I've seen three Leicester players being suggested for England during this season - Drinkwater, Vardy and Marc Albrighton. Of those, I would not take Albrighton, I'd take Vardy as an option but not a starter, and I'd give serious consideration to starting Drinkwater: If Wilshere isn't fit (which is always likely) then Drinkwater's the one who could take his place - as long as he's able to step up to international level.
Vardy had it right an interview when he described Drinkwater's playing style as "the puppermaster" - the one who will initiate attacks and pick passes. He's also improved the defensive side of his game, although obviously having N'Golo Kante running around next to him this season has helped him with that as well.
However, while I think there is a question mark over the ability of many Leicester players to play high quality possession-based football, Drinkwater is one of the ones who is most capable - particularly this season now that he's got to grips with the speed of the Premier League more and doesn't get caught in possession like he used to do. He will go box-to-box, can play on the break of in possession and has good vision on the ball.
The weakest part of his game is shooting - he won't score you many goals and he doesn't have a lot of power in his shots compared to others. However, if Roy Hodgson intends to play a 4-2-3-1 then Drinkwater could fit in very well in the 2, probably next to Henderson.
It'll be interesting to see him in one of the coming friendlies to see how he copes with the international stage.

Incidentally, regarding Spurs players I think Walker's earned another shot over Clyne through performances this season, although I'm not quite so convinced about Rose. Dier might have arrived a little too late and a more experienced/understood had like a Henderson or a Milner would probably start ahead of him, to much muttering all round.
Alli should start behind Kane, which might be a bit harsh on Barkley but I'd rather go with a combination who have played well together this season and have Barkley as an impact sub.
Rooney shouldn't start.

Drinkwater surely has to be in ahead of Delph?!!
Has looked a very good footballer when I've seen him this season, and he's obviously playing regularly. Was surprised by his passing ability TBH.
-----------------------------------
As I said, haven't seen enough of him. Delph has been injured a couple times this season so he'll probably miss out but he's very athletic, I've liked what I've seen in terms of winning the ball back and setting up counter attacks.

Thank you for your input Dungeon Master, sounds like Drinkwater would be a useful addition to the squad, based on fitness and form he deserves a place.
Rose is very much a marmite player for Spurs, I personally rate him highly, simply because I like attacking fullbacks (even though his crossing isn't the best) who stretch the game, but also have enough stamina to get back and put in solid tackles.
Dier would allow England (as he does Spurs) to play a more attacking style of football because he's always there to cover players that are out of position.
He's a must start for me.
Granted I haven't seen your full backs as much as you have, but the thing that always pops up against Rose is his quality in the final third?
I think it's tight at left back between several players, but I'd be inclined to give Cresswell a shot. He's impressed me whenever I've seen him. I was always a fan of Baines, but I wouldn't include any Everton defender in the England starting 11 after the season they've had.
henderson in a PL team let alone the england side is a cruel joke

Dier and Drinkwater could be an interesting combination as a holding pair. I just tend to think Henderson because of experience, energy and the fact he's more of a known quantity. I wouldn't argue with Dier getting a chance though.

Rose has had a better season than Walker
--------------------------
I really like Danny, probably because we're very similar in ways; both short, wingers that turned into fullbacks, although he has the better ass...
There's a few player that will be unlucky to miss out, Cresswell is one of them, I'd have him ahead of Baines and Gibbs personally. (Based on form)

Danny is like your banker in a treble, he will not let you down and he will provide the platform for better things.

How good is Danny Drinkwater?
he is good as he plays for the team currently top of the league. No one knows how good he will be for England hence his call up so you can judge for yourself. John Barnes for example was a cracking players but never really playing for England. The England set up may or may not suit him, but one thing is for sure he has good ability but no Gazza,
Drinky 🍸 can play any role on the pitch better than anyone. Its what Drinky 🍸 does.
Drinky is a quality player and one of the best midfielders in the league without a doubt.
He's box to box, very good defensively, controls games and his passing is superb. I likened his passing to Hoddle earlier in the season and was laughed at but I think people are now beginning to see it. He's lke a quarter back for us with Vardy as his wide reciever.
He shouldn't just be on the plane, he should start. Let's not forget where he came from either, United have the best academy in the country and he has learnt his trade at the best club possible.
I'm concerned about our defence, it looks shocking and we'll struggle with whichever combination Woy chooses. They're all poor in comparison to previous England defenders, truly awful.
Our midfield and attack look good but we won't be successful while they're our choice of defenders. It's s pity Wes plays for Jamaica because him and Smalling would be a great pairing. Oh well.
My England team
Joe Hart
Clyne. Smalling Cahill. Baines
Dier. Drinky
Ali or Barkley
Vardy. Kane. Sterling
