This year I have read many bollox posts/comments about the so called improvement of Chelsea, Utd, City, Liverpool and even Everton next season. Our young team has nothing to fear from any of them and with a better start (which I fully expect) we will be there or thereabouts again.

Hoody, that's what I'm saying mate... Spurs will add quality in the summer no doubt and retain all our top players. Us being in the CL next season and having the season we have had is a big pull. My point is we have the set up ready with just the odd 1/2 players of quality to add to an already established young side. The likes of you, city , Chelsea and united all have to start again and add 3/4 players to really compete next season. City not so much as I feel they have quality throughout but are being badly managed this season but certainly the other clubs

I don't think Spurs will spend that much myself what with the stadium. Prob shop in the lower leagues again or unknowns in Europe. I also don't think being in the CL means getting wc players automatically.

I'm really not sure LFC have to rip up the side either. We've signed Matip but Sakho and Lovren are looking good. We've a wealth of strikers.

A wide forward and a CM or two and we'll be good to go.

Call me deluded if you like but I think Firmino, Coutinho and Sturridge are good players. Origi looks like being a bonus.

We're scoring goals, tightening up defensively and given a full pre season and hopefully not another nightmare with injuries should mean we win more football games.

If you've got goal scorers, which we have, you have a chance.

Spurs clearly need to make a few quality additions over the summer. The last several transfer windows have been mostly about cutting away the deadwood - when you're getting rid of a half dozen players every year you don't want to bring in a half dozen in their place at the same time. Squad overhaul has to be gradually done over time or it unsettles everyone.

The result of that is that Spurs have ended up getting rid of more players than they've brought in during the last few years, so the squad has got smaller (albeit much higher quality overall). 3 or 4 well scouted additions this year - CB, DM, winger and striker would be ideal - and Spurs' squad will be far better equipped to compete on several fronts.

Hoody, you do mate but the league table dosen't lie mate. Liverpool once again are way behind the top 4 like they are nearly every season. Surely this can't be a coincidence? Bar your title challenging season, Liverpool have been a 7th - 9th place team most years can't you agree? Your looking likely to finish around about 7th once again and you are telling me you don't need much work? Come on mate.

As for the top 3 next season, my assumption would be that it'll be comprised of City, Spurs and Arsenal. Spurs have a good chance of another title tilt if they stay reasonably lucky with injuries and don't phluck about in the transfer window.

Liverpool will improve, but I'm not convinced Klopp is that great a manager. He's also a complete twunt, but that's beside the point. United stand to improve with Mourinho on board and Chelsea can't possibly be as bad again, but I think those three will be fighting it out for 4th.

Very difficult to see Leicester doing anything but nosediving... but having said that, it's been very difficult to see them keeping their form up all season and they continue to prove everyone wrong. So who knows. Added fixture congestion will do them no favours, though. All it takes is for Mahrez or Vardy to get injured and their goals dry up - it's incredible, really, that both have gone the full season injury-free. But all champions need luck, I suppose.

I foresee the top 6 being back to normal next year, with West Ham dropping a bit again. I'd bloody love another ridiculous season where the "big boys" fail miserably again, though. My ideal top 4 next season:

1. Spurs
2. Swansea
3. Southampton
4. Bournemouth

You beauty

Well win our game in hand and we're six points of top four. You may think that's miles but it's actually two losses into wins.

Furthermore LFC were ahead of Spurs until the last day of the season last year. Were Spurs miles off?

It's about strikers and ours are now fit. Keep them fit and we'll win games.

========

And no I don't agree because we've never finished 9th!

And our last two placings are 2nd and 6th.

No I don't agree,

posted on 11/4/16

You finish around about 7th most seasons and always finish way behind the pecking order of the top 4 bar the odd season, those are facts

posted on 11/4/16

Every season Liverpool " threaten" the top 4 and never come anywhere near it. Your title challenging season aside and maybe the other odd season. Spurs have consistently challenged the top 4 for years where as Liverpool haven't. You need a lot more work to that squad than we do mate

Well exactly my point, look how far Liverpool have regressed in such a short period of time. There's you saying how much you herb improved but your last few seasons don't prove that. You have gone from being title challengers to 8th place in the space of 2 years

Well I was actually referring to hardly improved under Klopp.

We're the top scorers in the league in 2016. That's an improvement.

We've lost one game over 90 mins since Feb I think. That's an improvement.

We've reached a cup final. That's an improvement.

We're one fame away from a European semi final. That's an improvement.

We also have games in hand.

People who watch us every week and know their football can see the improvement.

Shandy drinking, red top reading, motd watching know nothings can't.

Don't bother with your reasoned argument and stats top back it up Hoody

posted on 11/4/16

No they're not Don. Sorry.

Unless you're moving the goal posts?

You said 7th - 9th.

This is not true.

In fact in the past 7 years we've finished 2nd as many times as we've finished 7th!

The Southampton game was a sickener being 2-0 as win our game in hand and we'd be 3 points off top four.

I think we'll surprise you next year if you believe that we're that far away.

posted on 11/4/16

Don you're right on the league positions but you're wrong on how bad we are.

We're behind you in terms of team and squad development but we are not miles off a top 4 challenge, we can still challenge for top 4 this year but I don't think we will.

posted on 11/4/16

Hoody, yes I do think your that far away and league don't lie. You have barely mustered a run of wins together all season and your trying to convince me Liverpool have massively improved under Klopp? Give it a rest pal. I understand your optimism but there's optimism then there's got_betterism.... Your currently on the got_betterism stages

posted on 11/4/16

Tottenham - The Everton of London.

Soooo many shadows.

Ah Don come on mate look at the results etc. the improvement is there to see, obviously we've still lots of improvement to make but you can see that this team is in far better shape then it was last year.

posted on 11/4/16

Knee rash, I never said you are really poor as a team... What my argument was initially was Liverpool needs a lot of work this summer where as spurs don't. Hoody then replied saying he dosen't believe you do need a lot of work. My response then was your league position and in consistent results all season prove you do need a lot of work and rebuilding. You might not be miles off but I do think you are a fair way off

posted on 11/4/16

By the way Klopp is a very good manager hoody I'm not denying that. I just think he's got his work cut out this summer, just my opinion

posted on 11/4/16

Don TBF Rodgers was bloody awful and took them miles backwards

Klopp has only been there fr a few months and I think it is a little unfair to judge him on that length of time , if Pool do not really improve by the start of 2017 then we can all have a pp at him

posted on 11/4/16

Squid, not really judging Klopp as such mate. I just think they have a lot of work to do this summer and will need to rebuild more than they think where as spurs pretty much have a solid set up ready with just the odd quality additions to improve us. I would rather be where spurs are right now than Liverpool, that's my point.

Don yep that's a very fair comment
