Vardy

As it stands he is a one-season wonder, but if he does come we have to hope he turns into a 5 season wonder

We will probably play him in the left attacking role, though.

However, I do not think the price is a massive sum in modern football, especially not for the player who has just shot his team to the title and won POTS.

And at the end of the day we could have spent more on the likes of Morata or Lacazette, players with no PL experience, and they could just as easily flop.

The problem is we have a Vardy already in Theo but don't play to he's strengths just like we won't play to Vardy's strengths which is quick one, two touch football where three passes later your shooting at the opponents goal unlike the 50+ passes we do before we even think about shooting

It's been a long time since I last saw Arsenal in a big studio movie.

Gazidis must be rubbing his hands at the potential image rights.

He scored what 24 goals last season so it's unfair to say that Mahrez and Kante were soley behind Leicester success.

United did but Rvp at what 28-29 and he single handily won them the league.

I think wengers has realised that he has one more season to go and that it is the prem that will be the main target next season.

I like Theo and I've been known to defend him quite a bit.

I'll admit to him being absolutely clueless in front of goal though.

Fair points, but Morata and Lacazette if they were to flop (very debatable) would have selling price and always a suitor around. Secondly they are young and could be developed into better players. Third, they have as much chance as Vardy in succeeding and if they did to succeed it would be a massive coup.

Yes the price is not massive sum in comparison to modern football but consider his age and wages it is huge sum, considering this is Arsenal we are talking about. Its massive risk and with this we will have lot less investment left as we do not have oil fields to back up our transfer dealings.

Lastly, the hope of him turning into five season wonder is like hoping that Giroud turns into Ronaldo overnight just won't happen in the real world.

I mean they were the main key behind LCFC's success. Vardy did bang them goals in but when the chips were down and they needed leaders to push through the title it was down to Mayrez, Kante and their defence.

Not really. Vardy has proved he can do it in just his second season of top flight football.

He is 29 and the whole system of LCFC was adapted to suit his one dimensional style. That will unlikely happen at Arsenal.

Scored 3 in 4 for England as well this year.

England and LCFC are pretty similar style and we saw him flop for England when played out of position and out of his style.

If we want a stats player we already have Wallcot in our ranks.

Vardy would be a cracking signing with all the long-range passers we have in the squad. The sheer amount of through-balls we generate, would be massive for a quick lad inside the box.

He'd still have to cut down on the diving as Sanchez did however.

Walcott has a high of 14 league goals in 10 PL seasons.
Vardy has a high of 24 league goals in 2 PL seasons.

Vardy has far better stats

That is playing out of his natural position and style.

I am sure Vardy will struggle to reach those stats when played out of position as Wallcot.

Whats this nonsense about Vardy not suiting our style or being played out of position? The only question is whether he can replicate his form.

So Walcott has been played out of position for 10 years?

posted on 4/6/16

Walcott has never established a position.

posted on 4/6/16

Wallcot this season had around 10 goals from 11 at the start of the season pre-injury..

This exactly the problem with Vardy another average player with one off season in which he was little bit better than the poorer attackers we have. Do we need another average player who has 2 seasons left in him at best?

Arsenal need to aim higher and sign better players not another average player.

Walcott had 3 goals in his 8 starts as a striker at the start of the season

Wenger has lost the plot. Now i am convinced

posted on 4/6/16

Wallcot was just a name thrown into the mix which does not take away from he point that Vardy is just another average player and waste of transfer funds on a 29 year old looking for last payday.

If this deal goes through, then we have another Ian Wright on our hands, or RVP to Man U. Brilliant Wenger!

£20M is hardly a snip and if we are going all out this summer then Lukaku for me is the only striker worth breaking the bank for that is already in the EPL. Vardy had a very good season and had adjusted quite well to the international game albeit in competitive friendlies. I would not say it is a no from me, but if we are splashing the cash then he would not be my choice from this league.

yeah but you lot want to sign a striker who is equally old or even older apart from Aubameyang who is not moving anyway.
