Don’t think the OP was ‘blaming’ America – just pointing out the imbalance that millions in the world are starving to death whilst (at the same time) many are eating themselves to death too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Should I give all my high fructose corn syrup and beer to starving children?

Yeah it is utterly ridiculous the amount of food gets thrown away. No idea why supermarkets restaurant etc can't give unsold food away to the homeless. Heard it was a legal thing incase they get sued for food poising or whatever. If that's true a law should be brought in so that can't happen and food can be given away.
Same with houses. Thousands of free properties in this country that no one lives in.

It'll make me slimmer.
And they'll be far too drunk and high on sugar to worry about dinner.

Yes, if there's anything the homeless want, it's a nice moldy cauliflower washed down with a pint of warm curdled milk

Many people (in the UK) live off perfectly edible food that is thrown away. The BBC aired series of programs on it.
Food that is not esthetically appealing etc which farms are forced to destroy – tonnes (literally) of it. Or millions of litres of coke which is destroyed as the labels became slightly faded in the sun.
http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34647454
That is quite shocking! I am not from the UK so I'll just ask, do people the poor esp regularly go hungry or are there safety nets for that?
Obviously you wouldn't give them mouldy food. But there's plenty of food which is fine to each which gets thrown away before, or just on its sell by date. At hinge life buffets, there's plenty of fresh food that gets thrown straight away if no one eats it at lunch.
One of my jobs back during collage I worked as a waiter, they'd be loads of occasions they just throw plated up food straight in the bin
66% of adult Americans are 30 pounds overweight and 30% are obese while 20 million human beings starve to death each year..... What's all that about?
--------------------------------------
The first part of the statement is probably a country affluent enough to more than feed itself to the point of gluttony, whilst the second part is probably a combination of lack of educating, corruption, selfishness and downright stupidity in 3rd world countries.
Exactly - greed and inconsideration of others is the only reason the world is in a corrupt state today.
Poster, stop being ridiculous... 40% of the children in the world are malnourished - is that because they are uneducated? Corrupt? Selfish? 40% of pet cats in the U.S. and Europe are obese due to overfeeding.... They must be educated and earning?
70% of saudis are overweight.....they should be feeding the refugees instead of stuffing their faces

Read my comment again and see it for what it is rather than what you want it to be. Stop looking for an argument when there probably isn't one.
downright stupidity? wow you must have some incredible insight that we can only stand in awe!
There are more fat peopele(number) in India and China than in Britain. Percentage always confuses with the actual number.
There are also considerably more people in China and India compared to UK.
Obesity by percentage of population would be a more accurate metric to use.

the obesity problem in the states isn't really to do with gluttony. Its the poor quality food available to the poorest people. High fructose corn syrup is in everything just because its so cheap and addictive.
Why spend the money on expensive fresh produce when you can get a double cheeseburger for $1.
The only way a lot of people can feed their families is with cheap nasty unhealthy food.

Afridi (and Wump), you didn't heed my advice to read my comments carefully, rather than look for an argument did you?
Perhaps consider that the descriptive words I used weren't all specifically directed to 3rd world countries, but also countries that have provided 'aid'.
