GREED

posted on 25/4/16

66% of adult Americans are 30 pounds overweight and 30% are obese while 20 million human beings starve to death each year..... What's all that about?

---

Even though it's a stat, that's a geographical problem not a universal problem.

_____________

No they shouldn't starve to feed others. They should have a balance. Will help them to reduce obesity and may help other poorer nations in the process.... You are imply if you have the money to eat regardless of consequences

Injustice is not in Americans being FAT but in waste of food across the world..yes ACROSS THE WORLD THE FOOD WASTAGE SI SO GREAT, if utilised properly those resources would make all the people in this world FAT as the Americans.

I think the problem is a bit more complex than that

Don’t think it’s fair to solely point the finger at America. The amount of food that is thrown away (in the west) that is perfectly edible is sickening.

A small fraction of our “waste” could be made available to the starving at negligible cost.

Not sure why some on here are getting a little defensive and sensitive. No evidence about Pope saying anything like that to the African nations.

What I am trying to say is food wastage in the US is not the cause of hunger in Africa there it shouldn't be looked at as the solution, at least not in the long term.

Birth control, and overpopulation are not the (primary) reasons why there are millions in Africa still starving to death.

Poverty, which leads to famine, accelerated via corrupt governments cause more to die.

Clearly by how far we all are over here, there is zero food wasted.

Go point your finger at the bulimic of the world

Tim Sherwood Next Arsenal Manager

Don’t think the OP was ‘blaming’ America – just pointing out the imbalance that millions in the world are starving to death whilst (at the same time) many are eating themselves to death too.
