Look Pep is considered the most prepared manager in the world. Apparently he has a film room ala American Football, analysing every match and produces DVDs on individual player performances. All top managers are intense and Wenger is a good manager. Just not a very top one anymore, doing us favour as you seem to suggest. I think he doesn't have the magic without David Dein's whispering in his ear but thats my opinion (which has only been enforced by his recent buying and poor tactical player assessment).

Wenger was never first choice for Chelsea when Abrhamovic took over. I don't know where you get that impression. Think about it. Wenger likes to control everything. Roman has always run Chelsea like a dictator. He had full input on all activities when he first took over. He has only relaxed recently. Wenger could have never worked for someone like that and Roman knew that.

And Wenger wasn't doing very well when Man City takeover happened. They always work on hiring the flavour of the month. And Wenger was not that after the City takeover in Sep 2008 that didn't have full affect till 2009.

Wenger has himself admitted that a lot of the bank loans were based on him staying on to stabilise things. What he didn't say was that golden handcuff works two ways. Although Wenger did Arsenal a favour by staying on in 2007 when Dein was fired, he also got his pound of flesh for staying on (very very good wages)!

The reports at the time was that Chelsea wanted Wenger. September 2008 we'd nearly won the league against billionaires Chelsea after selling Henry. Anyway it's pointless arguing over little details that nobody can prove, we all know back in the day Wenger was in demand and could have walked into high paying jobs elsewhere. I'm not saying Wenger's doing us a favour or even that he's a top quality manager anymore, but arguing against your point that he's only with us for the money.. even to the extent that if he completely fecks up next season he'll do everything he can do stay just so he can keep getting his wages. It sound like a paranoid conspiracy theory. For me he stays because we're the only club that would let him carry out what his basically his own football experiment but he's intelligent enough to know that it's not working and fans aren't happy.

Piers Morgan wants Arsene to go. Since Piers is always wrong, we need to be begging Wenger to sign a new long term deal

Now that Welbeck is gone for next year, Wenger has another excuse for a new rebuilding program.

Sadly, time has passed this old-timer by.
