The Lamela for Mason Change

Said on the match thread it felt like trying to settle for 2-1.

Suprised as away to city ok....he went positive and for the win.

Home vs 10 men.....he makes that change.....

Chronic on the money mate

Lamela was superb today but was at risk of a red. Most of the others were poor and I've let my feelings about walker be known manier occasion

I knew your article about Leicester bottling it was just asking for trouble.

We bottled it today, and I really do hope this isn't the start of an even bigger bottle job that we as Spurs fans are so accustomed to.

And on top of brainfart moments....a pro footballer shldnt be that poor that consistantly at crossing.

I have noticed when ever we sub off Lamela we come under pressure straight after, he does a lot of vital closing down, maybe just coincidence

Spot on

Trying to hold onto a 2-1 lead against 10 men with 23 mins to go is ludicrous. A like-for-like change was the order of the day there, so it had to be Son or Chadli as they'd look to make runs beyond their defence and away from what would have surely been an emptying midfield.

At that stage we had them on the ropes, spend the next 10-15 mins trying to get the 3rd, then bring on Mason for either Alli or Dembele for the final 10 or so mins to see it out.

It's done now (game not the season), hope Poch learns from that in future.

Wasn't Lamela in danger of getting sent off though? It seemed like a reasonable change at the time. It shouldn't have contributed to the bottlejob that we then proceeded to make.

If that's our version of shutting up shop then I can only say we need to work on it. The thinking to do it may have been the plan but the execution of it was awful. It was as open a game from the first minute to the last despite what the score was at any time.

Be honest. How many of you have questioned getting top four now even if it was just fleeting?

1 out 6....fleetingly I guess.

Next 2 massive....drop points in those....and panic will set in with both fans and players.

You have basically said the same as I in other words - bottled the chance today but still very happy with the season overall. Cheers for agreeing

Finally, Kyle Walker… i cannot believe there are still spurs fans who prefer this guy to Trippier

Cos Trippier was so outstanding on Wednesday against West Ham

trippier doesn't make a brain fart a game and has much better delivery.

if you still prefer walker then one can only sigh at you really.

Yes I noticed the amount of chances he set up at West Ham when he was not letting crosses come in from his side of the pitch time and time again

Tragic article.

You've bottled this title run Chronic. In very poor form currently.

Did you not think when you were typing it "Hang on, this might come back to bite me?"?

Remember all the "mind the gap" crap a few years ago that came back to bite us badly?

Not to mention LLM's boasts that we'd beat West Ham and Arsenal easily

Think he's done his usual runner when one of his claims go horribly wrong.

I don't think its in Pochettino's mental playbook to "park the bus". Especially when the other side is down to 10 men.
As Harry Kane said later, "we should have gone for a third and a fourth goal."

I've got no idea what bringing on a CM for Lamela was trying to achieve other than shutting up shop.

When they brought Giroud on for Elneny it meant that Ramsey was tasked with the job of holding, which Arsenal fans will tell you he's useless at. By not having someone playing behind Kane at that point meant that we didn't test out how disciplined and smart he would be; if Eriksen got in behind Ramsay and drifted wide, would Ramsay see him and follow him, or just stay where he was and leave him untracked?

Instead bringing Mason on meant that he never had to worry about what was going on behind him, making a job that he's not particularly good at far easier than it could have been.

Really poor tactics there from Poch

Lamela had to go off before he was sent off.
So... Trippier or Chadli instead of Mason??
Is that your choice?
