I call them just to have someone to talk to.

If we had signed them at the start of July I'd be happy - we needed three players through the spine of the team and we've got them. A good CB, a strong CM & a CF who offers something different to Giroud.

I won't pretend to know much about them, but they seem to tick the boxes for what we required.

However, the nature of the transfer window has really disappointed me and led me to finally concede we will never be at the top level as long as Wenger is in charge as he dithers too much.

If we had made these signings at the start of the window, it would have been positive - we'd have identified our targets early and given them time to settle into the club, get used to their teammates and generally made the atmosphere around the club a lot better.

If we had lined up against Liverpool:
-----------------------Cech-----------
Bellerin---Holding---Mustafi---Monreal
----------------Coq----Xhaka------------
Sanchez---------Ramsey---------Ox
----------------------Perez-----------

There would have been a buzz of excitement around the Emirates, seeing how four new signings get on, rather than the anger and apprehension we had instead. I'm not saying we would have won the first two games, but would have had more chance to win them, to get momentum, for the new signings to be a success.

As it is these signings now seem desperate so don't really satisfy the fans, they're coming into a toxic environment and haven't had any time to gel with the rest of the team.

What could and should have been a positive window has turned far too negative because we seemed to have no real direction or clear idea of what we were doing and took too long to do anything.

Is toxic environment in fashion now Ian Wright said it on tele?

I dunno, must have picked it up somewhere.

But it's similar to the system we had with our youngsters - you bring young players into an environment of losers and they'll become losers.

The sort of mood and habits of the club are pretty big things to consider.

Yeah but even when there is a buzz of excitement we still flop. Thinking of the numerous opening games we've lost over the past 5/6 games and also games like Monaco at home, we basically celebrated getting that ball out of the pot like we were already through and somehow still lost.

I don't remember there being any buzz before the opening games. Just people being annoyed at lack of decent signings, which is made worse by losing the opener.

There was a really good atmosphere at the West Ham game last year, Cech had come in to solve our GK issues, we'd finished the season before on a high with the FA Cup and Coquelin's emergence and it clearly got to the players and they froze.

This squad is just not mentally equipped to deal with any kind of pressure, positive or negative.

Fair play, maybe I'm a negative person - all I remember is people raging about us not signing anyone for outfield.

All our opening games seem to blur into one for me - apprehension at transfer activity but an easy home game that should see us off well. Bad loss, we become the butt of all jokes because of Arsenal TV, everyone rages and we eventually buy someone

honestly no.

Of course you lot aren't. Moaning is a compulsory action for the modern day arsenal fan

Shame we didn't get these 2 last month before the season started. The toxic environment at the Emirates might have been different if we had 2-3 new players in the starting line up vs Liverpool.

It wouldn't. You would have found something else to moan at

What you meant to say was "what has been a positive window has been turned negative due to how bad arsenal fans have been over reacting about lack of transfers whilst being miles away from the transfer deadline" fortunately for other teams with decent fans they have been able to go about their transfer business without crying and moaning and as you can see the likes of city Chelsea United spurs and many of other our other direct rivals are still signing players today yet only arsenal fans were crying because they are the worst

"What has been a positive window" -

Let's assess what we needed at the start of the summer:

Top priority (by a country mile): Top striker - failed
2nd priority: Top CB - remains to be seen
3rd priority: A winger better than Walcott, Ox, Campbell - failed (admittedly I wouldn't have cared about not signing one if we'd done the other two)

So.... not that positive, average would be the best description. And comparing the situation to Utd, Chelsea, City. 3 clubs that regularly get their transfer business done quickly and efficiently, of course their fans aren't gonna be moaning much.

Last season went off the rails because we had to play Flamini and Ramsey in midfield. The fact that we got rid of Flamini makes it a pretty positive transfer window for me (getting Xhaka to replace him was ok too).

Well I'm chuffed. Ok not heard of any of our 3 big signings but what do I know. We've signed a DM who can ping a pass, a young German CB who looks like a grizzly redneck lunatic (which is a bonus for a CB) and an experienced versatile striker who provides us with a different option to Giroud.

Ok not sexy Ibra, Pogba type signings but all good. Took our time but got there in the end.

Who says we don't spend money huh?

Oh and who the feck have Chelsea signed? Kante could easily be a 1 season wonder and they need a massive overhaul anyway especially in defence. We have a far better squad than them

Youre just having a moan there yourself. Looks like you found something else to moan about.

For years we've been crying out for a decent striker and yet again the club cant provide one. If we sign these 2 the spend this window will be close to £100m but I still wont be happy as they have not addressed the biggest issue that could turn us into genuine title contenders of a top striker. £65m on Aubameyang at the beginning of the window to meet his release clause and Holding would have done me. Xhaka and Mustafi would be nice to have, but we could wait one more season for signings like that and a decent striker would elevate us to another level now.

Perez through no fault of his own could become subject of fan anger if he is not good enough.

Mustafi should be a good signing. You don't get 12 german caps by 24 for being a poor CB, They have a lot of competition for places.

No idea about Perez, so will have to reserve judgement. Hopefully he will flourish in our team, he's done alright in a team that isn't that great. So he should do better with us, and it will be great to have a proper alternative to Giroud, who's actually a striker. But Its clear he's not going to be world class. And that is what we need to be a serious challenger, Its a shame the club never properly went in for a top striker. But its positive news for sure

Well judging from your opening game, you don't exactly need another striker when your scoring 3 at home. Holding is not near the standard of Koscielny, Mertesakcer or Gabriel and Mustafi would go straight into that Arsenal side anyway as he's better than Mertesakcer and Gabriel.

Perez is record speaks for itself. 17 goals in a Deportivo side at less than £20m if not a bad signing at all. It's not about if he's a 30 goal a season striker, you don't need one of them to win a title. You just need the results ultimately.

Why would you want to spend £60m+ on a player who might not be guaranteed success? Why would you splash out £75m on Higuain when he might not have been successful if he comes to England because he doesn't fit into Wenger's style.

Wenger isn't panic buying. He's biding time to find the right players to sign for his system at cheap prices. Smart buying.
