Completely agree. Evans has done enough for me to be given another year and to be backed with cash this summer. As you say, if by xmas we're mid table and not looking like challenging for promotion he can go. Although a new manager could come in and get promoted in his 1st season it's highly unlikely. It would probably mean we could get a top ten finish at best next season and mc will wield the axe again and we're back to square one.

It would be interesting to know if mc has ever had the same manager in charge on the opening day for 2 consecutive seasons? I'm betting the answer to that will be no.

No, he doesn't know where he stands. His contract might end in June, but he doesn't know if it's been extended or not and if he needs to seek employment and with it been a seasonal game, he'll want to get a new club asap.

It's no way to run a football club and I don't really like Steve Evans that much, but everyone needs to know what the plan is and where we're going as a club, which includes more people than just the owner.

It's not shocking though and not sure why people seem to be surprised by it anymore. It's the norm for Leeds United.

Evans has actually said Cellino protects him:

http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/cellino-protected-me-says-leeds-united-boss-steve-evans-as-he-holds-hands-up-to-unacceptable-brighton-rout-1-7773777

Should be no confusion if what Evans said was true ie he'd be given new contract if he avoided relegation.

Isn't this the same John Sheridan that Howard Wilkinson oiked out after he was drunk and disorderly in Briggate early one morning...?

Surely that'd be a qualification in Massimo Cellino's eyes...??

What annoys me most is that we are wasting precious time planning for next season, utter incompetence.

agree Aza, just seems to be no urgency at all.

You are missing the point, Ellando. Evans signed a contract to the end of June this year. This includes his salary to that point in time and any other condtions agreed between him and Celino. He could just as easily have signed it to the last day of season, but he didn't.
Now he's trying to force Cellino's hand, hi-jacking the emotions of many of our fans such as Harrogate above. Evans knows exactly where he stands. He is our manager until June. That's what he agreed to. Instead of playing the bleeding heart and undoing a lot of the good work he did earlier in the campaign, he should get on with the job of managing the team. There is still plenty to do, even if he is not going to be the manager next season.
It is difficult to admit it, but Cellino is in the right about this one.

Never heard as much rubbish in my life

Nearly All deals including players and managers are till June end of June

Managing the team, they have all gone on holiday

So what is the manager supposed to be doing !!!!

Planning for next season ???

And explain how Evans knows where he stands, he doesn't know if he will be in a job next season

Good Evans - are you for real !

Good Evans is right, like I said before, sounding like Redfern/Warnock, trying to get sympathy vote and Cellino has already told him before that he's talking too much in public about his contract.

Not saying that Cellino is handling it correctly, but Evans should just do what the contract says but be looking for job elsewhere as he knows he's not being retained.

Totally agree with AZA.

Evans should have already been given a contract or the new bod lined up and Evans told you're on your way so the new bod can start thinking of next season at the very least. We should be starting now, not waiting to some time in June.

Re Evans, if he thinks he's on his way I can't see any problem with him looking for another club whilst maintaining his obligations to Leeds all the time he is contracted. We've all sought alternative work I imagine whilst in employment, why should he be any different. I agree with Jonty on this.
