Whats Mark Robins been up to lately? Didnt he get sacked recently....
Robbie Neilson works under a Director of Football in Craig Levein who, if the rumours are correct, very much runs the show. All the decisions, including transfers and apparently selection, goes through Levein.
I'd be stunned if Warburton left Rangers for Forest.
Stubbs would be your best 'Scottish' target. Although his Hibs team are third in what is meant to be a two horse race. He has done well in both cups though - a loss in a final and potentially (although hopefully not) a second final.
Craig Levein's been sacked out of more jobs than Steve Evans has had hot dinners, I've no doubt that serial managerial failure is trying to claim some of the credit for Nielson's success. As for Warburton, he's reportedly on £200k at Rangers which is about a quarter of the average Forest manager wedge. Plus RFC havent got two pennies to rub together so I would consider him or Nielson as very attainable if we went for them in the summer.
Craig Levein knows Scottish football inside out - he had a terrific spell at Dundee United - and I personally believe is a terrific DoF. He's laid the foundations for Hearts revival and he's guiding Neilson through his first job. I think he'd be a massive risk for Forest and I don't think he'd be a success.
I have no idea how much Warburton is on at Rangers, but despite how much I may loathe them they are a massive club who he can guide back to the top in Scottish football before moving back down to English football - at a higher level than Forest. As I say, I'd be stunned if he moved to you.
Well I cant see anyone in England being in anyway interested in Levein ever again, same cant be said of Nielson so that tells its own story. Lets face it Scottish football is in the toilet but its a decent managerial training ground for championship clubs as proved with Norwich hiring Alex Neil who got them up from the championship. If any SPL manager has aspirations of managing in the Premiership then the most obvious route is via the Championship so on that basis ALL SPL managers are very much attainable. Dont get me wrong I keep an interest in Scottish football buts its stock has never been lower whilst the money in England has never been higher, the days of the old Firm clubs being a bigger draw than Championship clubs is well and truly over as was evident from Neil Lennon's jumping ship at Celtic and his then pitiful demise at Bolton.
I'm aware that Levein isn't ever going to be a wanted man - what I'm trying to say is that Neilson is not necessarily the manager you think he is.
I'm also very much aware of the state of Scottish football at the moment. Unfortunately football is driven by money now and all the smaller leagues are being destroyed by the money leagues.
Rangers and Celtic are still massive clubs though and certainly Celtic (and no doubt in the next few years Rangers) can still offer a potential gateway to the Champions League. Forest can't.
As for Lennon, he had very good reasons to move on from Scottish football that were not football related. I never rated him particularly highly as a coach anyway but Bolton was a terrible choice by him for his next club.

Working on that theory then the top clubs in countries like Romania, Cyprus, Lithuania are greater draws for managers than the championship
Anyway, best of luck with the manager search. Slightly regretting joining this thread as I often forget Championship team supporters are pretty much universally arrogant kants who forget their teams only survive because of the money handed down to them by the big teams from their country, and without them they would be meaningless.
Well Ivan to be fair if you think Celtic and Rangers, who these days get nowhere near the group stages of CL football, are bigger draws than Championship clubs whilst operating on budgets of less than a third of their money, then to be fair you're living in the past and are gonna get some stick for saying so.
Also I think you've got fairly rose tinted glasses as far as Craig Levein is concerned and you're about the only person I've ever heard say anything positive about him. On the plus side I'd say congrats to Dundee Utd on their youth development in recent years, sad though that they picked up for pennies then by Celtic who seem to have forgotten how to develop their own players.
I'm not saying Levein is a great coach - he's not. He is however a great DoF, who put in the structures at Dundee United that allowed our youth development to grow (structures that have since been destroyed by Jackie McNamara and have contributed to us being bottom of the league) and has put in similar structures at Hearts that have seen them thrive. It would be wrong to put the (relative) success at Hearts down to Neilson alone. My point was that Neilson's contribution has been rumoured to be minimal beyond the coaching of tactics.
Rangers and Celtic are still great clubs and Celtic certainly are very much positioning themselves to be in the shake up for what I believe will be the inevitable formation of a European Superleague. When that happens, I fear for English football.
I would live to see someone like Warburton at the CG. Seems to have a sensible head on his shoulders so would be crazy to work for someone trigger happy like Fawaz. Agree he would be looking for a Prem job in the near future if he can guide Rangers back into the SPL.
All good potential managers none of whom would tolerate our stupid owner.
I don't think that even NLN is likely to take the job now. He might well have wanted the job before D.F got it. But not now, I think that getting sacked by the Blades has left it's scars and he doesn't want a string of arbitrary sacking stung out across his C.V.
Our owner really is a prize turnip, in fact a turnip is probably clever than he is.

Sore losers time to pay up Fawaz......http://m.derbytelegraph.co.uk/Rams-ask-Forest-pay-fans-smash-iPro-Stadium/story-28980044-detail/story.html
Hard up Derby can't afford insurance then Wassa?
I remember when your lot vandalised Fawaz's car, he didn't ask you to pay for repairs did he?
A post on the Derbycounty-mad.co.uk website condemned the vandalism. The post, on the supporters website, said: "It is a sad day when disgruntled away fans have to resort to serious damage to the stadium to vent their frustration. This, however, is what happened following the Rams 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest. Disgusting photographs of the ceiling brought to the ground by the Forest hooligans have emerged on social media, with Derby County fans rightly calling for compensation for the damage from Nottingham Forest.

it was me
pity the Derby lot didn't have the same attitude towards their own contingent who smashed up our owners car
Len - do you not see Nigel as a realistic option. Or do you see that as another Pearce type move that should be avoided?
Get Nigel Clough in, it seems almost inevitable that he'll come to Forest one day so let's get it over with.
Nigel would be OK with someone alongside him - BUT not bloody Metgod or Crosby....but someone like Brian Laws
Is that the same WAGBO that bragged about smashing a seat at the City Ground a few years back?
I really don't rate NLN as a manager but I can see it happening, in my opinion he's no better than DF and if any fans want him but have a gripe about boring football with little/no progress then you're probably a bit misguided. Fact is he was heavily linked with us before DF turned form around and has a clause in his Burton contract that further cements it.
Warburton is no way a realistic prospect. It doesn't matter what money he is on. Rangers is a way better prospect at the moment that's for Sure.
We are no even sure we will emerge from FFP in the summer. And even if we do, we may still not be able to spend if it turns out the total losses get backdated.
So what manager would want the job? Maybe if we are out of FFP and we can spend money again we may be slightly more attractive. Otherwise we are a club with an average squad but with fans and owners who demand promotion! Recipe for disaster!
I have a feeling that Ramdini will end up wanting a Forest season ticket
