Super Johnny on his way.?

Unless he vastly improved his end product then I a bid of around £1.5m would probably see him on his way.

Unlikely!

Rowetts first choice is a player they've bid 300k for, cant see them paying more for 2nd choice

Birmingham are struggling to sign a player for £300,000 so what chance would they have of signing Johnny? Nonsense story invented by the local press to fill column inches.

He was our most influential attackers last season. Worked his socks off and was a delight to watch. I would hate him to be playing against us. I hope this is just a rumour created for mischievous reasons.

Whilst, of course, our squad should seek for continuous improvement, it was a pretty sound set up last year, failing in the promotion bid only for very poor tactics by Wassall in the home play-off game v Hull. We were head and shoulders better than Hull at the end of last season and it was Wassall's stupid paying of Hughes in the holding role. We needed him further forward creating.

Good luck getting a better replacement for £1.5m then Tommo.

In today's market we'd want £3.5m to £4m, well in excess of what Brum can afford.

It seems all my favourite players are leaving. First the wonderful Buxton, now the hard working Russell and soon we will be seeing the end of Hughes and Martin.

So it's sell the good players and keep the ones who are unsellable.

I do not like the way things are going at our club.

This may be down to Johnny and his agent. I believe he's in his last year of his contract.

For the record, I don't fully blame wassall for the hill defeat, the players have to take slot of blame for their own performances that day. Johnson giving the ball away cheaply and not chasing back for 1 of their goals isn't down to wassall. The poor corner deep into injury time that allowed hull to break and score the crucial 3rd wasn't down to wassall.

Forward Johnny Russell has signed a new contract which will keep him at Derby County until the summer of 2018.

Contracts don't mean a lot other than they cost the buyer more money -

If you speak to Blues fans - they reckon they're on for a top 10 spot - but can barely raise 300k for a new player.
I don't think Derby would raise an eyebrow unless at least 3m was offered.

Hoo Bloody Ray for that. I hope he is going only to the iPRO. We need him

I think the story can be dismissed.

Don't get me wrong, i like Johnny, I don't want to see him go but i get the feeling Weimann is a guaranteed starter, Ince will be moving in to the middle and it seems Pearson likes Blackman too so Johnny has to add more goals/assists to his game. I just think we will see more leave before the end of august.

I'd replace every player in the squad Tommo if it meant being replaced by someone better. Had it stands I haven't seen anyone transferred this summer who I thought was better than we have for the transfer fee

Hit the nail on the head there Griff. There aren't the players available at the right price. Norwich just signed Pritchard and of course Newcastle have been buying everybody. Other than those players I haven't seen any signings which make me envious of other clubs. £12M for McCormack at 30 seems a real rip off. He may have scored and created a few but where did Fulham finish?

I don't think Pearson will play Blackman but Weimann should start if he can play like he did at Hull. Pearson is low risk and I believe will play the team that played at Hull with just Forsyth for Olsson as the only change.

I think it was £8m for Pritchard who had 1 good season at Brentford but didn't cut it in the prem at WBA. Sounds abit like Bamford

Squad nos. give no indication he's off

Interesting that Bent and Ince have new numbers now. Think we will be playing two strikers, perm any 2 from numbers 9,10 and 11.

Surprised that Rawson doesn't have a number

Exactly Jorv, not quite the "last year of his contract".

posted on 4/8/16

tbf I couldn't remember him signing the contract year. but he is in his last year before his final year of his contract.

just out of interest does anyone know the expiry of the contracts for the other players pre-clement era.

I don't think he's close to being irreplaceable; he was only ever brought in as concubine for #CB4 anyway, and now that Peabo's had Jack Stamps twice-over and is captain there's no real need for the energetic but profligate multi-hued beardface.
