So much effort and so much sheite.
Worth the minimal effort for your reaction alone
Aquilani and Meireles for Henderson and Adam. And the dippers stiull maintain they're heading in the right direction
Look at the Chelsea boards, Pool fans now saying Meireles isn't a patch on Charlie Adam
As for Arsenal-Mertesacker should be a brilliant signing. I rate Benayoun and Arteta but whether they're good enough to fill Nasri and Fabregas' boots-bit less sure
Today has been a great day for us. We have made 4 solid signings (plus Park yesterday who I know nothing about) and Liverpool have lost their best midfielder. I'm a lot more confident of 4th spot now. Spurs will be our main rivals IMO. Ade and Parker will be good signings for them and holding on to Modric will be massive for them.
since when has raul meireles been better than steven gerard?
yeah, if Modric puts his disgruntlement behind him and Ade reels in some of his more unsavoury ways, Spurs will be serious contenders for 4th spot. Should be an interesting season
Click, think Gervinho will go down as Nasri's replacement and Arteta replacing Cesc. Arteta obviously is never going to be good enough to fill his boots and whether Gervinho can replace Nasri is also debatable. Yossi seems more of a luxury signing to me, I think as an impact player he will be great for us.
Anyway point I'm making is although these players ain't gonna win us the league they are in my opinion good enough to get us 4th which 99% of Arsenal fans will settle for after what has happened to us this Summer.
and arteta is not the best to be honest he is good but has had injury problems and he isnt a patch on nasri or fabregas
raul merieles is a quality player but arteta is better oh and by the way guys, why are you talking about 4th spot! we're gonna win the quadruple baby
I'm half Portuguese so I am biased, but as impartially as possible, I really think Raul is head and shoulders above Adam and Henderson. I saw them play against us, and in the game last week, and aside from Adam ploughing in the occasional free kick, they are both promising more than they can deliver. If Raul can play regularly for Chelsea, he will have the last laugh.
I think today's signings might just have tipped the scales for us, but we'll have to wait and see.
I'm absolutely certain that the 'loss' of Aquilani was not a 'body blow'!
And Meiriles clearly was not wanted by Dalglish!
thegoldenbootofluis7suarez
Since January when Dalglish took over and got him looking like a world beater whilst Gerrard was busy declining or relaxing in the treatment room. I still can't believe you have sold him, delighted!!!
BillyBob if he clearly wasn't wanted then why did Meireles have to hand in a transfer request? I've been led to believe by numerous Liverpool fans that he was not starting because he was not match fit (funny how now that he has left he wasn't been picked because he wasn't good enough)!!!
True
I've been saying on ther threads taht Yossi is a great little player. If form was the only consideration for team selection at Chelsea Lampard would have been training with the reserves long ago
Yossi has great vision and was imo our best passer of the ball last season. He was our one player capable of reading games and doing those lovely defence splitting long passes
Stop me if you think I'm on the wrong track but I see Arteta as a bit of a stop gap, I think Wenger sees Ramsey and Wilshere filling the void eventually
Actaully can't wait until the Prem kicks off again. Curse these international breaks
i worry for liverpool, nervous times ahead imo. could be looking over their shoulders at sunderland, fulham etc. time will tell.
You are probably right Click but he isn't a bad stopgap to have at all is he!! Better than previous stopgaps we've been subjected to like Almunia and Squillaci
Anyway point I'm making is although these players ain't gonna win us the league they are in my opinion good enough to get us 4th .

This.
Aquilani going was acceptable with meireles still there, but both is losing two creative midfielders just when they were bridging the gap. Bellamy adds a bit of spark and versatility tbf, but is age against him I'm not sure. Like the look of the options arsenal have with Arteta, Ramsay, Wilshire, Frimpong, Benayoun and Song. Good depth imo.
Meireles only turned good since Kenny arrived.
Gerrard is clearly miles better than Meireles and even played well under Roy. We still beat the mancs 3-1 with 1/4 Gerrard who Kenny allowed to have a surgery on the groin that has been troubling him for 2 years.
Stop me if you think I'm on the wrong track but I see Arteta as a bit of a stop gap, I think Wenger sees Ramsey and Wilshere filling the void eventually
...
Couldn't agree more, in fact I think that's why he's ideal. At 29 he's peaking now - give him 2-3 years and he'll be ready to drop more games and start as a sub, so that the younger lads can come to the fore.
Yossi is a 31-year old loanee, and Santos is a 28 year old left back - don't we have developing players who can fill their shoes in a couple of years? Wenger is smarter than he lets on.

So what? Surely that's even more reason to have him there. Unless you're saying Kenny's leaving too!

Maybe because Kenny didn't want to make a loss for him? He handed in transfer request on Monday but wasn't allowed to leave till Chelsea paid £12m (£1m profit).

Kenny knows his strength and weaknesses and thinks players he signed would do better than him?
heres what cesc thinks of it all:
"I dnt undrstand fans telling me we need a replacement after my departure when weve 1 of the best 3 young players in the world @JackWilshere"
im really excited about arteta. he's a proven premier league performer so he can really hit the ground running. there will not be that 3 month adjustment period for him as there usually is for players from different leagues. he's a quality player but the reality is that he's no cesc.
OP doesn't even know our proper lineup
