Wenger already said in an interview last month that Giroud is his first choice striker. Vardy would've probably been stuck out on the wing.

Cheer up Batmanu, you could still get Morata, who is a big game player and needs more starts to up his scoring consistency up.

Higuain cost Napoli £30M odd, would probably cost the same now. Arsenal look stupid for turning him down, regardless. At least going back in for him would admit a mistake and attempt to rectify it. As for Morata, I really don't want him, he doesn't strike me as a prolific forward. We need somebody who is going to batter the smaller teams into submission, last season our record vs the top teams was pretty good.

Vardy would be a better signing than Higuain.

Just because he doesn't have a fancy name doesn't mean he isn't a proven premiership striker who bagged 24 goals last season.

And what basis would he be a better signing?

I stopped reading at the word Sturridge. A player who is fit for 3 months a season better than Vardy?!?! Come on...if you want to make a case for better options, don't name someone who would be a perfect fit simply because he'd be injured 2/3 of the season.

He's a bit of a crock, but he is far, far better than Vardy.

Yes, he is a crock, but when fit he is the best CF in England after Aguero imo.

Plus his injury history would make him a lot more affordable than he should be.

And what is to say Vardy would not get injured playing for Arsenal, like everyone else?

Sturridge has shown little loyalty to any of the clubs he's played with thus far. A decent offer for him from us and I'm sure he'd be wangling his way out of Anfield is a shot.

And if we *ahem* sweetened the deal... say, £15m plus Little Theo, Klopp would probably take that.

Best bit of business they'd do this summer.

Again...why buy a player who we know has a horrendous injury record? This is Spaaarta...I mean Arsenal...where fit players come to get injuries. Can you imagine buying a semi crock?? Kallstrom comes to memory.

Even if we buy Vardy, we all know he will be on the flanks

Suarez was the only striker Wenger has been keen on knowing he would take Girouds spot.

Everyone else Wenger has looked to bring in has been nothing other than the supporting act to Giroud

I agree id rather have Vardy over sturridge for fitness reasons alone, but Arsenal should be looking at top quality atrikers like Higuain, not one season wonders like Vardy

This is exactly what I'm struggling to understand from aggressive Arsenal fans who think those of us skeptical about a man with just one season of quality behind him are "plastic" or "arrogant." These same Arsenal fans laughed at Spurs unrelentingly when they signed a 22 year old Darren Bent who'd hit 22 and 15 goals for awful Charlton sides and had shown an abundance of potential for £16m, yet Vardy is apparently a masterstroke at 30 years of age and just one good season behind him.

I honesty fail to understand why being underwhelmed and tentative about Vardy - a Vardy who isn't even sure about wanting to come to us - is such an affront.
