Forgot one of the greatest moments ever, Oldboy when he finds out about his daughter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Old Boy is a incredible movie. That scene is powerful, but my personal favourite in that movie was when he fights the dudes with a hammer.

The whole film is fantastic, the octopus scene springs to mind too.
The twist at the end though I just didn't see coming.
His face at 1m10secs in this is just class

Oldboy twist is unexpected becuase you dont think it's going to be one of those type of films. You accept the simple premise from the off and you get into abit of a comfortable situation because you feel the film will continue in playing out it's somewhat B-movie tropes.
Cruise and Nicholson in 'A few good men'
'Col. Jessep: You want answers?
Kaffee: I think I'm entitled to.
Col. Jessep: *You want answers?*
Kaffee: *I want the truth!*
Col. Jessep: *You can't handle the truth!*
[pauses]
Col. Jessep: Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to'
Genius.... Nicholson that is Cruise is not a great actor but gets away with it!

Yeah it does disguise its self as a somewhat cliche revenge flick.
Coach Carter and that speech
Timo Cruz: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others
I've loved this passage for a long time and then saw it in a very good film IMO, sealed it for me!
The scene in the Shining when Jack is typing away and the wife walks over and goes "Hey hon" Nicholsen's face is just amazing and then he freaks out at her, banging on the type writer and all.
I love that movie.

yeah that's great and it leads into him meeting Grady in the bathroom. That scene at the bar is the turning point into his psychotic breakdown really.
I love when Grady says "I corrected them" brilliant line.
Sitting on the bog in work having a think about this now. Tons of Kubrick and Coen Brothers scenes running through my head, but it's this one that puts a smile on my face every time.

The slow walk in A Clockwork Orange before Alex batters them all is unreal, the face on McDowell just before he strikes out.
Actually speaking of slow walks the scene at the end of The Wild bunch is amazing, when they just walk up to the town and have the huge gun fight. It wasn't originally scripted either Pekinpah decided to do it on the drive to the location that morning and shot it all in one day!

I love the whole Baptism scene in Oh Brother Where Art Thou.
And the scene when they're in the Barn and the brother betrays them is very good.
Also Miller's Crossing, the scene where john turturro is in the woods about to be shot. That whole movie is brilliant.
Speaking of baptism scenes, There Will Be Blood has some great exchanges between Daniel and Eli

it's odd, that is probably my least favourite scene of all time. it is so totally unfunny to me.
whereas my favourite scene is in borat, when he describes how his disabled brother is kept in a cage, while his sister taunts said brother by displaying her genitals and saying "you will never get this, you will never get this, lalalala". Finally the brother breaks free from his cage and he rapes the sister and the whole family has a good laugh about the sheer irony of the whole thing.
allthough i could see how somebody might think that is not funny.
