No Wooton, and I agree with that change at RB, but where was Berardi when Bellusci gambles and goes to the wrong side of the attacker who then leaves him behind?
my weekends have been pleasant again. also my hometeam montreal off to a 2-0-0 start without drogba.
2-0-0
Is the scoring different in soccer?
Do 3 teams play at once?!
Don't you guys know anything about Canadian rules soccer?
Of course they don't play 3 teams at once.
They play 3 sessions of 60 minutes each so each team has played the other two. Quite simple really, in the example given the other two teams failed to score in their 2 sessions (or poutines, as they call them)
As you might guess, when a Canadian says they are going for a 'double double' they mean one of these double sided soccer matches
Amazed no one else knew all this
So insular the Brits
I totally agree about Wootton a liability at best
Leeds62,
given your extensive footballing brain and all out knowledge of the game, can you tell me how many games Scott Wootton let us down in defensively prior to the Watford game?
I already know the answer, but i'm interested in whether you know what you are talking about or not
I wouldn't really put it down to change at right back, although that's definitely helped. Looking at the highlights, Berardi has a had a couple dodgy moments too, which is understandable as he's just back from injury.
I'd put it more down to a proper formation, not leaving one striker alone by himself, with 19 year old full backs on the wing. Good spirit from the players to amend for that defeat. Antenucci and Mowatt, among others, finding form. And a little bit of luck.
I'm not Wootton's biggest fan, but we can't lay this at his feet. Best nailed it. It's a combination of everything.
And I bet we're all glad for the luck, formations, round pegs in round holes and the like. At least the season's end is worth watching.
Too easy to blame Wootton and totally wrong.
Anyone watching the lad could see he was putting in a shift for the team - it's just that where we played him wasn't his best position - by any stretch. Don't think he particularly let us down, until a couple of games where for sure some mistakes cost us.
Being played of position - and eventually being caught out - visibly played with his confidence. up to that point he was good - if not spectacular.
not saying Wooton is 100% to blame...but I would be very very worried if he started at CB over any of the 3 CB's we currently use.
100% right VOF,
Nobody is denying he should be in the side at the moment, but lumping the blame on him is wrong given he never let us down until the day at Watford.
What about the penalty against Donny and the sloppy defending ALL season. Wootton should be sold in summer as we need better centre backs than the current ones and we have Coyle as back up at RB. Surplus
Shaun, ask any other team in the country and thay'll all say they need better, even if they've got the best!..
This club isn't going to get the best because it hasn't got what they want, and even if it had, it hasn't got the right master to make it work!..
Wootton, any player playing out of position is there for the taking, I mean, any player playing against them is tought how to work that player, and with the pace most teams have in this league, most of ours would struggle!..
Out of position player's are put there by someone, so surely when it don't work they should take the blame!..
What about the penalty against Donny and the sloppy defending ALL season. Wootton should be sold in summer as we need better centre backs
-----------------------------------------------
But that's the point - he's not been played at centre back - the guys been filling in at right back ..... no wonder he's made errors.
Ask John Terry to play left back against a fast winger and he'd not be as effective. Ask most CBs to fill in at a R or LB and they'd similarly struggle ........
It's credit to the guy that he's made as few "errors" as he has .................
Funny how a lot of you can "forgive" Wootton for making a few errors but crucify Bullusci when he makes one.
^ Hasn't the whole board agreed that Bellusci is probably our best player currently??
Players get criticised when they deserve it, Wootton pre Watford didn't deserve it. Bellusci at times, did deserve it, same as Wootton deserved it more recently.
Phil Hay said as much about Bellusci recently, to
the effect that not matter what he does now (including being solid game in game out), a section of Leeds fans will never give him credit. Shame.

Ivanovic was moved from CB to RB and they won the league with the meanest defence conceding the fewest goals.
Obviously a 1-off i understand.
But he isnt good enough at CB to get in front of the 3 we usually play...I watched him when he was loaned to Rotherham and played CB...equally as unconvincing in his preferred position.
The reason some fans don't credit Bellusci, and the rest of the Italians and doukara when they play well is because they refused to play for the club last season. Personally, I've let that go as a bad day for our club and we should move on. But I completely understand why some will never warm to those guys despite good performances
They are all pieces in Cellino's plan, he tell's them what to do and they do it!..
Redder's had no chance when that happened, but were we not safe before that happened?..
Its a lot like the manacoaches repeating everything the last one said, they have to know their places!..
