300k pensioners in Spain ey?? Enjoying the sun at the end of their working careers enjoying life, opposed to the polish people taking a lot of OUR jobs, schools and causing mishap. Sat in my works canteen several times since ive been their and been in a ratio of 1:10 English to foreign.
And those pensioners aren't a strain on the Spanish health system?
Imagine if we had 300k Spanish pensioners who didn't speak English in a community on the south coast That's all the Out campaign would go on about.
My point is that when discussing EU immigration and the negatives, we need to remember that British people take advantage of freedom of movement too. If we leave the EU, what happens to those Brits living abroad?
Fair point best
But I don't see English going over to Spain, making areas no go areas for the natives and raping their kids on a huge scale
You're talking about non EU immigration now though?
I presume you mean what's happened in Rotherham etc.
Won't go into that, but what's happened there is nothing to do with EU. Voting out EU won't reduce immigration from non EU countries, that's all on our government.
Are you sure you're talking about Europeans LIW?
For me you need to look at net migration.
My understanding is that shows a lot more coming here then leaving here.
For the record immigration is good...Just worry too many people may come at once.
In short, the gates are open. Some like it, I just don't
IN ! There's plenty wrong with the way the European Commission operates at present, so we ( the European people as a whole ) need to get active and serious about reforming it. TTIP needs stopping in it's tracks, it's the French who are leading the fight on that. If we're out we'll find ourselves having to suck up our own little version pretty much on whatever terms the UNITED ( get my point ?) States deigns, in it's own good time, to offer us. The European Regulations that the Brexiteers are so keen to rid us of are mainly, as Best Fans points out, , things protecting worker's rights and conditions, and the environment.
Out the vote is about the behemoth that is Brussels being given a mandate to continue growing the European union & like all Empires it will implode on itself. Greece has already started it let us get to the boats before the ship goes down.🤗 MOT
Ex pats are different mate. Not saying ppl shouldnt be able to migrate etc. However it should be skill based and not judged on how cheap you can do the work.
Thats not me typecasting per say, but having friends in the trade industry they all tell the same tales of being undercut by Eastern Europeans.
Again not conjecture and or opinion but a reality.
Mike, I agree about wage undercutting. That is a problem, and I think it was a mistake for EU to let those countries join.
But, how are expats different? They're Brits taking advantage of the freedom of movement, just like a Pole working in UK. Like I said, if we vote out the EU, what happens to the 1.2 million Brits living in EU? Would they come back here? How would it impact us having more pensioners putting pressure on NHS?
Britain has exported more British citizens to all corners of the globe in the last 200 years, and now they are complaining about immigration. Laughable.
Out.
Re immigration, no problem with anyone coming here if they 'contribute'
Don't want slackers, criminals and scroungers (we've got enough of them here already, mostly home grown)
We can trade with anyone, we always have.
We are already a totally multi cultural society and have been for generations.
All I think is those coming here should abide by our rules and our laws and our moral code (in general) we do theirs when we go abroad.
We have supported more failing countries than any other. We have sent aid and sent skilled workers worldwide for years.
The really sad part is this, whilst helping the majority of decent people suffering, some of those causing havoc throughout the world today have also probably been assisted in the past by money and aid from this country...?
Think on that.
"They're Brits taking advantage of the freedom of movement, just like a Pole working in UK. Like I said, if we vote out the EU, what happens to the 1.2 million Brits living in EU? "
I'm sure we could manage to swap 2 of theirs for 1 of ours
Well summed up Eric.................
Highlandwhite . Come Onnnnnnnnn Leeeeeeeeeeeds!!!
I have my moments.
We're having a vote on leaving the European Union, not on leaving Europe, we'll always be part of the continent.
For the record OUT for me. 👍
We are not part of the continent technically speaking. We just have locality.
I'm definitely OUT. We joined up when there were only 8 nations included and it was a trade agreement. We did not agree to 28 member countries (and still growing) or being part of a federal Europe. Germany may have lost the war but seems to be achieving it's aims by bossing the EU.
I just want the UK to be able to make it's own decisions again and not be constantly overruled by the EU.
Also, our country is creeking from the number of extra people it is having to absorb. I couldn't get a Dr's appt recently for 4 weeks!
Yes, I'm definitely for OUT.
It's an interesting one. Personally don't feel it's going to make an ioata of a difference whichever way it goes... In or out. But it's fascinating to read people's opinions on why;
1 - immigration.... People must realise that there are desperate people in the world and we are duty-bound (what our core values and principles are) to help and assist... Also lets be realistic for one minute- these immigrants from Middle East are only there because of our interference in Afghan and Iraq. Anyone the denies that is deluded and in cloud cuckoo land
People mentioning Rotherham... Sorry but they were "home grown" British folk. Fact. None of the immigrants (their parents grandparents ) were involved in that... And if you actually look at stats white English folk are responsible for 97% of rapes in this country.... So that's a ridiculous thing to base a sole devision on...
Agree though, it definately needs containing... Within eu and out of eu.
2) trade - no evidence on either side what effects it's going to have
3) we leave, US and major Europe countries will treat us like shttt....
100% out.
People give the example of trade, what like the train building contract we had to give to a foreign country rather than bombardier???? What like the French and Germans that buy our utilities yet SSE aren't allowed to operate in Europe...... Nobody knows if we'll be better off or worse off financially, so you make the decision based on other factors
India,China,Africa,The American continent, makes up for the larger part of the world, and it's now easier to transport goods around the world. We have been restricted by the Europeans long enough. And we can't control our borders until we stop taking orders from brussels. It's an easy choice. OUT. We were not told in the late sixties in the build up to joining and when we voted for the (common market) as it was then called. That we would have our laws controlled and would cost us billions just to be in. And Europe would still trade with us anyway, the world and Europe is still a free market. When I was at school we were told it would secure our future and jobs for generations. Where's the jobs ?. Oh I forgot. It secured jobs for foreign workers that our own could be doing. And coming out would not effect the world security, because Nato is not controlled by Europe alone. OUT.
I read the other week that Europe account for only 10% of our GDP.
Anybody thinking of voting "in" should consider the following wise words from Tony Benn:
"If one meets a powerful person ask them five questions:
“What power have you got?
Where did you get it from?
In whose interests do you exercise it?
To whom are you accountable?
And how can we get rid of you?”
If you cannot get rid of the people who govern you, you do not live in a democratic system."
The EU is not a democratic system - there is no way that our country can vote out the people in control.
I defy anybody to tell me exactly who the people in control are without resorting to Google.
Forget all the debates about finances, immigration, laws and job losses - the one thing you need to know is that a vote "in" is a vote to stay in a developing dictatorship.
