English clubs wont leave the prem, we make enough money, not our problem the other countries get paid less for tv rights.
Funny how the Premier League's last placed team gets more than Madrid for winning their league. Good work England.
.....................................
TBH whilst most were a little envious of Real's tv deals you could start to see the benefits paying off a good few years ago, in the long term a shared deal can perhaps benefit us even more than having our own tv deal.
We're talking about this again are we?
I remember the G-14. That was useful.
we are real Madrid and we are not making the most money
aren't these pr111cks reigning CL holders?
not exactly a problem then is it.

Agreed - obviously as a supporter of my country's Champions (and the first British team to win the Cup) I already feel a tad miffed about having to endure 3 qualifying ties just to get into the League proper (albeit entering via "the Champions' Route" does help).
However, the potential scenario outlined in this article sounds as if it would make life a lot more difficult for all countries' reps outside the "Big 4"
So Madrid get less than our relegated teams, yet we can't splash out on some real quality.
And don't give me this no CL crap, Pogba, Kante and Zlatan have given it up this season, pay the fecking money and show some ambition we will get the quality.
So hypocritical though Chronic seeing as they've been doing the same thing for years on end.
Apparently Real helped us out immensely when we had the Munich disaster, or at least helped us out after it....even offering to loan us Puskas or Di Stefano maybe, not sure. Mr Bernabeu may have been involved?
ioag told me
So they weren't always this abomination of greed you see today.
How can the EPL make money by the shedload, but not Uefa?
Is it really all to do with marketing, or is it basically a slightly different product on sale in England and Wales? Scottish tv money is risible, and NI's doesn't exist.
Seems like the global customers have made their preference known. And the European big clubs will have to suck it up - whilst continuing to receive their disguised government handouts.

I thought all Champions got into pot 1 regardless?
Or is it once you're through the qualifiers? Unbelievable.
This is an idea that has mooted for a while now - along with the playing the 38th game of the PL abroad or so.
The latter was quickly shut down; here is to hoping this is shut down once and for all too.

Shinjury - we're almost definitely in pot 4, unless a few results go our way tonight, then it's pot 3
I think it's just a case of there being more games and more relevant games to watch as a fan of a team in it.
For starters United will play 38 league games but even getting all the way to the final of the CL is 13 games (not sure if its an extra 2 for EL ? )
The teams you watch because you dislike them are usually domestic teams, you may well watch their European games but it'll generally have less meaning (though can vary fixture to fixture)
You'll watch teams close to you in the league to cheer for them to lose, you get less chance to cheer against other teams for your benefit in the CL though, group games are played same time and outside of the final you don't now who you might face when it comes to the knockouts to know who to cheer against.
Without a big change in the setup of European football and domestic leagues (which I don't want) its hard to see it overtaking PL revenues....

There are only 8 groups (so 8 first seeds)
There's a fair few countries competing though....
Actually 7 spots for champions as CL holders get it as well.
I think there should be a Euro Elite league where the top 10 richest and most marketable clubs compete. They play eachother once and the winner is decided by who can sell the most shirts in China. The loser of the tie gets fired by Alan Sugar. The final will be a contest of who can sell the most tickets for the final at the highest prices and what percentage of corporate seating they can sell. I can honestly see Man Utd getting £1000 per ticket and 90% of the stadium corporate. The tickets to the final get you a seat at the results ceremony where the winner is announced by Alan Sugar as the most marketable club and hence world champions.
What teams would be in this Super League, big ones or the best ones.

If you're part of the Urban generation it is.
Premier league makes the most money, simply because it is the most marketable, every season there are at least 4 teams with a realistic chance of winning it, with 3 or 4 others that stand a chance. Most other countries have 2 at most, then maybe 1 that breaks the monopoly. How many people realistically want to watch games that the result is normally a foregone conclusion? Yes football purists want to watch the game played the way Bayern or Barcelona play, but the majority want to see games played by 2 evenly matched teams playing with passion week in week out, not once or twice a season, that's why our league is the most watched worldwide. The collective TV deal done by the EPL is part of the reason for this, ensuring that no one club can monopolise the way Madrid and Bayern do
This is why i think the PL is better economically as the money is distributed more 'fairly'.
Does anyone know what the winners of the top 5 European leagues and CL winners will get at the end of this season?
Last seasons LA liga winners learnt €10.5m,real and barca earnt €135m in TV rights each. Next best was atletico who learnt €40m in TV rights, next season the rights become collective with the exception of real and barca who are guaranteed their €135m!
Just 10.5 million Euros for La Liga winners??
No wonder both Real and Barca want to keep their own made TV rights revenues, they know they'd start to lose their grip of dominance over in La Liga if the money was more fairly distributed.
I'm happy with how the PL TV revenue money is handled over here. I want our league to be financially stable, consistent and more fair.
