I thought he said that Vardy dived and it wasn't a penalty?
The bait is loaded, the trap set, will a certain fox come sniffing....
I'm on about his berating of the Referee, which I think was totally uncalled for, and what it does, is just whips us a storm, that get's everyone talking about it/ Before you know it, it'll be the main headlines on the 6pm news and the Referee will be hounded out of the game
It's the constant 'I'm far superior' attitude by the likes of Shearer that really annoys me
The bait is loaded, the trap set, will a certain fox come sniffing....

not if it's the one I'm thinking of - I filtered him because of his constant drivel aimed towards me - I was getting to the point where I thought it was Lineker in disguise
If I was ref. I'd have sent Vardy off for that diabolical dive even if he hadn't already been booked. That was THE most offensive bit of cheating I've seen in a long time.
Top of the league, 7 points clear, 99% guaranteed to win the title, yet he resorts to that, if I was his manager I'd fine him a month's wages too, for costing Leicester 2 points because it was a stroll until he got himself sent off in such a shameful way.
And Vardy's reaction after he was sent off, and the aggression he showed towards the referee, I'd ban him for 3 games, not 1.
I have to say that I thought that Leicester and both Huth and Morgan were employing strong arm tactics that a team at the bottom wouldn't get away with. That is in previous matches, I haven't seen Sundays game.
Whereas teams at the bottom don't seem to get genuine penalty shouts either; Forest on Saturday for example.
Anybody seen the Rev' by the way?
Can you imagine what Cloughie's reaction would have been to Vardy if he'd acted like that under his management
Vardy probably wouldn't have ever worn the shirt again
In fact, come to think about it - Vardy just wouldn't have done it full stop had he been in Clough's team
In an early game I saw, Vardy played the ball past a defender but instead of following the path of the ball directly he went towards the player and over his out stretched leg. He got a penalty for that, to me he made an effort to buy that one as well.
The dive was pretty clear cut so a yellow card was fair enough. In cases where players have clearly engineered contact but got away with it there needs to be some beefing up of retrospective action to try to get rid of it.
The pushing and shoving in the box is far more difficult. If Shearer finds it mind-boggling then he must have a mind that is far too easily boggled. I thought the ref did all he could to warn the Leicester centre-halves - at the time I thought he was telling them that he would give a penalty if they didn't cut it out. They didn't, so he did. You can't have an absolute "zero-tolerance" to these things because then the forwards would continue to foul to their heart's content knowing that the defenders could not retaliate. The ref would not be able to see every foul and a corner would end up being much greater a scoring chance than is actually fair. All a ref can really do is either to turn a completely blind eye to everything or to only give a penalty when it is really blatant or persistent. I thought the decisions were fair enough overall, and Huth and Morgan have got away with a lot over the course of the season. Other than change the law to have something to the effect that attacking players can't enter the penalty area until after a corner is taken, I don't really know what else could realistically be done to combat the wrestling.
I bet you now that Vardy gets away with abusing the referee with no further penalty. What he did was appalling for football, but the FA will want the fairytale to come true because it is publicity gold all around the world, and Vardy is the star of the show.
Or the FA could favour the London club and give Varney a 3 match ban. My hunch in on the latter.
Refs and managers should be given clear directives along the lines of if you do x it's a penalty, if you do y it's a booking before the season. A few games at the start of the season with 10 penalties and finishing 6 v 4 players on the pitch will soon ensure the managers get the message and sort their players out. This constant pressure on refs is just unfair, least paid person on the pitch by a country mile with by far the most high pressured and difficult job.
I don't think Varney will be doing as much diving in the future.
If you wish to criticise our players , at least spell their names right, Vardy not Varney.!!
This was of course the same ref who gifted you a pen against us at the City ground, sent off our keeper for nothing, and was i believe suspended for his performance.
i wish you lot well, but think you should get your own house in order first
It's a discussion board Thorney. Whether the referee was one who did x, y and z is incidental if you've seen the incident(s). Vardy did try to buy a penalty by purposely colliding with the defender, he's done it before that I've seen and got a penalty that time.
You can claim to be hard done by, but some don't think you were.
The issue was about consistency, though. If it was a penalty against Leicester there should have been ten Penalties in the game. And Vardy's first yellow was very wrong. But he shouldn't have gone off at the ref and if he gets a further ban it's deserved.
Also, after this very rev like article, I'd like to say welcome back rev.
It was his second foul though at a point in the game where the tackles were flying in.
The funny thing is that Leicester's first goal was after Huth did a more obvious foul in their area, then broke away down the other end
If you thought Shearer was talking garbage you should have heard Carragher on Sky Sports, he was basically kiss assing the ref, who Carragher claimed got everything right. The only thing anyone wants. Is consistency, not too much to ask surely.
