Why is this on the Arsenal board?

posted on 27/4/16

I said I'd take him in heartbeat for years.

Also, people claim his football is boring, OK maybe not to everyone's taste, but he has limited resources unlike Chelsea.

Also rather play his way and reach CL finals, than play our suicide football and become the team Barcelona LOVE to play.

Too educate people Oxtail.
Leti play good football when they need to and are clinical with their chances. They make defence an art and all the back four are comfortable on the ball but don't hesitate to row z it when in danger. Possession is an overrated stat as they prove time after time

His football is incredibly boring, and those who use the 'resources' excuse do so blindly. They've played their horrible brand of 'football' against lesser lights on numerous occasions.

Simeone as good a job as he has done at Atleti, I dunno if he would do quite as well here.

For a start, I think a lot of Arsenal fans wouldn't accept his style of football. He is extremely one dimensional (albeit an extremely effective one dimension). Look at the percentage of goals Atleti score from set pieces. There was some stat last season where Atleti's last 14 of 15 goals were scored from set pieces, something ridiculous like that.

Also his record in the transfer market is pretty awful when he's spent significant money, so I don't know if I would trust him to open up the overflowing 'warchest' of ours.

But at this stage, I'd be willing to try just about anything including Mourinho.

Simeone will be at Athletico a few years yet and then to Inter the club he's always wanted to manage

If we were winning things, the fans definitely would accept his brand of football at Arsenal. Can't imagine any fan saying I wish we didn't win the CL and finished 4th playing great football instead.Plus we've had so long of Wenger ball, a different approach would be tolerated. Plus he wouldn't turn us into Stoke and alladyce's teams, and buy Andy Carroll and instruct us to just band it up top and run. Much more to his game than that.

Anyway. It's highly unlikely he'll come anytime soon. Got a good thing at madrid, and I can't see our board going all out for him. Probably even if he was available they'd Offer F all and be happy to miss out. They'd rather promote Vic Akers

Our pansy players are too soft to adapt to simeones methods anyway.

Simeone is just the new Mourinho.

I would have him at Arsenal though because we have played a "weak" brand of football with wimpish players for a decade now and it would be nice to see something different.

I don't think we would turn into a boring team either because we have flair players already that Diego would probably still play (Sanchez, Ozil).

I wouldn't say no to Cholo.

IMO this would swing our football in the total opposite direction and how can it support the legacy Wenger bought to the club of the most attractive style played.

I'm not saying the procession football does not have to go but having nice counter attacking football and a solid defense and midfield like Wenger had in the beginning is where I'd like to be at again.

Your level of moral is embarrassing. Mourinho at Arsenal is a new low.

If he wins the CL he'd go down as one of the greatest managers of the modern era.

We played Simeone's way a while ago. And no thanks don't want to go back to it. Most of you don't remember George Graham's Arsenal. It wasn't pretty and it wasn't some golden age.

Success isn't predicated on boring football. Just because Wenger's deficiency in building a squad without David Dein holding his hand, has exposed his excuses doesn't mean we should be that desperate.

Someone's team plays better football then current Arsenal team no doubt. Its easy to be fooled and call them a defensive side....but the way they approach the defensive game in unlike anyone in Prem.

Its like they have defensive gears, shifting from one to another according to situations. Their players are so committed, I've never seen Arsenal players play with such intensity and commitment full 90 mins.

If Simeone had better budget his teams would not only be solid defensively as of now but venomous attack upfront..It would be like watching Arsenal of the past a bit more defensive but deadly counters and attack.

If you got Simeone you'd have one good/possibly great season and then boom. You'd forget how to score.

Think Moyes when he left Everton.

Martinez got them attacking, but they still had Moyes' defensive spirit of the Jagielka with them.

Now they're facked.

Have you not seen us this season? we literally do not know how to score already. Our CF has gone something like 14 PL games without a goal ffs.

Why i'd like him here is that he would bring abit if steel to the team and hopefully get rid of that loser mentality that is currently lingering all around the club due to Wenger.

Do the people mocking Simeone's style of play honestly think we play exciting football at the moment under Wenger.

We are so boring and predictable.

I'm bemused with the perceptions of Simeone's team. I remember watching them hammer Madrid 4-0 last season (part of a run of 4 consecutive victories over their massive neighbours) and it could have been 8-0. I remember they thoroughly battered Chelsea 2 seasons ago when Chelsea were running away with the title. With 9 men for majority of the game this season, they were outplaying Barcelona in La Liga in. 2-1 loss when 99% of teams would have either rolled over or entered survival mode packing everyone in their defence. They are far from one-dimensional and they're adaptable.

They actually move the ball tidily and don't hoof it. Many here must watch a different team than I do because they watch Athletico with preconcieved notions. I can tell you for a fact Atletico won't just beat us, they will dominate us. Which makes the Simeone snobbery a bit ridiculous.

FFS, look at how they beat Barca. Convincingly over 2 legs despite playing 70 mins of the 180 with 10-men and unfavourable red card decisions (Suarez and Iniesta should have walked) that could have cost them. How do you watch a tactical masterclass like that which is routine for Simeone and turn your nose up at him. It's ludicrous.
