If Wenger and Arsenal beat PSV on pens after a 0-0 agg score he would be crucified, but when Simeone does it he's praised to high heaven

He is a negative coach, plays football the wrong way. Don't want him anywhere near the club

He's not negative just not naive. Arsenal could do with someone who sets out a team that is difficult to beat cos it's damn easy to beat Arsenal at the moment.

His football is effective not the rubbish we play these days that has people like Gomes even laughing at us

He sets Atletico up so he can compete with Barca and Real - which they have done.

Whether he could adapt a little to Arsenal would be the question.

But don't see him coming anyway.

I actually don't think there is anyone that's proven in the EPL out their better than Wenger?

Ranieri?
De Boer maybe but that's a risk.

Not insurmountable, but he does not speak a word of English and I have read has no desire to do so.

That could be an issue.

He wont be asked to come to Arsenal anyway as AW will be here next season and we will all want the next flavour of the season then.

Its not an issue for a year or two anyway (possibly longer)

Absolutely not! As a la liga fan I find Atleti totally unwatchable. Even with the attacking talent he has he still employs terrible negative crap even against the weakest teams in the league. Cannot imagine having to watch that nonsense every week.

This would actually make sense if he sets up negatively only against Madrid and Barca but it's the same crap evwn against Granada and the Getafes.

At least get his name right if you're going to dedicate a long article extolling his virtues

You cannot build a squad for 4 games, and a different one for the rest!!

And they tend to beat the Granadas and Getafes by a clear margin.

Exactly, DJ.

Style of football is all well and good to criticise when you are a neutral but just ask Athleti fans how they feel about him - they'll be absolutely devastated when he goes

They actually don't.

He's the Argentine Tony Pulis. Inherited a relatively poor squad and made them punch above their weight. Years later and even after spending significant amounts of money on the squad he still chooses to employ negative football while keeping attacking talent that he has paid top dollar for on the bench in favor of 4 holding midfielders every game ffs. Would absolutely hate having that nonsense at Arsenal.

Hiring a negative coach is not the only way to get out of our predicament.

posted on 16/3/16

So you'd want him to build a better attacking side than Barca & Real Madrid despite a squad that cost about a 5th of either of theirs?

Yes because that is exactly what I meant in my post.

Assuming that was a response to the claim they beat the Granadas and Getafes by a clear margin:

AM 2-0 Getafe
Granada 0-2 AM
AM 3-0 Deportive
AM 3-0 Sociedad
Las Palmas 0-3 AM
Valencia 1-3 AM

I don't know what you mean, then.

You want them to play attacking football but accept they won't win the league by doing it?

He's the Argentine Tony Pulis.

Don't remember TP winning the title. Or getting to the CL final.

Simeone is no Guardiola in set-up, but this is a ridiculous exaggeration. Atletico play far more progressive footy than they're given credit for. They are at their most negative against the big 2 and occasionally ultra-attacking teams like Celta. No Premier League team would dominate Athletico. 2 seasons ago, they battered Chelsea home and away.

Hugo Sanchez, Garate, Vieri, Hasselbaink, Torres, Aguero, Forlan, Falcao, Costa........

We could at least have a go at whoever picks their strikers. They always seem to get their timing right. Just look at Griezmann.

What bemuses me when so many Arsenal fans turn their noses up at Simeone is the fact since the departure of Cesc, we've played some really tepid footy which gets taken apart at the highest level. How on earth can we get snobby about Simeone?
