Remeber watching Gabriel Batistuta on C4 when they used to show Seria a and he really was amazing. Really should have left alot sooner as he deserved way more that 1 title.
I disagree about Le Tiss. Stayed at Southampton despite interest from Liverpool when they were good and others.
Henrik Larsson
No disrespect to Celtic but that lad could have and probably should have played in one of the top leagues earlier than he did
Ole Gunnar Solskjær springs to mind.
He would have been first choice for 95% of clubs but chose to dedicate his career to Utd's bench.
Fair play, his call and he's loved by Utd fans, but you can't help but think he could have played a little bit more football!

I was that Pillock that seriously underestimated Larsson because of the quality of the league he was playing in. I was even conveniently overlooking the fact he played well for Sweden, particularly against England.
Wasn't until i saw him place for Barca and even when he made his cameo for United i realised what a fool i had been in thinking that.

Depends on your definition of achieved I guess.
Would he have won more medals? Absolutely not, no chance.
I guess it's a question of whether it's better to be a little part of something big or a big part of something small. I doubt many footballers grow up dreaming of being a sub.
My only point was he remained loyal to one of the very few clubs where his ability wasn't enough to command a leading role.

OGS was much more than a little part of something big.
He made 366 appearances for the club over an eleven year period of which 2 seasons were wiped out by injury.

Ok, small part is probably being a touch too dismissive but he still spent the majority of his time on the Utd bench and came on later in the game.
Fans tend to be sympathetic when players leave looking for first team football, this is just the reverse really.
There are loads of players who have been happy with reduced roles at success clubs, Ole just sprang to mind because of the longevity of his stint at Utd.

Why would it not be serious? Interest from a club who are in the champions league final or remain at a club that cannot even qualify for said competition

Just had a quick look at his stats and he had over 40 appearances for 3 seasons in a row
He had this super sub tag but he was very much a part of a brilliant rotational system

He would be gone but for a Madrid feck up though
Weird Statement coming up…………….. Didier Drogba was almost too loyal to Marseille. He was devastated that they accepted our bid and yearned to return to them for 2 years after.
Now I believe and his book backs it up, that if by some miracle, Chelsea and Marseille were to meet in a Cup Final, then he’d want Chelsea to beat his boyhood team every time.

I can only assume you were in a coma on deadline day last season.
If not you must be stupid.
First person who jumped into my head was Totti. In his prime easily one of the top 3 to 5 players in the world, but is never really seen as a player whose name gets dropped in 'best player...' discussion. Even with Italy he only holds something like 50 caps when he should be 100+. Can't help but think his loyalty to Roma to this day contributes to that.
How about Glen hoddle
Should he have moved from spurs earlier than he did ?
Jason Dozzell was wasted at Spurs.
Kevin Davies at Bolton anyone?
