I think with the new signings we have now got & the fact we now have a squad not just a first team & 3 sub with 2 youth teamers thrown on for good measure, we are looking really good for a decent push for promotion & Charlton on Monday will be a good measuring stick against a team who have gelled already.
Trueblue did you give yourself a rating of 5?
Great article mate 'av 5 's on me
Yeah thats the impression I get too, the players we had last season were very quiet but all credit to Meggy for gtting in a couple of characters in who, as well as their abilty, make a big difference to morale and dressing room banter as well as geeing players up for games.
I used to sing & play guitar in a rock band too a couple of years back too True Blue, we did some classic rock and modern rock & alternative as well as our own stuff, really miss it and me and my bro have been trying to get a band together for ages but we had some great times though. Trouble were though that our drummer at the time tried to conspire to bring in a lead vocalist so things turned sour after that and we had an awesome guitarist who had the abilty of Steve Vai but sadly his ego was bigger than his talent. After that we tried to get in other muzo's to fill the voids but no-one was available, then I got married and had a kid so its not all bad
Mega Milan get back into it my dad did the same & last year he reformed with old band mates & they regular play gigs all 60's stuff but he is 65 which i don't mind cos he always played his base guitar to us growing up to entertain us.
Good for you Mega. If you've got it in the blood, you'll be back, mark my words! As leader of the band, I get all the headaches and have the unsavoury task of resolving all the problems (that's why I sympathise with anybody taking over the reigns of our club!). Musicians are very much like football players and very easily lose touch of their reality. They can make a manager's job very tough at times. Too many primadonnas!!
My dad did the same who also plays bass, and he still rocks on bless him, go to see his band reguarly, well like I said me and my bro are trying to find a drummer and lead guitarist but its not as easy as it sounds though ... but you never know, plenty of time yet im only 29 and I play to my little lad who always listens bless him
Dewalts:
I know a bloke who lives in Ecclesfield who is also around that age and, like your dad, is a bass player who has also recently got back into the music business and plays 60's stuff. Your dad wouldn't happen to be Martin Willingham would it? Long shot, but you never know
That's a lovely optimistic post Bluesy.
I agree with all of it but do suspect that we'll both be singing a very different song come 10pm Monday.
"Bluesy".......love it lol!!
Hope it'll not be the Blues we'll be singing come quarter to ten Mon evening.
Yeah i'll be back Bluesy . I love to write songs and written a few with the last band, musics definatley in my Blue and White blood as well as footie, apart from family they are the best things in life

Not to worry Dewaltsy ( that doesn't sound bad either ) It was a long-shot but worth a mention.
Yea Mega - Music goes great with footy. If you don't believe me, ask the Arctic Monkeys
OMG..... two 1 votes and statesider still to come
I know Bluesy, to be fair thats the best thing about them, not really into their style but "Dont sit down"'s a cracker though, got a lot of respect for Alex Turner as a writer though but not into indie to be fair, bands like Kooks, Razerlight ect just dont do it for me, Im more of a 30 secs to mars, Feeder, Nickleback, Led Zep, Smashing Pumpkins man myself
Excellent post, nice to see a positive slant on things. 5 from me too. Hate to be all doom and gloom but can see us losing on Monday night
Here's to me being wrong!
Mega, I'd say Kooks/Razorlight etc are more indie pop than proper indie music. They're enjoyable at times & good for sing-a-long but there's no real substance to the songs!
Did you go to Leeds last weekend?? You'd have probably been all over the main stage on the Saturday if your into 30 Seconds to Mars etc....
owls forever. On paper this is one of our toughest tests, so I'm more interested in the performance than the result, but miracles do still happen,)
Mega - Totally with you on your musical taste Still ,nice to know that the Arctics are flying the blue and white flag though
Man o man I wish I could have gone , if i was there I would've have been a man possessed, esp when Jared Leto rose from beneth the stage at the start then as they went into "Attack" & yes I'dve made sure I'd have gone onto the stage for "Kings and Queens" so I did get to see it on the old red button . Nearly went to see them last year in Birmingham but if it wasnt for the sodding weather
I was at Leeds all weekend but I wasn't at the main stage on the Saturday. Not really my thing although I don't mind 30 Seconds & Rise Against!
Another couple of years and you will be imre
