Great article. I wasn't aware of them stats. Can't say I'm surprised really

Unfortunately I have to agree.

The errors over the 3 years stat I was aware of because I'd heard it on the radio and seen it on Twitter. As for the latter two stats, I seen them this morning in the post match reports and articles and like yourself, I'm not surprised.

I think there's some flawed logic and overstatements in your article, but the conclusion is right. We're going to need to find someone in summer to be number 1 GK

No problem - just out of curiosity, what logic did you find to be flawed?

It's shocking we've gone from Reina to Mignolet. A pretty top class keeper to another whose distribution is embarassing and makes many errors over the course of a season. If Ter Stegen isn't happy with his playing time at Barcelona I really hope the club pull out the £20m required to get in a top keeper although I'm sure there will be a queue for his signature should he wish to leave.

A top goalkeeper can have an amazing effect on the whole team as we've seen with De Gea - he has pretty much kept Uniteds season alive especially with the number of jaw dropping saves he pulls off every game. Mignolet may make one of those but then drop a simple ball in the box the next second. Times up for him.

I like him as a person but hes simply not good enough, not really shocked his stats are bad, his distribution alone puts us under a lot of pressure ever game. Yes he can have good games where he pulls off wonderful saves but the consistency isn't there and its outweighed by everything else thats wrong with his game anyway.

No idea why we just gave him a new long term contract.

that he was only dropped for cups and not for form. He got dropped outright for form, by chance Jones got injured shortly after and he got recalled

and that he's not a good shot stopper because the stats 'say' he isn't. Assuming you watch our matches, when we conceded first in that ludicrous number of matches (and just conceding in general) it seems to be their first real chance of the match and no keeper would stop it. We switch off in some comical way.

But I'm done, let's find a new one this summer.

The Kaiser -

Noted, if it was form that causes him to be dropped then I stand corrected.

Disagree about the shot stopping though - we can't go off anything other than stats with this. The one I presented is pretty damning however we dress it up.

But I appreciate the response.

Really hopping Klopp will address the goalkeeper situation in the summer. The squad is showing it's strength in depth and starting to gel regardless of who starts , so for me a good all round keeper should be top priority.

Also might need to look for a camanding centre back who's comfortable on the ball and can play a high line depending on Sakho's situation.

i want him gone, too many mistakes for me and too often

Awful lot of words that could've been condensed into one "he's $hite".

We all know he's $hite. We all know he needs replaced. Yet I still expect him to trot out for the opening game of the season.

The article wasn't written to point out that he's garbage but more to ask why the club are ignoring it and continue to play him with the stats that go against him

It's unfair to blame one individual IMO. This is a team thing, last time I checked we had made the most individual errors so far this season in the Premiership leading to a goal.

That's nothing to do with skill or ability but rather mentality and dedication. They are essentially unforced errors.

The problem is for me that goalkeeping errors are more costly than any other and it saps the confidence of the rest of the team. Does Mig make up for it in leadership ? No. Is his distribution a plus? No. Is his kicking upfield accurate? No.

Personally I think he should be the first player out of the door in the summer.

I think mig is genuinely a nice guy , but that on its own should not get him into the starting line up . Klopp HAS to make that decision for the benefit of the team.

Likely Klopp picks him because there's no alternative. It's likely that simple

Impossible to ignore those stats.

I can only hope the new contract was an attempt at a confidence booster which hasn't worked or to try wrestle a greater fee from potential suitors when we inevitably sell.

Bogdan being second choice hasn't helped either in terms of competition, no matter how Mig has performed he knows he's not going to be replaced.

I've never rated him and that's been evident for years and I'm still fuming and wondering why he came for that ball yesterday!

His distribution is horrendous, even with his throws but his kicking is god awful.

His decision making regarding crosses and balls into the box is baffeling. He comes for balks he shouldn't and stays on his line when he should come.

He's the most error prone goalkeeper in the league.

But he makes the odd great save so let's forget that he's dog shiiiiiiite!

posted on 24/4/16

I can see why he came for the ball, it was very high and looping. It was very claimable.

He completely misread how much the ball was curling out is all.

Bad mistake. But the mistake was misreading the path of the ball, not him going for it. He thought it was coming in flattish and high which it wasn't.

De Gea, Cech, Courtois, Lloris, Hart. Some quality keepers in the league. Realistically who would Mignolets replacement be? Butland worth a punt? Apparently Pep may look to replace Hart. Also, while was Mignolet given a 5 year deal this season?
---------------------
Forster
Butland
Schmicheal
Krul
Adriano
Begovic

All better than him in this league, you've than got other good keepers around Europe.

Replacing Mignolet with a better goalkeeper won't be hard!
