some ambition.
c) Harry told us months ago that Levy wnated Modric to stay and was gonna tell him/show him who we were gonna bring in to prove our ambition. Is Friedel, Parker and a loan of Adebayor really that?
Sorry but I just think to many people are just happy to accept what these people do as they hold them in such regard simply cause of the position they hold at the club they 'love'.
parklaneyid.............I can understand your frustrations!
However football is now all about money...................and those that have the most rule! We are unfortunately not one of those with copious amounts of money.
It is reported that Owne Coyle wanted Defoe as part of the Cahill deal.
Otherwise he wanted £17m for Cahill!!
So where has the £30m+ bid money gone? Imo it was never there, mumbo jumbo to fool the fans.
As for our transfer policy. I don't think i have ever heard/read Harry state the process you have stated. I have however heard Harry say "Well Daniel said he could get me xyz" "I don't know about bids for Rossi etc Daniel deals with that".

Exactly.....................................................Levy controls the bids, because he controls the finances. I am sure he speaks to HR re valuations on players. HR is clever, he makes people think he is not really involved so if something goes wrong................its not his fault!!
I think its less a case of Levy out, more likely that 'Arrys off - obviously within the next 12 months. To paraphrase a mate of mine, you dont buy your-soon-to be ex-missus a brand new Merc/ Jag/ Striker. The new honey gets to choose the leather upholstery and all the extras. (A clumsy metaphor but you know what I mean!)
Also re stashing the CL cash,(and the now freed up funds from a reduced wage bill), this is obv going towards the down payment on the NDP mortgage. Levy may have made 'Arry promises re new players earlier this year, but until the riots last month there was no chance that Levy would have been able/ willing to stump up the cash for the high street infrastructure refurb. Now Boris has seen fit to offer us investment, there is a new gameplan. Levy is in for the long haul- and will still be here long after 'Arry has moved on.
Patience Timothy
BlanchflowersBoots.....................Spot on!!
Maybe but ON THE PITCH we are still in serious danger of going seriuosly backwards and being tailed off from the top 4-5, is no one else worried about this or are we all to be marvelling at what a great business man that bloke Levy is?
Good grief, the season has hardly started and we are whinging at the Club already!!
Yes we have lost our first two games, but to the Clubs most likely to finish top & second.............................not such a great disaster really.
But i think it is the manner of the defeats and the fact the Champions League run last year hid what in alot of ways was a very average premiership campaign. I hate to say it but this time last year i was sayign similar about our chances and was excused of being a doom munger etc but the reality is i think if you take away the genuine bias belief that your club is also better than you think, we have issues on the pitch that unless Parker and Adeboyor can solve will result in being short again. Its not whinging its reality..
