Not one of the four started in Germany.........soooooo
What bitterness? Chances are we'll get spanked in Germany like Spurs were.
None of the four started in Dortmund, so I really fail to see what relevance it is.
Dortmund are a top side. They are no MK Dons or Sheffield Wednesday to be fair, but still....
Yeah I know, I was taking the piiiiiss with the comment but it's still a fair prediction that we'll get battered in Germany, Spurs or no Spurs players.

You said you were hoping to see the 'Spurs Style' The Spurs style that got hammered by Germanys second best.
No one has called for the Arsenal style (despite us beating Germanys best 2-0) or a Manchester United style
We should hope for a style to beat the world champions
England have been pretty reminiscent of Arsenal in the CL in style for a good few years.....knocked out by the first good side we face
But anyway.....
Spurs style:
Being largely an English side, but still controlling games unlike a typical English side.
Emphasis on team over individual, built with vibrant young players.
England could do worse than to replicate that . The sum beimg bigger than the constituent parts

Easier said than done though, Ledley.
Spurs have won a CL ko game more recently than you....thats the point. We havent even been in it for 5yrs
Shocker.
And the relevance of that to England playing a "Spurs Style" that saw them hammered 5-1 against a German side?

You have to try though, if we want to get out of the cycle of being the Sunderland of the international game
England should have based themselves on United in years gone by but never did it convincingly.
Not saying we are at that level, but we tend to dominate games and keep possesion well - things England traditionally struggle with - and that is with three English lads through the middle. Plus the fullbacks who are vital to us.
The only position England couldnt fill as well is Alderweireld in my opinion, although I think any two of Cahill, Stones and Smalling would do a good job at centre back
No natural Dembele but others who do a similar job with a differimg style. Wilshere the standout. You could even put Alli there.
Elsewhere there are as good, if not better players than 2 of Son, Eriksen and Lamela. Lots of wide options

Well the Spurs style is always going to suffer without five of its main components....the English players in the England squad.
Perhaps if they started in Germany you would have had a point to begin with.
Or perhaps if Mason and Carroll were starting in centre mid together tonight even.
Sooooo....
I don't think Spurs' style of football is going to work at international tournaments, as I mentioned before.
People always say a coach should just replicate a club side but in reality it doesn't usually work.
Even Spain, with their Barca core, didn't play football like Barcelona did as they were missing certain foreign players that were key to it and the manager's coaching methods are different.
You can't just expect Hodgson, who has been coaching for over 30 years, to just change his methods and try and copy Pochettino's because Spurs are having a good season.
That Hodgson is still England manager is another debate.
Its not because its Spurs either....
If Arsenal had an young English keeper, two centre backs, and a pair in midfield i'd make the same argument.

Firstly you are talking about a style - it shouldn't be reliant on less than half the team. It also didn't work at WHL, when Dortmund were in cruise control
Secondly more than half of the team will not play tonight - so to lay hopes on 4 players bringing a teams style successfully to another team is not a good idea.
That it failed so dismally with Spurs players shows it ain't a good idea with players from other teams...
I don't think there is a lot to choose in the style of play of a lot of sides per se - most play a variant of 4231
What you can do is put players in who will influence how this is played out.
Having Dier in there will allow the fullbacks to push on with less fear.
Rose will benefit from this, it will help him play hos natural game.
Lallana is in front of him, and he knows what Rose will do as Luke Shaw would have been coached to do the same under Poch at Southampton.
Clyne is also an ex Poch alumni on the other side.
Knitting it together are the Spurs attacking pair of Kane and Alli.
6 of the 10 oufield players have played under Pochettino. It should have an effect
Proof of the pudding is in the eating.....we will see tobight
