That's just it - I couldn't read those words without hearing his voice, it was almost as if he was standing there speaking to me in person.
To think I had grave doubts when I heard the news he was coming to City! I'm not too proud to admit it and do agree there must be a statue or something in his honour after this wonderful, unbelievable season. Thank you Claudio - a real gentleman in every sense of the word.

I think Pearson deserves one too and I know a lot of people thought he was nuts but I believe a lot of that was to distract the pressure from our players and he did a fantastic job of reshaping our club, building the team, changing the ethic around the club and then keeping the belief in the players.
A statue of MON, Pearson and Ranieri would be very fitting.
^ If they are to contemplate building a statue commemorating managers past and present then a bust of Matthew Gillies would have to be a part of it.

Before my time but yes I agree 👍
The thing about a statue of Pearson is - he didn't actually win a trophy. I know that sounds harsh because there's no doubt he was the right man at the right time and went about fixing our club but both MON and hopefully Ranieri would have won trophies.
Equally we have since discovered that much of the success behind Pearsons reign at Leicester has been Walsh. Would we have a statue of him as well?
Not meaning to sound harsh but a statue of a guy who had his hands round James McArthurs throat and who insulted the press on regular occasions seems a bit odd. Especially as unlike mon he never won anything
Don't get me wrong I'm hugely grateful he came to our club but I don't think he's statue material.......
I guess I'm looking for major trophies as an achievement TB. A premier league title, league or fa cups. That tends to be what you build statues for especially at a small club like ourselves.
I don't think people tend to rush out and build statues for the league one and championship titles
Fack me are Southampton working on a statue of Nigel Adkins?
I never said anything about a statue, just laughing at your d!ckhead comment.
Still, let's see, Championship title or League Cup?

I'd say winning League 1 and the Championship in the way that he did, breaking records along the way, was quite an achievement. It's not easy to win either of those leagues and being the best over 46 games is better than being the best in a cup run in my opinion.
Yes it is evident that our player recruitment was down to Walsh but it was Pearson that instilled the team ethic into the club. He built the team spirit which has got us to where we are now and turned our club around. Without him Ranieri wouldn't be on the verge of greatness.
I don't care about his antics off the pitch, didn't bother me at the time and doesn't now. I still feel like a lot of that was down to deflecting pressure off the players.
Let's also not forget the best escape from relegation that the PL has ever seen. I'd say he's worthy for his contributions to our club.

I think winning a league is a bigger achievement than winning a cup, too much importance gets placed on a trophy that often entails a handful of games against lower league oppostition. Being the best team over 46 games is a far better achievement.
Didn't Wigan win the FA cup and get relegated? Would a manager who won the cup and got their team relegated be worthy of a statue?!

Was using those teams to illustrate that the league cup is generally considered to be a bigger trophy than winning the second division title.

It's not about which achievement we think is more worthy, it's about what is generally considered in terms of trophy ranking. I would agree that you could make an argument that winning a league is harder to do and a better achievement
But when fans boast about their trophy cabinet, unless they're the size of Swindon they don't tend to go on about the second or third division titles
European cup, premier league title, FA cup and league cup as well as UEFA are considered to be the major honours you can win

There is actually a ranking system that allocates points to clubs based on a combination of league positions and trophies won. This was used by a couple of publications to produce a list of club size (based on attendance, trophies won and league positions).
Let's just say that winning a league cup easily out ranks a second division title. Whether you or I agree with that or not, a second division title is not generally considered as a major honour. A league cup and an a FA cup is.
And that's clearly what I was talking about when comparing Pearson to MON and Ranieri
Yeah I agree with you, that is what fans place as important but I'd disagree with those fans because I think winning a league is far more difficult than winning a cup.
But it wasn't just one league he won two and the Championship winning season we broke all kinds of records along the way, it was very impressive.
He's one of our best ever managers and we could have a statues for Gillies, MON, Pearson and Ranieri for their achievements with our club. They all did a good job but I get what you mean. I guess in terms of real worth Ranieri would be the only one.

Yep I can see the logic in that but unfortunately a second division title isn't considered a major honour and therefore Pearson, unlike MON and potentially Ranieri won't have that in his locker.
That doesn't mean he isn't as good a manager as MON for example (that's subjective) but it's what I clearly meant when I said Pearson hadn't won anything. I obviously meant major honours.

Agreed Arro what Pearson achieved was superb but it's not in the same league as what Ranieri could be about to achieve with more or less the same group of players.
