The blame for where we are today is the result of many factors, some of which we probably have no knowledge of as yet and may never so Jose is not solely to blame but neither is he blameless.

Lack of signings in the summer does not excuse him, for all the signings made and money spent, all of our direct rivals from last year have fallen away from tagged levels of recent years and as current champions we only needed to maintain last season form to do better than we have.

Jose has left us in a mess just as he did previously and really can it be considered blameless. That does not detract from what he has achieved in the past, it is simply a fact.

Bertrand is very average, for one thing. If you're going to criticise Jose, fair enough but your rant would not have been affected one iota than him remaining a Chelsea player, think about that. "Costa done, Hazard done" really? Jose lost the dressing room and wasn't getting the best out of them. Since he's gone, Costa has been the best striker in the league, not just in terms of performance level but statistically so too. But yeah, he's done. Hazard has been rubbish, but he's a guy whose attitude sucks and wants out of England, regardless of manager. We (United) had the same unacceptable situation with Di Maria. Completely unprofessional from the player and he just wants out, regardless of the manager.

And who on God's green Earth ever thought Oscar was the best number 10 in the world?!

I do agree that his replacements and signings have been poor though. Then again, Jose was pretty outspoken in saying the club weren't signing the guys he wanted

Merry Costa and Hazard will leave that's what I meant after all the shambles. Bertrand is above average especially for us, lb position has been left exposed for long time now.

Jose thought Oscar is best and Laurent Blanc can do wonders with quality signings so I dont want to blow the trumpet that Jose is the best manager and all the mistakes were done by club.

He is gone and have a bet if he joins United then after 2 years he will be gone. And then you will have a proper idea

Dave has been very good at LB - but it's not his normal position and he's wasted there to accommodate a woefully out of form Ivanovic at RB.

Don't be a muppet Ronny

The people who were relieved that Jose departed the club don't just blame him we blamed the players too. The fact remains that he still kept playing the dross who were hiding on the pitch and making us look a shambles!

There was no reason for him to keep picking the players who were hiding on the pitch was there? Did he think about the fans when he kept playing with the same players who were letting us down?

I rest my case

Just Another

If we do appoint Jose, I know it will be short term and is likely to end in tears. Tbh I just hope that he gets us moving in the right direction and restores some sort of fear factor to playing United. Because right now, only Villa wouldn't fancy their chances against us (we've already lost at home to Norwich and failed to beat Newcastle over two meetings).

When he inevitably falls out with all and sundry, I just hope when the dust had settled he leaves us with a stronger squad than we have now. For all he has a bad reputation in that regard, you guys were a penalty kick away from beating us in the CL final with the squad he left (sorry for mentioning that) and Real were European champions within a year of his exit. So it's not a given that he'll leave a trail of rubble in his wake. Far from it

Ronny,, the team we are today is an insult to all those who have played in previous sides assembled in Abramovich era tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But this isn't Joses team, he brought in Costa and Fabregas and got Matic back.. So we can't blame Jose for everything and unfortunately a lot of the people on here do and it's pathetic.

What a sharticle! I hate it when people blow the "true fans" trumpet. They are idiots who are afraid to question the authorities. Jose brought us short term successess but left us in a mess. We could suffer for a few years due to his lack of vision.

Oh and I think Roman's investment took us to the next level. If Jose didn't exist he could have hired an equally talented manager. .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
An equally talented manager... You sir are a moron who is grasping at straws as another poster put it!

Also, left us in a mess? This team is a mess but about 10% max is Joses fault and that's being way past the "being fair" point.

We're in a mess because the off the field decisions are making it a mess, the transfers have been diabolical and then the team is now filled with players who have forgotten how to play football as a team, there's 2-3 games going on between them...

Plainly stated, Jose was frequently successful as a manager, but his ego eventually would always get in the way and take him down.
