Sorry but dont agree with you Pelle had no answer for Madrid tonight at all, boring predictable football and never caused them problems throughout....I would have taken a defeat had we given it a good go but that was pathetic.

So where were the problems? Man for man they are the better team

Hart=Navas
Sagna < Carvajal
Ramos > Otamendi
Pepe = Kompany
Marcelo > Clichy
Fernando< Kroos
Dinho > modric
Isco > Yaya
Jese < KDB
Navas <bale
Aguero <ronaldo

This completely explains why they were fairly comfortably better

We can't argue with the result, they were the better team, but I think only 1 of our 7 defenders and midfielders would get in there team and that's Fernandinho

Still struggling to see what our game plan was...

Experience is key in Europe though, it doesn't just happen. We are getting there.

Athletico Madrids squad is miles inferior to Bayern Munichs but they had a game plan ugly as it was and it worked, the fact they have a manager who oozes passion and installs it in the team helps no end aswell, something we have been lacking since Mancini left

No plan no motivation from a manager that's supposed to be tactically knowledgable.

We were slow lethargic sloppy just no desire.

That comes from pel.

Thanks for everything pel and here's looking forward to Europa league next season because this team has thrown the towel in.

If you can't get your team motivated for a CL semi final 2nd leg with all to play for then when can you
2 more games and thankfully he's gone

So disappointing and a real opportunity missed. Team literally picked and told to just go out and play football by the looks of it. No direction or strategy. No inspiration. No adventure.

Southampton would have given them a much better game. At least Man City had 2 close moments with Fernandinho and Aguero.

Madrid were no great shakes last night.
That was an opportunity gone.

Yaya and Kelechi took the place of where Kev should have been (to be more effective). Kev left holes On our flanks.

Aguero had nothing to go on at all and when he did his touch was awful, he was dropping back deeper and deeper just as Rooney does when he gets frustrated.

It shouldn't really affect us in an attacking sense but when Kompany went off it all went to pieces, we started very well albeit for only ten minutes.

I fear for Vincent Kompanny

It sounds harsh but maybe it's time for Kompany to move on, no manager can build a defence around a player who is exceptional but is going to be injured every three games.

Didn't happen for Serge, not helped by Yaya being fecking dross. We had a better link between Sergio and the two Ferns in the last leg, which is saying something because playing 442 there was no fecker actually in that role. KDB disappointing, but he's still young all experience for him. Perhaps lucky we avoided the final. Atletico would have fecked us harder than Liverpool did both times this season combined.

I'm still annoyed about last night because they were there for the taking if we'd played with any semblance of a plan.

Fact is, KdB and Aguero were way off the pace and that was evident after the first 30 minutes yet we persisted with the same strategy.

Someone said on the way out that Leicester or Liverpool would have got a result and they were right.

Didn't think they were anything close to the side we faced in the group stages a few years back. Really poor game from us that. Totally clueless and no plan in terms of how to counter them.

Fernandinho better than Modric?

Seriously?

While your gaffer can not take the blame for not being able to match them for talent on the night, he has been in charge for 3yrs and it could be argued it is his fault you got in this situation.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Pep does. It's a real challenge for him. You have some amazing forwards, but I think he has a rebuild across the defensive positions to oversee, as well as midfield.

I do see him trying to buy Alderweireld myself
