Forget about Galacticos for now...

Would happily get Mahrez, problem is that the PL clubs don't really need the money the way smaller teams in other countries do.

Kante would rather play Champions League

posted on 9/2/16

Bayern can do it because they are far richer than the others and way more competitive. Players in England can get great wages and European matches at lower teams

I think Mahrez would come for the right fee but it depends if we'd spend the £50 million or so it would cost to get him

posted on 9/2/16

Yeah PL players will be at a premium but definitely less of a gamble.

Lukaku
Stones
Mahrez
Kante
Kane

Would have done nicely... but that would cost us in excess of 200M

I think buying from the Bundesliga will likely make more sense...

Watching the Liverpool West Ham game I remembered that Liverpool paid £12m more for Carroll than they did for Suarez at the same time, crazy.

posted on 9/2/16

Too true, but sometimes you get a Suarez and other times you get a Memphis (still think he'll come good though )... You just never really know what you're gonna get with foreign players.

Carroll could have been a top PL streak if he could keep myself fit... Much like Sturridge... Pool have had some sh!tty luck with strikers with Benteke seemingly looking to follow suit...

They would have cost a fraction of that 12 months ago !
Of course hindsight is a wonderful thing.
We need to be buying more quality in the summer though

I think all those bar Kante were being looked at by all the top clubs though. Their price may have increased but they still would have cost a bomb last summer, there were rumours Barca were looking at Mahrez last season.

posted on 10/2/16

True Last season..
Mahrez £15m at most
Stones £36-40m
Lukaku £25-30m
Kane £45-50m maybe
Mane £25-30m

Not far off £200m then.

If Maureen does come I hope he goes all out for Varane

Would probably try and get Stones considering he wanted him last summer. Personally still not convinced by him though.

Schmeichel is a good keeper and wouldn't cost the amount De Gea or Courtois cost.

Fuchs is one of, if not the best left back in the league and wouldn't cost much money.

Morgan and Huth are one of the best central defender pairing in the league too and again neither would cost the amount spent on Mangala and Otamendi.

I think Drinkwater and Kante are one of the best midfield pairings in the league, remember it's just them two playing against three most games. Neither would cost a huge amount, certainly less than the money wasted on foreign imports

Vardy is better value than most foreign strikers, look at Falcao for example.

Mahrez would cost a fortune, if Hazard is £85m then look somewhere above that because Mahrez is a far better player. Shoot me down for saying it but 14 goals and 10 assists already surpasses Hazards stats last season. Some might say Mahrez also needs to do it next season too to be classed as better but Hazard hasn't, he's been gash. So if he's £85m off the back of a season not as impressive as Mahrez' and this season then yeah expect to pay a fortune. Our owners aren't daft and they don't need the money.

That said, good luck trying to sign any of them 😉👍

Fox - You are right. Drinkwater and Kante have been immense and Mahrez an utter joy to watch. He really is tailor-made for United, but maybe not LVG's side !
Morgan is like Ashley Williams in that they rarely have bad games and are totally committed and strong leaders at the back.
Kasper decent but if De Gea goes we need Butland, Loris or the kid at Milan

By all means try to "cherrypick" but do try to remember that players at leicester (CURRENTLY 1ST) are unlikely to step down do your level. Yes OK you have a bigger chequebook, we all know that but that counts for little these days. Who would go from A CL team (OK maybe only 1 season) to a maybe Europa team. Get back in CL and the situation changes.

Why would any of those player want to move down a level to play for United. You lot cannot just go around now poaching who you want. Football don`t quite work like that now.

In his whole time at leiecster is his certainly not better value than most strikers from the continent.

One good season lets not forget that here

If Leicester win the title it will be very hard to break that team apart. you will have to wait till next summer when they have dropped back down to mid table

Two good seasons for us, one in the Championship when he was instrumental in us winning the league and last season he wasn't utilised properly. He's a goal scorer and in this team he will continue to score goals because of the way we play. He'll do well next season I'm sure of it.

Even if we don't win the league this team won't lose any players in the summer. Vardy has already committed his future to Leicester, with Schmeichel, Simpson and Mahrez all to sign new deals.

As for slipping to mid-table, can you please give me one good reason why that will happen? I'll give you several why it won't.

We will strengthen our squad. Already talk of us signing a highly rated young Dutch playmaker from Feyenoord and we're expected to bid £23m for Musa, which will be a fantastic signing. We also bought Gray and Amartey in January, who are both quality signings too. We will strengthen sufficiently to mount another top four challenge, it's not like we don't have the scouts to find top quality players or the money to entice them.

We're getting better every week. This team has largely been together now for the best part of four years. In that time we have seen them look unstoppable in the first half of a Championship season, to then win two out of the last 17 and just scrape the play-offs, which we lost to Watford. The following season we won the league convincingly breaking numerous records along the way.

Last season they struggled to settle into the league, largely because of Pearson's tactics but when he decided to play to our strengths, we turned the corner and haven't looked back since. At the start of the season we looked shaky at the back and adopted a "we'll score more than you" attitude but of course that wasn't sustainable. Since the Arsenal defeat, Ranieri's tactics have gradually been enforced and now we're better than we've ever been. This group of players are still young and many haven't reached their peak yet therefore are going to continue to get better. It's natural development. A player of 22 isn't going to be as good as he will be at 28, when he reaches his peak.

We're actually a very good team. We're not top because we're lucky, we're there on merit. They have a fantastic team spirit and work really hard for each other and next season will be no different. We will still have frightening pace and the way we play will still cause tesms all kinds of problems.

Chelsea, Liverpool and United to do a lot of work on their squads and then those players have to gel and there is no guarantee that will even happen. Just because more money will be spent it doesn't buy success. These clubs still need to create a "team" and we already have that.

Trying to compete in Europe too will take it's toll Arro, it won't be as straightforward as just signing players and it will all go seamlessly.
