Drinkwater named in England squad

That is another point - he's picked Kane and Sturridge, and won't play 2 up front. That does suggest that Vardy could be started on the wing again.

Unless Hodgson wants a right wing back, I don't think he should be looking at Albrighton. In fact, I'll be controversial among my fellow Leicester fans here and say that I'm not convinced about picking Vardy on current form...

On current form? How many chances has he missed in the last few gsmes? That'd be none then because he's not had any. Still claimed another assist and still does more than Kane when he doesn't score.

Teams are parking the bus now and giving him no space, he's not missing chances, his goals have dried up because he's not getting chances mate 😉👍

Dunge. Don't understand your reference to Newcastle as Sky picked him as man of the match!

Drinkwater wasn't very good against Newcastle, how he was picked MoTM I don't know. Kante was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch.

He's on a final warning mate and he's gone if he continues 👍

Bowstring - Sky were wrong. Check the Foxestalk ratings if you don't believe me! (Although they think Okazaki was a lot better than I did.)

Arro - I agree that the depth of opposition defending has cut off his traditional opportunities; however, he hasn't been able to adapt to get more/different chances for himself. He's still being a pest, but that's not enough for England.

He doesn't have to score to be influential though, this is the difference between him and any other striker. He's always a threat and defenders can't switch off because he's too quick to catch.

Take Kane's goals away and he's not a threat, he doesn't win the ball back and cause defenders to make mistakes and his lack of pace means he's a lot easier to mark. You can be ten yards from Kane and catch him but even a yard off Vardy is too much.

He's lumber some and doesn't chip in with many assists and he needs a hatful of chances to score, or at least has done in the games ive seen recently, he should have have four or five before he scored against Villa.

Vardy is a constant danger and will always create more problems than anyone else.

Apparently Drinkwater wasn't happy after the match and appeared to realize he'd had a bad un which is good to know.

arro, you are completely wrong. Kane works his socks off, is great at holding the ball up & as for being lumber-some, he is difficult to knock off the ball because he is adept at shielding it. He has shown over the past two seasons that he is more than just a goal scorer.

Vardy is totally different, his main strength is his pace and if he doesn't get the room to get in behind the defence is not a threat.

He has done really well this season although currently going through a lean spell.

Kane & Vardy are chalk and cheese & the only similarity is the number of goals they score

Yeah he seemed a bit awkward receiving it but still he maybe picked it up there for games when he should have won it ha ha

Hi Arro, how you doing?

Kane is completely different gravy to the corpse that is Vardy.

There is no argument arro, what I have stated is fact. You do not like it at all if anyone contradicts you, very sad really

There is an argument, Greaves - We've established that teams are defending deeper against us to negate Vardy's effect, but this opens up space in front of them for players like Mahrez. It's a stick or twist argument.

The Dungeon Master

Spurs were nowhere near full strength tonight. Walker, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Dembele and Kane were missing from the team, that is half the team. Spurs fielded a reserve team in both legs. First team being saved for the Prem.

Sandy, I understand Arro's filtered you so you can't see my reply to Greaves in Arro's article, so here's the copy & paste:

In regard to your team tonight, Dembele and Eriksson were injured and so couldn't play anyway (unless that was a lie?), and I understand you've rotated your full backs all year? In which case, Kane was the only option you /chose/ to rest?

posted on 17/3/16

Dembele and Eriksen were rested along with Walker and Kane, Verts is back in training and will be back next week. Just saying that is half the full strength side missing. Trippier and Davies are not first picks and will in all probability not feature again this season, except perhaps of the subs bench. Poch basically chucked the Europa to save most of his best players for the Prem games.

posted on 17/3/16

So Pochettino's saying Dembele and Eriksen are injured because... why? So the fans don't get on his back again? Saying that you deliberately didn't put out your strongest team due to injuries is akin to saying you've been resting Vertongen for the last month.

As for Trippier and Davies not being first choices, your selections this season suggest that they were for this match and, even if Walker and Rose are considered to be your first choice partnership, this pair were the best choice for this game due to freshness. (You may not think that way, but your manager clearly does.) I still maintain that the side you put out tonight was the strongest you could to face Dortmund, with the exception of Kane.
