It's just the latest argument from Wenger apologists - Who is available who could replace him?

Similar to the 'who is available' striker argument.

I'd gladly take someone like Simeone next season.

Everyone says his style is boring - but our current style is much much worse.

Anybody would be better than Wenger.

Do many people actually want him fired on the spot though?

I've only really noticed comments from fans asking for him to walk or get sacked at the end of the season.

Talking about the end of the season, there's another big question along with the who, which is the how long.

How long does a manager who needs to get to grips with the new club (and possibly the league) get before people ask for his head in a league that's going to feature not only some really strong squads, but also top managerial talents such as Klopp, Guardiola and, possibly, Conte, Mourinho, to name but a few.

Wenger isn't good enough but this is extreme, would you rather have Remi Garde or David Moyes?

"Do many people actually want him fired on the spot though?"

Very few, most who want him gone probably want top 4 secured first or just wait until the summer.

........and OP. If what you wrote was actually the case, we wouldn't be in the dog poo situation we're in at the moment now would we !

Following on from that, if you're going to give time to whoever you appoint, Thomas Tuchel -the guy who's followed in Klopp's foootsteps and worked wonders at Dortmund and had done so at Mainz too- might be one to consider.

If he doesn't want to budge because it's his first season there, then maybe try the guy who's led Mainz's charge back up the table again. That guy at Leverkusen is also highly regarded. Koeman, Cocu or De Boer are also managers who are doing well and come from a playing background with teams who like to play expansively.

Ridiculous to say that there's no one with the credentials to take over, but nobody can guarantee success when you change manager.

I don't think it's Wenger apologists saying that. It's a legitimate question to ask. I want him to leave, but who is available is a worry. Do we trust the board to get the right replacement in? If Dein was here then yes, but could see the current board just going for a cheaper option. Not sure they'd chuck a load of cash to get someone like Simone

But yeah, we're not going with Wenger so need a change

Anyone we get would be a gamble to some degree, but that's half the problem with the club, no-one wants to gamble. We have to risk taking one or two steps back to move three forward instead of sitting here with the same old tired crap where we know exactly what we're gonna get each season.

Wenger is probably one of (if not the) worst manager's in the Premier League given his resources.

Would gladly take Simeone as he would sort out this shower of chit and get them playing.

Like i said before Klopp, Pep, Anchelotti, Jose (looks gone) and Conte are out of the window.

Choices are limited but there are still plenty out there that can motivate players.

This is a good point.

I think the important thing to ask anyone scared of someone coming in and 'failing' - If Leicester/Spurs win the league this season, would you rather have their last 10 years (i.e one season of CL football for the latter, promotion/relegation for Leicester) but a PL: title or our groundhog day, no progression, 3rd/4th, 2nd round of CL with 2 trophies mediocrity?

Wenger does not seem capable of competing for the big prizes anymore - Surely taking a risk with someone with potential is better than accepting mediocrity? Or have we all become shareholders/board members obsessed with CL qualification (for guaranteed 2nd round exit)

Take that as a yes then, let's get Moyes and finish 7th plus not even win cups, or Martinez who's basically Wenger lite. Wenger deserves a lot of criticism but he's not THAT bad, we have the 4th highest wage bill in the league and finish 3rd/4th every season - not saying that's any feat but like I say it's not "one of the worst" in the league.

The most important thing before you set out on a managerial quest imo is to have a clear plan as to what type of football you want to be playing, and stick to that idea even if the manager appointed to do it proves to be the wrong choice and you need to find another one.

If you don't, then you risk entering a vicious cycle where each new manager finds a squad that isn't cut out for the style he wants to implement, tries to make the necessary changes, takes time to get it working and ends up getting fired before he can reap any results. Next manager favours a totally different approach, doesn't have the staff, tries to change things, isn't given the times, gets sacked...

That's gonna be tough as the board haven't got a clue about football.

11 League titles, 10 FA Cups, 10 League Cups and 1 UEFA Cup.

Plus, he gets on quite well with the tea ladies.

I think the most worrying thing about when Wenger does go, whenever that may be, is who is appointing his successor.

I think he himself said he will not really have an input, just focus on ensuring he leaves the squad in the best state as possible (a task which as it stands he's failed miserably at) - so then who? Gazidis? Josh or Stan Kroenke?

There's not a single other person in the club who really knows football above Wenger

Wenger will still be manager next season I predict.

We surely need 2 or 3 people to replace Wenger. He is more than a coach
